Not a lot, generally 1-3 $2/$3 NL games running and 1 3-6 limit game depending on the time of day.

Yeah, every time I'm there it's some 2/3 NL and one 3-6 limit. Bummer about Lucky Lady. With my schedule, it's my only real opportunity to play cards live due to the convenience. If it closes, pretty much done playing live.

Thank youu!

You can check Ocean's 11 on poker atlas. Their board is live on the website.

Anyone know what the rake is for all cash games at Oceans 11? It's the only local room I haven't seen definitive rake numbers for..

drop $4+1 on flop and $1 on river, no flop no drop. Might be slightly less for the $60 buyin NL game (never played it). I haven't been since December so might have changed since then.

Thanks for the Info.

Someone PM'd me and said 1/2 NL at Ocean's 11 is 3+1 buy-in.

I see that Oceans is opening a new Limit area on August 1st, which will include 2/4 Limit tables with a DOUBLE race for the points promotion (only applies to limit games) for the month of August. I know the 2/4 L tables are popular at Pechanga.

Wonder if any grinders will be at the 2/4L tables beginning August 1st with the reduced rake and $10/hour promo dollars and trying to hit the jackpot on the side?

San Diegans

What neighborhood would you recommend for a couple coming to town for a fun weekend? Just want to walk/uber around eating and drinking. Maybe some tourist stuff. Tons of Airbnbs everywhere so looking to refine. Thanks.

I think La Jolla is the nicest, but it will probably be the most expensive.

clifs; tldr

Stay near Gaslamp
things to do:
1) restaurants and clubs in gaslamp
2) La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores
3) Pt Loma Lighthouse
4) Balboa Park
5) Sea World or Legoland if you're into it.
6) poker

longer version:

It kind of depends what you want to do... but, then again, not so much because everything is like 20 minutes from everywhere else.

1) party? pacific beach or gaslamp

2) beach and scenery? la jolla cove is gorgeous

3) museums? balboa park has a ton, museum of modern art is also downtown and another in la jolla

4) poker? my house if you suck, if you're good then O11 or 7mile. Bring lots of bullets, games are actiony.

5) mexico? meh, border towns kind of suck and there isn't a great place to stay near the border. But, it's only 20 min from downtown.

I'm gonna say to stay somewhere near gaslamp. You can take an easy after or morning trip to La Jolla cove for unforgettable views and a great beach at La Jolla Shores. There is a sea cave kayak tour that you can buy on groupon for cheap and it's totally worth it.

While in gaslamp, you can enjoy dozens of great restaurants and night clubs... great for bfast, lunch and dinner. You can drop in and catch the Padres losing to your favorite baseball team, too. Bar crawls are easy if you're into it.

If you want to let your hair down a little then pacific beach is only 10 minutes away. If you feel like a little culture, then Balboa Park is 5 minutes away with museums and stuff to see.

An afternoon at Pt Loma Lighthouse is a must-see also... and it's only 20 minutes away from gaslamp. Same with Seal World and Legoland is only 30 minutes.

So, yeah, gaslamp.

ideal walking areas:
- petco park -> gaslamp then take kettner thru little italy (end around ballast point or crack shack)
- la jolla, walk around prospect st and then look for the seals on the cove
- sea world or zoo (zoo is tons and tons of walking)

that should pretty much cover you for a weekend. if you wanted to get more beachy then you could always walk around pacific beach to mission beach and explore.

Don't forget North Park area for drinking and eating, especially if you're into craft brews. 15 breweries in a 1 mile radius and just about anything you can think of for food. If you end up in Miramar/Mira Mesa area there's a ton of breweries and places to eat as well. (SD could be easily considered one of the top cities for craft brews in the country).

Extra points to convoy street area for anything asian food related Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, u name it..an endless amount of good hole in the wall places to eat and drink.

@KJS I can give more specific recommendations depending on where you end up staying, let me know.

Would anyone be interested in getting a 2/2 or 2/3 PLO or Mixed NL/PLO game going weekly at Seven Mile? I love PLO and kinda hate NL, but the lowest PLO spread there is 5/10. Please msg or email me if you are interested.

I am thinking we can schedule a game on a weekday around 6pm and/or a Sat/Sun around noon.

Thanks!

Oceans 11 or Seven Mile will be the only places spreading those stakes.

In San Diego for the next three months. What’s my best bet for places to play consistently? Interested in 2/5 NL&PLO, maybe lower or higher if games are actiony. Noticed only Sycuan is listed on bravo despite the multitude of names listed on this thread.

Wondering also if anyone could provide a bit of a breakdown with respect to the types of games at each location.

Thanks in advance for responses

Seven Mile has action 2-3NL, a very rare (call first) 5-5NL, and 5-10PLO.

Oceans 11 will have the most games and biggest variety of games. You can catch them on poker atlas.

How often/where does 5/10+ NL run? Any 2/5 or 5/10 PLO? Are there specific days they go? Does anyone host the games?

Out of towner incoming.

Id really like to spend a few days at each of Oceans 11 and Seven Mile. Both are close to the beach and have Motel 6 nearby ( i travel with my dog and generally always stay at Motel 6 as they are cheap and pet friendly).

My hopes for a trip: spend all day outside walking/hiking/playing/relaxing with my dog. Spend all night playing poker. I prefer not to be too exposed to rough neighbourhoods and dangerous situations. I want to play NL games where typical stack sizes are least $300, and i'd like to play in some bigger games too, like the 5/10 PLO game at seven mile and the 5/5 at oceans.

I am not limited by time, and have several other southern california rooms on my potential radar. So im open to other ideas too. The trip starts and finishes in Las Vegas.

Any tips on where to play, and where to go, given the hopes i have for the trip?

Seven Mile:

There isn't a beach, per se, near Seven Mile. The closest is Imperial Beach and it's so-so as far as beaches go. You will be near Chula Vista Marina, which has a nice park area next to the water. Tijuana is 10 minutes away, you can walk across the border (I hear rumors of people that don't use passports, but officially you need at least a passport card). Downtown San Diego is only 10 minutes to the north and accessible from Seven Mile via the trolley (Gaslamp Quarter has a ton of fun bars and restaurants -- most with patio dining and pet friendly). There are two dog beaches (Coronado Island and Ocean Beach). In fact, you should see Coronado Island since you're nearby -- drive across the Coronado Bridge, take your dog to the beach, walk around the Hotel Del, and find a nice place to have lunch.

Itinerary:
1) Gaslamp
2) Chula Vista Bayfront Park
3) Coronado Island and dog beach
4) Poker at Seven Mile

Oceans 11:

Oceanside is a big beach very near to the casino. There is typically surf, but the water will be cold this time of year. Carlsbad is also a big beach, just to the south, with a quaint village area. Carlsbad will be more upscale than Oceanside. Del Mar is 15 minutes to the south, and even more upscale and picturesque. Legoland is nearby, but not sure how pet-friendly they are. La Jolla is about 20 minutes away and has world-class beaches (the Cove, La Jolla Shores, Blacks) with beautiful scenery and marine life (this is where I'd spend a day in San Diego if I only had one day to spend). Seriously, don't miss La Jolla Cove, it's breathtaking -- and there are very good hikes at Torrey Pines.

Itinerary:
1) Carlsbad Village and Carlsbad Beach
2) Torrey Pines hiking
3) La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores/Blacks
4) Poker at O11

Have fun ;-)

Carnivore, just a heads up, the last time I was at 7Mile (11/24) they were running 20/40 O8 instead of the 5/10 PLO. Give them a call and find out which of the games have been running.

If you have your car, definitely check out Coronado Dog Beach and walk Orange from Ocean to the Bay. If you just want to see the ocean and want your dog to have more fun, I’ve always thought Dog Beach in OB was better, as it is more of a Beach for the dogs to play than a Beach where you can bring your dog.
