Thanks for the info. Were vinnie and robin in the cash game?

Indeed they were. Robin left around 1 am, and Vinnie was still there at 4 when i finally called it quits.

i would love to see this happen, but i'm sure its a helluva long shot. but maybe if you can guarantee 6-8 players some room will run a game once a week at a fixed day & time. getting dealers that know how to deal the 3 stud games could be an issue, though.

How tight/tough are the Ocean's PLO games? I'd imagine most of the players are 2+2'ers?

Play, in general, is probably equal to an avg-slightly solid 25 or 50 game on Stars Ultra

i dont play much live poker, but I would come out for a 4/8 HORSE game. If anyone has any pull (chilidog?) at say Oceans 11, please help :-) .....I would guess O11 would be the place with the highest likelihood of success.

If we can get say 7-8 people that we can guarantee for the game, will O11 spread the game once a week on a set day & time? someone needs to find this out.

also, we have 3 people, would anyone else be interested?

i think i've already spent my favors with the plo game. my opinion is that O11 management doesn't have any interest in spreading a(nother) game that's going to run very infrequently. i also think they might have difficultly on the permitting side with the city of oceanside. not sure they'd even be allowed to spread it right now with the way they are set up. plus 90% of the dealers would be incompetent dealing horse.

don't get me wrong, i would probably like to play a 10-20 horse game, but i just don't think it's in the cards.

if you have people, try it at a home game.

just got back from my first trip to pala. played 1-2nl while waiting for the 2-5nl to open up late this afternoon. when it started, i was a bit disappointed in that many people bought the minimum ($300) or close to it. it got better as some people got stuck, so later on there was a decent amount of money there. plus vinnie and robin were not in the game (which decreased the average stack size).

the room itself is pretty nice with very nice chairs and cup holders in the rail. the dealers all seemed pretty decent. and the play was generally pretty weak tight.

i played one of the crazier hands i've played in a while in tonight's session. there was a guy who had a few beers and was behaving a bit erratically. he had re-raised pre several times, and had also 3-bet the flop, then check-folded the turn. so i raise utg to $15 with 55, 1 caller, then he 3-bets to $75. i call. flop is 9T3. i check, he bets $50, i call for value. turn 3. check check. river 9. i check, he moves all in for $390. i tank for a bit then he gets a bit agitated and calls the clock. i call about 20 seconds into the clock and am good against his K6ss.
[i later stacked him again when he called the $10 button straddle from the blinds, i made it $40 with KK, the button straddler called, then he moved all in for $400. i iso-shipped and he showed down AJo. i turned a set. gg guy.

no worries, i dont want to put you in a bad spot.

i know that they spread a stud8 game a few years ago, so I think they could probably (legally) run a HORSE game. I agree that the dealers would prob not know how to deal the stud games and it wouldnt be worth it to train for a game that runs afor a few hours once a week.

if anyone is interested in this game, it doesnt hurt to ask, if you are there :-) . if that doesnt work, if someone wants to try this as a homegame, let me know, i'm in. i'm not so much into the organizing, though :-)

they are not allowed to spread razz but the other 4 hose games are okay. theres almost no way they would waste time spreading a game like this that would be super weak when it doesnt gain them anything tho. we played 75/150 mix a couple weeks ago and after a few hands the dealers were surprisingly pretty competent in dealing stud games but we were basically holding their hand, especially wrt remembering how many hands we had played of each game and some other stuff.

The best BIG poker room in San Diego is Oceans Eleven which is in Oceanside. They have lots of tables and lots of limits. Also, there are 4-5 Indian Casinos that usually only have low limits. Then there are the dinky card rooms (Palomar Card Club, Lucky Lady, The Village). Apparently the Village and Palomar run 5/10 regularly, and Palomar also runs a 10/20 he/plo mix game 6 nights a week. I just found this out.

What part of SD are you living?
