the small palomar mix (20/40) is regularly on sundays, but with traffic slowing down in the fall there's better chances of mix going on any given day. there just has to be people wanting to play mix and enough people at 5/10 to not kill the 5/10 in the process
Thanks for the reply. Do you think the big mix will be going? If so, do you know what the ration is?

Thanks again

I don't know what you mean by ration?

The big mix (300/600) has stretches where it goes every day then "takes a break" for a couple days. It is going today and will probably be going most days in the future.

Meant rotation, sorry, on phone. Here now though. Thanks again, you seem to be a good ambassador for the room.

Ok...thanks. I might have to check it out sometime.

Greenstein is back in town and has been at Palomar the last two days. Hopefully his car doesn't get stolen/borrowed again this time while visiting San Diego.

The mrs will be coming to town with my next week and wants to stay at one of the casinos on Friday and Saturday.
I was hoping for some input on Barona v Sycuan, as far best poker room. I prefer PLO and mixed games, but don't think I can expect those there like at Oceans and Palomar.
So I guess I am asking highest limit for NL and LHE

Thank you

If you're looking for high limit I would probably stay away from Barona. The highest they spread on an average day is 1/3 $500 and 4/8LHE. If you come a on friday, they always have a pretty good 5/10 $2000 game. I can't speak about sycuan cause I've never played there.

I didn't play on Friday but I was playing soccer across the street, and it was smelling like burned tires -- I had no idea it came from an exploding car from Palomar LOL

Went ahead and booked Barona for Friday and Saturday so I could play a couple rounds, hopefully there is some good 5/10 action. Will hopefully be in the mixed game atPalomar tonight and tomorrow after work maybe dinner. Met a young guy named mike last week who seemed like a great guy and player with quite the stack. Does he post here?
Anyone have good recs for dinner downtown? Staying at the Omni but have a car
Thanks and look forward to playing with some of you this week

Sorry for the wall of text

Hi. New to 2 + 2 and this thread.

Mostly a tournament player. Anywhere from the $28 - $200 buy-ins.

Played in a few Viejas small Saturday morning donkaments the past few weeks. Value-wise is is very good - $9,500 Chips for $30 buy-in (that includes the RB and AO) seems like a good deal, for the weekend poker player.

One thing that bothers me in those..after 200/400 level it shoots up to 500/1000. That's when the tournament completly changes to an all-in shove fest. Anyone else play Viejas tournies? They seem better than Barona and Sycuan dailies to me.

SIDE NOTE: Does anyone know of a low level home game around San Diego?
Prefer SNG's but cash games are ok. The kind of low level game, that you bring no more than $50 or $100 to the table. Maybe play once a week or so?

Thanks for any response!

Stu - look at Oceans weekend tournaments. $10K guarantee, 10K chips and a better structure (http://www.oceans11.com/tournaments/...ture/index.php) for a $135 buy in. Also, check out River-card (http://www.river-card.com). They host deep(er) stack tournaments in casinos like Harrah's and Pala every now and then.

Thanks for the reply.

I saw those weekend tournaments at O11, but have never played there. My very favorite venue locally is Lake Elsinore where they have some of the best deepstack structures anywhere at very low buy-ins. MO-TH $65 buy in gets you $10,000 starting chips with 30 minute levels..don't think that can be topped anywhere.

I'm a regular at the Lake and Pechanga. Play some at Pala, Pauma (ugh), and Harrahs Rincon. Used to go to Harrah quite a bit, but been there only once since they moved upstairs. Don't care for the management there.

I'm finding myself more and more in San Diego, so been playing more at Viejas, Barona, and Sycuan.

I've never played in any of the card rooms like Palomar, Lucky Lady or Village Club in Chula Vista, but would like to check them out one day.

Forgot to mention I played in the first couple Pala Deepstacks. Once I played vs Mike Matusow at my table and won a hand from him. :-)

The very first Pala Deepstack event was an amazing $30,000 starting chips for only $120 buy-in. Then it seems each time they raise the buy-in..to $180..then $300..then last time I think it was $500. Unfortunately, too rich for my blood. Sure seems when that Room opened they really tried to lure in poker players..now management has gotten greedy. The poker chairs are still the best anywhere, tho..

I will always love it when the fish are happy that they see 30,000 chips or 9,500 chips although it really means they are getting 40 BBs or the like

Well both the Pala Deepstack and the Viejas Saturday Donkament start at Blinds of 25/50.

600 starting BB's at the Pala Deepstack is fantastic..

Just came upstairs from the 5/10 at Barona. Probably the best 5/10 I've played. if they are going to give you 200bbs I think it should just be uncapped, but it's better than 1k.
Definitely softer than the Palomar game, maybe fewer pros and more tourists?
May go back down later after some time with the Mrs

On a side note there was a kid in the 1/3 that appeared to have about 8 buy ins

From what I gathered it's a thurs-sat thing, but being my first time and not directly asking I wouldn't rely on my answer.

There's also a deepstack tournament at Pala that same day - 20,000 tournament chips, estimated prize pool $25K for $200+25+10. They are running satellites every Saturday at 4PM for $25+5+5. Should make for some interesting weekend play! http://www.palacasino.com/casino/pok...ents-calendar/

May have to stay over that weekend. Entice the wife to come on my business trip again.
Any idea if I need to register in person?

I really think the $20/hr time rake is exorbitant. Some places don't charge any fee on 5/10 or above.

Not a fan of Pala's poker management. Not sure if George Arsenis still runs the room, but he has made some bonehead decisions in the past, such as cancelling tournaments, etc..

I didn't see any structures for this "deepstack" tournament. Do you know the structure or at least where I can find one online?
