In either case, the two magic words you want to use for recruiting are "bigger pots."

Live players are drawn to the idea they could win big (which is why they will pay stupid rake for a MTT with an big $ prize pool).

Couldn't disagree more. In places where PLO has grown in popularity, it's because of NL Holdem players looking for more action. No one cares about the Limit O8 player pool...they could all disappear tomorrow and I doubt anyone would even notice.
You're actually right about this. Take a look at Commerce, they have introduced a 1/2 $100-400 ($5 bring in) PLO game and it has consistently been going 1-2 tables. The 1/3 PLO half hi/O8 has been limited.

Honestly I feel that a good portion of SD limit O8 players are just slowing bleeding chip and killing their time.
Game is slow and rake is high
Probably limit O8 needs at least 8/16

I hope O11 can introduce PLO straight hi

Dang I'd like to start going to Oceans again but it seems like their overall number of tables and games aren't what they used to be!

Doesn't help that Oceans has some of the toughest games as well. Only bonus is that pokeratlas shows their live game info.

I tried to organize a small stakes PLO in San Diego. I had some interest but then nobody actually showed up for the game.

If anybody is interested in having a regular small stakes (like 1/2) in San Diego, shoot me a PM and we can try again.

Hey all,

I will be staying in the San Diego area (Carlsbad) for a week in February. I am looking to play poker each day while out there. Are there any casinos in the san Diego area that run 2/5 or 5/10 NL games all day during the week and not just in the evenings? I know commerce is a little over 90 mins from where I am staying and will be playing there a few days, but I don't want to drive 3 hours everyday if I can find games in the area where I am staying.

I called seven Mile and they wouldnt give me a straight answer if those games run during they day....so any input from 2+2 would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Oceans 11 hands down. It's the closest to where you are staying AND the one that will have the games you are looking for on a regular basis.

Any Pala players have a guess how many entrants will there be in Saturday's $10,000 estimated ie., not "guaranteed" Monster Stack Bounty Tournament?

Pala has become known for wildly inflating their estimates over the years.

I like the structure of this tournament and want to play..unless there is only going to be 1 or 2 tables like there has been in similar non-guaranteed tournaments in recent years.

Thanks..

Don't go there. My true opinion. Pala advertising is trash. I say prize pool is 40 buyin(include reenter/rebuy /add on). But January is a slow month.

Thanks, I will probably just play the Oceans 11 First Saturday of the month tournament which is $240 buy-in and $20,000 guaranteed.

Have a feeling the "$10,000 estimate" will end up being more like a $3,000 prize pool, less the $50 bounties, making it a $2,000 tournament for a $190 buy-in.

That would be pretty consistent with what Pala has had in the past.

Oh, Pala..so much potential..

No problem sir. And good luck.
From my experience , last year I always drop by pala from my routine trip (harrahs->pechanga)
Pala cash game 1/3 or higher always have 7-8 regulars per table and the action is not good.
Pala also stream their 2/3/5. Even with no cards, you can see the players and actions.
Tournament wise, pechanga have good tournament. If I just want to kill some time (not winning money) I rather go pauma (compare to pala )
