[QUOTE=gman339;26573367]Come to think of it.....it was probably a couple years ago. They used to spread a 1/3 NL or 2/3 NL game with a max buyin of $300. I played in it several times.

Pechanga is supposedly not changing their 1/2 100 game, but adding a 2/3 200 game and changing their 2/5 to a 200 min 1000 max game starting in June. The 5/10 game has no max buyin now, either. I've heard other things, though, but that is the most recent talk.

Good to know because as is I would probably never go back there to play.

I was playing 8-16 at Oceans Wed night. The 20 game was full with 3 on the list. Another 8 player said there were 3 props in the 20 game.

Apparently they keep props in the game even though thereis a list? What's up with that? I would have had a cow if I was waiting.

maybe the house stops paying them once there is a list... or they are props (the reg said so) but they are off duty.

Limit at Ocean's is going off. At around midnight last night there were still 2 tables of 8-16 going. I thought normal week night the must move would usually start up for a few hours then break. At 2 am there were 4 guys trying to get more to start up 20-40 again.

On the other hand at 1-2 am there were two other guys in the 8-16 that looked pretty solid. Small jewish looking guy (sry if that offends you, I was the big dude with the beard btw) and then a medium sized white dude with a close crop haircut. both seemed pretty TAG-LAGTAG. I 3bet with the jewish looking guy 3 times with AQ and each time he won a 65/35 flip Capping and Barreling AK worked at least

I know...I used to play there regularly. Since Black Friday, I've starting going again occasionally. I was wondering if anyone on here plays there frequently. I'm planning on going today actually.

The last time I was there (about two weeks ago) they had the 100/200 limit mixed game going. The owner of the place (who often plays) was sitting with about 80K in front of him. Crazy.
yeah, they axed the 1-3 game several years ago. i stopped going. because of it.

Which seat were you in? I was a little focused on the 7 and 8 seats

The guy wearing the Oceans cap I played with two weeks ago, didnt get out of line, pretty ABC, willing to value bet. Nice guy to visit with.

I think I was seat 9. If seat 8 was the blackjack dealer that was spewing everywhere, I was one on his left until I ended my session.

You can PM me if you were the jewish looking dude or the dude with the buzzed head if you don't want to admit what you look like.

Btw I feel the day games are way softer than night-graveyard. This is only from a few sessions though. Saturday games are good as well I believe.

I just moved back to San Diego a couple months ago and I've been going to Oceans actively again.

I've been wanting to play the PLO, but each time it's running that's when the 40/80 is running and I like to get my limit hold'em fix. Are there any days other than Friday/Saturdays that the PLO runs? What about mixed games? Is there enough interest at Oceans to start mixed games, maybe Holdem/Badugi/Triple Draw/Badacey, etc? I'm down to start those games at any stakes 20/40+ if there are people willing to start those games with me at Oceans.

For a number of reasons, I prefer to play at Oceans over Palomar. If that's the only place in SD to play mixed games, I may just drive to Commerce.

Why would you not want to play at Palomar...it's such a fine establishment? Palomar is the only place though where I've seen mixed games spread down here.

Despite being a complete hole....Palomar is just too convenient for me to not go there.

Thanks for the response/info, it's unfortunately as I had thought.

Maybe one of those weekends when I can go earlier in the day I'll swing by Palomar. But until then I guess I'll start scheduling all my business travel to take off from LAX so I can go to Commerce.

Talk to howmany and/or death donkey. They are always up for big mixed games at O11.

House stops paying the props after a certain amount of hours in the game, as I understand it. Not sure on the specifics.

I've been frequenting the 20 game since BF. It's a lot of fun and a great game. Free (good) food doesn't hurt either.

what the 20/40 food is free O_o !?! Did not know this. I need to take my shot soon. I haven't decided how good the games look tho. Confirmed Ocean's food is great.

Last night they had 2 20s run, but it looked like there were a decent amount of good regulars and a half-decent internet kid I'd played with before in the 8. he seemed overaggro for live... in fact pulled some moves that he really shouldn't of even in online aggro games.

Yeah food is free in the 20s (also 40s, 5/5 NL and above, and PLO 1/2). I know you been wanting to take a shot for a while now. Remember, to minimize the chance of getting beat down don't do it if the 40s game isn't running. Don't do it if the game you will be going in will be short handed or especially wild. I mean, those are spots you want to be in when you are comfortably beating a limit, but when you move up a limit it's more important to develop a comfort level and learn the subtleties and dynamics of this new environment than to squeeze out every single equity edge, especially marginal ones pre flop.

While all the limit games at Oceans are soft, there does exist a fairly large average player skill gap between the 8-16 and the 20-40.

Good luck, you can PM or talk to me at Oceans if you want additional pointers. I'll likely be there tonight. Look for asian guy that looks like the biggest fish at the table.

Yes, food is comped in the 20. That's why all the long time regulars have huge beer guts.

I haven't played the 8, I'm sure it's ridiculous, but I would still go 20, even if it's a little tougher to keep my head above the rake line. Same rake for 40% of the stakes is pretty brutal. Tough to overcome, no matter how good the game is.

If you are going to take your shot, get in the 2nd 20 game that gets going in the evening or play on Friday when some of the top guys are playing 40 instead.

Why the regs in the smaller games at o11 don't complain to management that their food isn't comped too is beyond me. The drop is exactly the same and the casino is making way more money off 8-16 and 2-3 than 20-40 and 40-80.

Usually the mix game at Palomar doesn't get going until later on as far as I know.

ya the rake is a big consideration. However the game is super soft most of the time and I am doing ok, not 1 BB/hr but better than my alternatives for work.

I might take the shot soon. I have about 100BBs... and I am fine with dropping in stakes if I have a bad night.

I have seen some 8 regs playing in the 20s recently that are normally absolute garbage so there is some incentive. In his defense tho, the precise reg I am talking about, who I'd played about 16+ hours with, suddenly played well last night. I was baffled at the transformation, I mean some huge mistakes he had evaporated from his game overnight... and I'm certain he wasn't tilted the 3 other times I played him.

Just taking a guess but:

1) More hands per hour in the higher limit games because they play faster?
2) Lower limit players will come play anyway, higher limit recreational players have more forms of leisure to choose from and the free food incentives gets them to come?

[Yes, there's been more than once where I thought hmm I'm hungry, what to eat dinner, ah I'll just go to Oceans]

not that crazy. Good food + entertainment of a mr. any two cards sitting at your table is a great dinner.

I won't be in tonight but friday night I shall. May take a shot then, depends on how I feel.

Oceans has props? How can I get one of these gigs? I play some 8 and 20 there and would like to shore up my roll with some income.

I took an "on vacation" type shot in the O11 20 game over 2 sessions (now 3 years ago). Played weekday afternoon. It was largely retirees that were the definition of loose passive. Throw in one weak tight and one aggro and it was pretty easy lineup to read.

Conversely I've found the 8 to be a far crazier game so far. Random capping, strange bluff runs. Huge cold calling ranges.

Of course, the 20 game was 3 years ago.

Confirmed the 8 game can get crazy. But having opponents that want to put in tons of bets bad is how you make money. That is the night game tho, the 8 during the day is generally sleepy and all loose passive old dudes.
