ilike23,

if you go to the Ocean's website and click on Promotions -> Poker Games -> Racing for Dollars, it gives you the breakdown of rake back. Basically, the promotion runs till the money (it's been 500k for as long as i can remember) runs out, then they reset it and start over. The more you play, the higher your rake back rate will be.

As far as the $5 blind NL games are concerned, yes, it is the only game in the greater San Diego area. The next closest cardroom that runs it on a regular basis would be pechanga.

I am absolutely loving Seven Mile the past few months. Action has been crazy at 2-3 nonstop and the few times I tried sitting in the 5-10 it was pretty loose with plenty of rich gambler types. Haven't been running super good but I'm gonna keep playing nonstop until the games slow down.

I checked out Seven Mile this week while in SD for the first time. Couple of quirks such (could just be because I have only played on the East Coast and Vegas) including: 1) when clock is called they take out 1 minute sand timer 2) the big blind gets a button that rotates just like the regular button 3) more than once the dealer skipped the first person to act in a multi way, post flop hand and a quick cascade of checks occurred. First player would say " hey I haven't acted yet" but the floor ruled that they "had to check because more than 2 players already checked". This happened more than once.

In terms of the games I played some 2/3 nl and then the 8/16 full kill o8. incredible tables for both.

Anyone hear about what's going on at Lucky Lady cardroom? I saw on the news they got raided by the FBI yesterday morning in relation to some money laundering or gambling charges. Anyone know anything?

Looks like they are being accused of illegal sports betting. Feds are 1 step closer to their goal of 0 card rooms. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/...rganized-crime

I am going to be visiting Sunday to Wednesday this week and will likely grind some hours all day Sunday and evenings for the rest of the week at Seven Mile. What can I expect in terms of game selection (types and limits). Any info is appreciated. I've checked poker atlas but am curious what is likely to actually run during the times I'll be there.

The games will probably be incredible the whole time you're there. Probably 2-3 2/3nl games during the day, up to 4-5 at night if they're really busy, maybe a 5-10nl. I haven't been to Seven Mile in a few months but when I was going more frequently there would be a good chance of 5-10 running. They were experimenting with 2-5 and 5-5 games but they never seemed to get a lot of traction.

There's been at least one 5-10 game almost every time I've been there, which is like 8-9 times now. They also get a 5-10 plo running sometimes as well. The 2-3NL games play a little shortstacked but other than that it's good action.

That's crazy. It definitely isn't oceans 2/3 deep but I always seemed to find massively deep tables on Friday / Saturday nights. It was common to be playing 1k+ deep in 4-5 spots.

Those 1k deep stacks are built on the abuse of the short stackers who buy in $100 at a time...

How's the 5/5 at oceans? Is it only good on weekends if at all?

Pretty much a nonstop nit fest with a bunch of old guys waiting to flop a set. Occasionally it's alright if some drunk fish is sitting in the game or something. Maybe a couple times a month.

Well fwiw the 5/5 at this seven mile is incredibly soft. No 5/10 tonight apparently.

They spread it last night. I run bad of course but the game was great. Played pretty small though.

Heading down to del mar for the races and will be staying in north SD area for a few days. Any chance of 5-10 nl or plo + on thursday at O11s? Do they still have the bigger NL game on Friday? When does the game start or end generally? Thanks

What has the PLO landscape looked like of late without Palomar?
Have only been playing poker when out of town.

It's really just the 5/10 at Seven Mile on weekdays. I don't believe the game at O/11 has run much at all on fridays. Occasionally with the right people we'll get a 5/5 running on a saturday, but that's a game we have to build ourselves and based on who shows up that day, and often it's either a good 5/5 NL that will run all day/night or a super juicy 5/5 PLO that will only survive while those 6-7 people, plus the occasional straggler, are there. The house clearly prefers the NL game too, so it can be a struggle.

the 5/10 has seemed pretty good, but not as good as it was earlier in the summer. a few more of the old 10/25 regs from the palomar are showing up, a few NL pros/regs are moving over there playing very tight fit-or-fold and fairly shallow, and it's tougher to get a seat in general. but when the right whales show up, it's amazing as always. it's still almost certainly a better game than the NL, but the only thing they have in common are the blinds really.

Poker Atlas seems to show a 2/4 PLO8 going occasionally at O11. Does anyone have any details about that game?

I'd be interested in details on that and the Mix that is on there regularly.

The $2/4 PLO mix runs mainly on Fridays, and the game usually gets underway around 4-5pm. The game is played with the pink $2 chips, and it is a mix of PLO and PLO HI-LO. Buyin is between $100 to $400. As is the case with most PLO games, there's usually plenty of action. Player pool is mainly the dedicated Omaha players, with a couple NL Holdem players looking for a change of pace. Personally I wish they would drop the HI-LO portion, as it slows down the game quite a bit, and it scares off recreational players who are unfamiliar with split games.

Frankly, I think you're approaching that the wrong way.

San Diego has a player pool of limit omaha 08 players. Limit 08 players tend to be beyond terrible at PL08.

Rather than trying to get rid of the game, you should be going around to other card clubs and the Indian casinos to recruit players.

Couldn't disagree more. In places where PLO has grown in popularity, it's because of NL Holdem players looking for more action. No one cares about the Limit O8 player pool...they could all disappear tomorrow and I doubt anyone would even notice.
