I go to USD (University of San Diego)...I really want to go sometime next week as I can't go this weekend (2 midterms on monday). Let me know if you would be interested...

For some real fun check out lucky lady, palomar club or Village club...

ocean's is by far the best casino in the area. Pechanga's floor staff make it the worst.

I always like Viejas for some reason. Barona is the best casino, decent blackjack rules.

Yes and No... Played a $75+$20EF $10k gtd Fri Donkament (yikes @ EF, kinda why I don't play there much anymore). Anyways, I get moved to a new table. I'm in the cut-off and I watch UTG (middle 40's uggo lady) Flat, then flat MP1's $1.5k raise at 100/200 with about $2.5k left. behind her. Flop comes 963. She checks, MP1 Bets $2k, she goes all in, he calls with (pretty much what I guessed) AJ. And she rolls over..... A3. Then goes runner clubs.

Easy to go Deep? Yes. Easy to avoid idiots who cant add? No. Add in the fact the the structure makes almost everything a shove fest after 5 lvls and no real poker can be played since effective stacks are around 8-10BB. Coupled with incompetent floor/tourney staff (John, good guy but he can't count and doesn't know d!ck about good poker floor management) And I just can't see playing most any of their tournaments. Which is why I converted to the Lake. Great management, great service, great management, great dealers, great management, great people/players, great management, great management... oh yeah, did I mention GREAT F**KING MANAGEMENT? It does not get any better than Leo, Sasheen, Billy and everyone else there that make it just the best damn cardroom to play in. Lake Elsinore Casino (pretty much just a poker room, I don't like calling it a casino)

FT'd there WSOP Event #7 Satty just a few hours ago, but was the first to go out. We chopped giving everyone $225, $450 for the Chip Leader (Madman Jeff), and then we played (they played) it out for the $1500 seat+hotel. Threw Leo and Sas $25 to split as they saw fit, and said my goodbyes. Pissed at myself though since I had Jeff on my right as we were 5 handed with 6-7 BB stacks (Jeff=Madman had about 20BB) blinds $4k/$8k and I mucked my K-10o from the BB w/$47k behind after he raised UTG w/ J9, and the CO shoved for $25k w/AQo (<--- printed on his forhead when he shoved) I hated mucking since I knew I was good to break almost even on the side and have a shot at a hefty main, but still I mucked and lied to jeff saying it was KJ. Flop K-10-4. Turn K, river is fuzzy since I blacked out from a white hot flash of rage.....

Long story short. EFF Pechanga's tourneys, play at The Lake!!!

I hope to see some of you on Saturday at 1300hrs for The Lake's ME Satty.

Great Management...

As far as casinos closer to the general San Diego area (downtown/mission valley/sdsu/usd)

Barona:

It has the best room/dealers imo. The downside is the annoying drive through a hill and for those over 21, no booze due to the danger of driving the previously mentioned hill.

As far as games, 3/6 4/8 limit. NL they have their 1/2 20-60 worse game ever invented, no real poker played, dont try to bluff and dont be surprised at terrible play, I've played it a max of 3 times iirc since they started it and I'm not a fan.
1/3 NL is their vegas equivalent of 1/2, $100 min $300 max, they have soft games imo very beatable.
They also spread the 2/5 NL, almost never more than 1 table, the good action only truly happens on the weekends at this level, if you play there for a whole week and at times not even that much, youll realize who the 3-5 reg/rocks are

Viejas
Easy to get to, 8east till you get there, they have tons of action, they have booze but is kinda of a ghettoish looking poker room. But def worth the visit just because their actions is intense most of the time. 1/2 $100 max 1/3 n 2/5, i heard they run the 5/10 at times. Best place for tournaments, they run their ''aces tournament'' which is $300 to get in iirc $100k gtd and you can win tickets to it by playing and winning their other tournaments.

Sycuan
sux, dont waster your time or let anyone talk you into going to this poker room, their NL action sux

Thanks for the tip! Still building the bankroll so it will be a few months before I start taking shots at the 5/5, but I will definitely keep that in mind!

Not that I would ever encourage such a thing, but I have played at oceans off and on for about 8 years, and never once I have I seen them card anybody. Not saying they wouldn't card you, but I have seen some kids that look 16 and still not get carded. Just some thoughts

i have seen security card people at O11 many times. even after being seated in relativley big games (5-5 nl).
best bet is to go in the back door. and don't order any alcoholic beverages.

Really?? I have never seen it! Odd. Yeah I would go in the back door and play in the low limit room. I hardly ever see security there unless people start to get stupid.....

Going to Barona tonight...anyone going to be there?

Yeah, Ocean's 11's surrounding area is a bit seedy (had my car broken into twice there in I think five trips), but not to the point where you're gonna get shanked or something... Barona and Harrah's Rincon are good options too if you don't mind some driving. Not really feeling Viejas -- seemed dead last couple times I went.

Y'all 2+2ers should wear your hats sideways or something so I can identify you (eh, actually that wouldn't really set you apart in the East County...), and find a less sharky table.

The drive is only annoying when it is busy, but on say a Tuesday afternoon with a sporty ride, its fun to blast through those turns, with the sun shining and the beautiful scenery. Same for Sycuan, I love the double-blind curves just before the golf course.

Barona used to hand out free rooms like candy, even to poker players, but seem to have cut back on that, but it is def a nice place to stay..

Cheers
