Oh and by the way (since this is a San Diego Poker Group thread) I work weeknights but now that I have my own wheels again I intend on spending every Saturday and Sunday night at Ocean's 11 for much of the night. I'd be more than happy to meet others interested in the same. I am prone to sitting at the table for many hours at a time, though, so I won't be leaving after an hour or two of play.

How's the filet/lobster they serve on Tuesdays?

Can't say much for the lobster since i didn't have it, but the filet sucks. One of the worst I ever had.

People saying Oceans has great food obviously eat at McDonalds / Dennys usually. Compared to those joints it's an upgrade. Compared to any regular restaurant it's a joke.

But I guess when you're there to stay for 10 hours you can't really complain too much

Haha yeah, I think its pretty funny when people rave about the food there. I mean, for $3-5 meals its not bad, and probably good for the money, but not a "OMG Oceans food is so good" kinda thing either.

Also, how different do people think the 1/1, 2/2 and 2/3 are?

I am lazy and this thread is huge but...

I am traveling to San Diego for work Mon-Fri next week & I play 3/5NL in Arizona daily and was curious where the best late afternoon/evening/overnight action was for 3/5 or 2/5 cash games...

Given the $ I'd easily play the 2/3. It is a 100 bb max starting stack game but I think you can also buy in for a hundy if you like. It is one of the better nl structures in LLnlhe in CA imo. Also a "No flop no drop" and I think they drop a buck less for flops than a lot of the LA county smaller games. Those dollars here and there really do add up in smaller games especially

Ocean's Eleven in Oceanside is the biggest card room in SD county. They have a solid 5-5 game that starts every day by about 10AM, gets to 2 tables by early afternoon, and 3 or 4 tables in the evening. Sometimes goes all night. $300-1500 buy-ins, comped food, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended. Good Luck.

I know the topic of food is totally irrelevant to poker, but when you're paying 3 dollars for a good sized plate of piping hot, fresh honey garlic chicken that is straight off the wok and is pure white meat chicken without tendons/ligaments in them, how does it get much better than that? No one said they were awarding Ocean's 11 with Michelin stars. But the food is wonderful given the price. Why pay 20 bucks at PF Chang's or the Cheesecake Factory for a product that is barely better?

I would love to try to the steak some time, but the asian choices and quesadilla are too good to pass up ^_^

People bitching about the food at O11 need to rethink themselves.

Not good. You can order any of their other meals with the ticket. Everything else is great, but the lobster/filet are typically pretty poor examples of lobster/filet.

reminder for plo tonight at O11 !!

last week there were two full games running for several hours and the main game lasted thru the wee hours.

1/2 blinds, $5 to come in, $200 - 500 buy in. comped food. deals are allowed when all in.

note to think about: how are you content with 2 cards when you could have 4? more action, more fun. ship it.

It will probably start 2pm'ish.

It will likely be 20/40 minbet and 5/10 bigbet with a 1k cap. Games will likely be (in no particular order):

- Badeucey
- Badacey
- 2/7 triple draw
- 2/7 single draw NL
- stud8
- omaha8
- PLO8

and possibly
- razzdugi
- PLO

Whoever is interested PM me.

Sorry when I play with $1000 on the table I tend to believe that I can afford $30 for a decent restaurant meal which is usually 10x better than anything they can offer you at O11, which is basically fast-food prepared by a couple of mexicans in the back of a casino.

Hows the action been at Barona lately, I know their jpot was pretty huge for a while therefore I'm assuming full tables most of the time but after that?

How often is their 5/10 game running?

First of all, no matter what restaurant you eat at in Cali, it's prob prepared by Mexicans in the back. That's not a bad thing.

Secondly, O'11 serves food comparable to Outback, PF Changs, Pollos Maria, Claim Jumper, etc, for way less money.

Third, if you have a $1,000 on the table (so impressive, btw, I mean, just, wow, you're so rich, thanks for mentioning that) you're prob in a 5/5 game or bigger and eat for free.

You should try being less impressed with yourself, more impressed with the free food you're getting. People will laugh at your posts less.

When you go to a restaurant and eat for $30, can you play poker too? I would like the name.

I think the food at O11 in the average is very good for a card room and incomparable value when you look at Pechanga or Pala.
One poster mentioned the Tomato Cream soup which is absolutely delicious and so is the Fried Chicken.

No offense or anything, but how can you sit down with $1000 on the table when you told me yourself a few weeks ago that you busted your roll, in like 5 sessions (guess you said you lost 5 all-ins with flopped sets and got sucked out on each time), when you started playing poker in San Diego?? Not trying to be a douche or anything (you've given me some unsolicited advice in light of my posting of my upcoming move to San Diego, which I appreciate). Just seems like, from a lot of your posts, that you come across as real snobby and condescending.

I guess it was a 12 buy-in roll that you busted. Sorry, I don't mean for this post to be a slam, just curious how you're sitting $1,000 deep if you went bust not even two months ago. You build up a roll (assuming you're buying $1,000, I hope your roll isn't like $5,000)??

Or are you using the royal "I" in your post and not specifically talking about yourself? Like Mr.More pointed out, if you're buying in for $1,000, you're probably playing 5/5 and the food is comped at that limit.
