Just spent the last couple of nights in a hotel in Coral Springs so I decided to check out Seminole Coconut Creek for the first time while up here. That's yet another room with nine-handed tables.

The Isle is 10-handed in all their cash games (except OE, which should be eight-handed but they do nine-handed).

Gulfstream also is 10-handed in all their cash games.

Hard Rock has a mix of 9 and 10 handed tables, depending on where you are in the room. The tables on the left as you enter (farthest from the cage) are 10 handed. Those are the tables most often used for 2-5. The tables closer to the cage are 9 handed and are generally used for 1-2 or limit.

You sure about that? Ive played 2/5 at HR about 20 times. Ive almost always been on the tables to the left. I may have played in the center row once or twice. Ive never played 10 handed there.

You might want to post this in the SoFla Regional Community forum:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/20...-dade-1087699/

Or you might want to try a different venue. I know for example, that Hialeah routinely has multiple PLO games running daily. In fact, I rarely play there these days because most of the 2/5NL players have switched to PLO and 2/5 rarely runs. Right now, for example, they have three 1/2 PLO games running, but no 2/5NL. (They also have two 2/4 mixed games running.) I was playing 2/5NL at Magic City yesterday afternoon and they also had two PLO games running while I was there.

Need to specify stakes.

You are picking literally the last room this is going to happen in.

As the poster above says plo has infected the south fla area and is played heavily at Hialeah and Gulfstream. Hiahleah small stakes but the main game can get huge and even the small stakes are obv higher than 2/5 NL. Gulfstream is high stakes and not a guarantee you'll get in.

If you really want to try to bring it north, PBKC is your best bet. There are so many degens there that play so many stupid games, I have no idea how a low stakes plo doesn't go regularly there. There is the big game but that's huge and filled with pros. Start a 1/2 list every fri/sat for a few weeks and see what happens.

FWIW I love coco and it is my second favorite room (by atmosphere standards I mean...isle obv 1st) in SFla. Just the traffic is unfortunately so low it's not gonna happen.

Was just playing around on Bravo a few minutes ago and decided to check on Miami Jai Alai just for the hell of it and came across this message:

"The Casino Miami poker room is CLOSED until further notice!"

I knew that they hadn't been getting much, if any, action for quite some time, but I didn't realize that they had officially closed. At one time, they had some incredible action (and some of the worst players that I've ever come across in my life!) Does anyone have any info on whether they ever plan to re-open?

Just checked Bravo and at 8:45pm on a Thursday night, there are a total of 12 tables running right now at Hialeah. Of those 12, more than half are Omaha: 6 are 1/2 PLO, 1 is a 2/4 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo, and there are several names on an interest list for 5/5PLO. (The other 5 tables are (3) 1/2NL and (2) 2/4 LHE.)

Chapultepec has phenomenal tacos, open until 4am on the weekend too if I recall correctly. Really close to Mardi Gras and Gulfstream

Found myself in Aventura today and decided to play some 2/5NL at Gulfstream for the first time in several months. Arrived before 11:00am, so I was able to avail myself of the free breakfast given to poker players while I was waiting for the game to start. I chose the omelet, potatoes, toast & coffee breakfast from the menu. Not bad.

Gulfstream now grants comps based on how many hours you play in a month, as follows:

0-39 hours: $ .60/hr
40-89 hrs.: $1.20/hr
90-139 hrs: $1.50/hr
140+ hours: $1.80/hr

Compared to other places around the U.S, that's pretty pathetic, but it's not bad for South Florida. Hell, Magic City doesn't even give you a penny, regardless of how many hours you play.

Hardrock is $2/hr

The max at the Isle is $4.32/hr if you play 750 hrs in a year (only 62.5 per month). You dont need the full 750 to get upgraded if you ask nicely. I had about 350 hrs in 3 months and they upgraded me with no problems as soon as I asked. I was getting $2.86 /hr BEFORE getting upgraded.

There's also a way to get cash off of the card at the Isle if you know the trick.

Hialeah comps poker players $0.50/hr regardless of # of hrs or type of player's card.

When did that change? When I used to play there regularly, it was $0.50/hr. for 1/2NL, but $1.00/hr. for 2/5NL.

I was told that months ago by former pr director Costa and, before posting, confirmed it today via telephone call. However, I did not ask specifically about comps for 2/5 nl (as you have accurately pointed out, 2/5 nl is very seldom played there). I just asked how much was earned in comps per hour of play and if it varied by type (level) of player's card.

Need some advice. My company is taking us on a retreat in November to Miami Beach. I'm looking to play as much poker as I can while down there. I like PLO and hold'em 2-5 and up. Here are some question for everyone:

Is Uber/Taxi from South Beach to say Hialeah a reasonable thing? Any idea how much it would be?

Aside from Hialeah, are there any other nearby spots that are worth visiting.

Is Seminole HardRock good enough/worth staying at for a few days? I'm thinking i'd rent a car after the retreat is over and drive up there and stay/play for a few days.

Thanks!

No idea about Uber prices but I know prices vary wildly depending on time of day, holiday, weekend or whatever.

Action at Seminole HR is sick most of the time. Not sure about PLO, but you'll love the 2/5 NL HE. The hotel itself is nice but pretty expensive. I would look for a cheaper place nearby.

Über from South Beach to Hialeah Park would run about $20 each way most times and could be closer to $40 if there is a surge price in effect.

I think you'll want to stay a few days after, but don't commit to just Hardrock Hollywood. The hotel is nice but overpriced. Definitely rent a car and try out other rooms with 2/5, so many choices within reach that way. Pick somewhere central to bed the 1st night, figure out where you wanna play and go from there. Hialeah, Isle, Gulfstream, Mardi Gras, Magic City, Coconut Creek, PBKC...
