The only 2/5 that I'm aware of is Ocean's and I've never been, hopefully someone else can chime in.

So it turns out I'll be in the Gaslamp district instead of Mission Valley. Does that change anyone's advice? That 5/5 game sounds sweet. How does it play?

It can play very deep and sometimes aggressive, but is usually a good game.

There is a high school on the way try to avoid home time (around 3 pm) cus the kids will tease you and throw stones especially if you look frightened. Be careful of the cars everyone there has big suv's and they drive terribly fast, also i recommend wearing ear protectors as there horns seem very loud. Always be sure to let your mommy know where your are ! I know going to the casino is naughty but you must not leave unless people know your location you could always say your going to the movie theater next door, I know lying is bad but you don't want daddy to find out the truth.

Gaslamp just means you'll have more stuff to do that isn't poker. Lots of nice restaurants and bars down there!

Had a nice $2/3NL session at the Village Club last night. Well run room, nowhere near as cramped as some review's I'd read led me to fear, and only a 10min drive from downtown. I liked the "no flop, no drop" policy, as, like all California rooms that I have played in, the drop is a set amount, not a percentage of the pot.

As I have generally found to be true, the lowest NL game in any room plays pretty much the same, and the $2/3 game played like an average $1/2 game, imo (with the exception that the PF raises were not so redic as # of BBs). They had 3 tables of $2/3 going when I got there at 11:30pm, which had dropped down to 2 as of 2:30 when I called it a night. They were also spreading $5/10 and a couple of smallish limit games that I didn't pay much attention to.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Hey guys, do any GOOD online grinders have a room open in a good location of san diego by chance? I'm 26 and have a great dog. Moved to SD 2 months ago but my pup is getting quite lonely in our 1br, so we're looking for a change. I'm super chill and easy to get along with. I'm looking for cool people most of all, but if you crush poker that's a big plus in my book. I'm looking for month to month lease, and will probably be leaving SD come wsop time. I'm pretty sure I'm a net +EV for the house . Please PM if interested.
Thanks,
Matt

Pala Winter Open schedule:

http://www.palacasino.com/poker_prom...open-schedule/

I have no idea what they are thinking with the weird o8 tournament, but there's a PLO tournament, and the main tourney should be pretty big. they got ~210 runners for the one in january.

what is Pechanga's logic in starting their $230 / $50k guaranteed tournament this saturday at 5PM?

It's so braindead. I would definitely make the drive if they started at noon. So would many others living closer to SD, I assume.

skydiver8,

I like the part where they say the main event perks include "Sponsorship opportunities"

well, considering Pechanga does so many other braindead things, it's really par for the course. Nice big room...that is the most terribly-managed place i've played.

Though tbh, it's not so braindead, considering the structures of their tournaments are so ABYSMAL that even starting that late, the whole thing will probably wrap up in about 5 hours tops.

One day, perhaps my dream of regularly-scheduled tournaments with decent structures will occur somewhere in SD county, but as of now i've pretty much resigned myself to heading to LA or vegas for that

doesn't matter...new house + part time job + moving = waaaay less poker for me right now.

Skydiver - Did the last Rivercard tournament at Pala have the decent structure that they had in the November tourney?

unfortunately not.

Not sure why they changed it back.

Didn't matter, I got knocked out early by some monkey who was happy to commit his entire 25k stack in the 50/100 blind level with pocket sevens. I had aces, of course.

the good side of variance is not my strong suit...

Does anyone know if a lot of online players moved here after black Friday?
Last night we has two 10/20s going at 1130 with a decent list.
Just curious if this is due to a lot of online players or just a lot of wealth in San Diego.
I would say the game was 50/50 younger players and older, businessmen types

@brown-
I don't think gordo16 counts since he wouldnt stoop to play 10/20nl.
[but seriously, it does seem like the player pool at 5/5nl + has gotten noticeably younger in the past year].
