plo almost got two games running last night. i waited for over 4 hours for a seat! the game was still good though with a nice pot won by T987 vs. T976 all in pre for like 5 bets for $800+ each. they ran it twice and it was scooped!

i still don't understand how people sit there content to look at 2 cards while missing every flop. it just doesn't make sense.

Place was packed yesterday because of Memorial Day weekend. I thought I got off work super early and still I was like 8th name on the 40/80 LHE list with two tables running.

Got to play the PLO for a bit before I got my 40s seat. It was a lot of fun and looking forward to it again. Will most likely be at Oceans tomorrow, hope either 40/80 or the PLO game runs.

when I say 8 I meant 8/16 LHE

ya the place was packed friday night. I showed up at 2 and 2 40s were running O_o. Since I've been told that the time to play the 20 is when the 40 is running I sat at the 20/40 (first time evar) just as it started. Game was super good, I had a decent session too. A little swingy but good.

Glad to hear you took your shot and it went reasonably well.

I observed the 20s game briefly on Friday. It did look like a good game. Oceans is a great place to build up a roll when you start out.

Good luck.

andy and i played the plo game on sunday night. it was a pretty fun table. andy brought a couple of newbie friends and we all had some good laughs. didn't really meet you andy, but i'll say hi next time.

we were definitely having more fun than any of those "hold them" tables!

For sure it was good times - yeah chilidog I remember ya will def say what's up next time.

It's odd that the PLO game doesn't get more traffic. 1-2 blinds, food comped, 200-500 buy in, $5 bring in / $15 max opening raise so it's red chips only after blinds... stacks get deeper and deeper... it's just all around a very solid structure and welcoming of new players. my buddies had fun even though they are relatively PLO nubs. We moved to the 20-40 game later that night, but to make it as fun as PLO, one guy had to blind cap pre flop, twice. the fun factor just isn't the same.

Does the PLO game every run on weekdays? I'd love to get there on a Tuesday or Wednesday (or tonight!). If 40/80 LHE isn't running I think I very much would rather play PLO than 20/40 or 5/5.

How do the games at O11 on a weekday compare to Friday or Saturday? Will there be any 5/5+ NL or PLO running ?

PLO only fridays usually (i think one got going a weekday recently but that was an anomaly) , there is always 5/5 running in my experience tho. And nowadays they can get 2 games of 8/16 and 20/40 going, maybe 3 tables of 2/3 at peak time on weekdays.

Games are usually pretty good. Fridays is by far the best / busiest night, but Tuesdays are also now an action night (10/20nl goes). PLO runs every Friday and other sporadic times depending on interest. There are multiple 5/5nl games running daily that occasionally make it thru the night.

Thanks guys.

Chilidog, any idea why Tuesdays are an action night?

at o11, never seen the PLO run any other night besides friday, but maybe it does?
5/5, 2/3 been running around the clock. 2/3 is pretty nitty game during the week, but gets a little juicier during the weekend from my experience.

i think the 5/5 game is the best to play in, it has a lot of old nitts but also has plenty of regular feeders, and the game plays pretty deep most of the time.

iv seen that 10/20 game get going and it looks insane, wish i was rolled for that.

ya I saw a guy call a $4k river bluff with like 4th pair or some crazy crap like that last friday. That game is off the chain. It was some scrawny asian kid that did it, the dealer at my 20/40 game said "ya he crushes that game, he's gonna take all their money if they aren't careful"

The 10/20nl crew decided to play on Tuesdays in addition to Fridays, so there is a trickle down effect into 5/5.
There is a google email group for the PLO game. Players will sometimes send out messages to start a game on a night other than Friday. A couple of times we had the PLO game run 4-5 straight nights.

yeah if you never fold any pair you end up making a lot of great calls and when ur running extremely well you wind up being up against nothing a lot. when you arent running well you blast off 100k playing a game with a $20 big blind cuz 45% wtsd isnt all its cracked up to be in nlhe. that said hell still win all their money anyway probably since nobody good plays the game any more i guess. his winrate will suffer a little cuz i finally wised up and decided that i shouldnt play nlhe cuz river bet of 100% w/o showdown value is even worse than 45% wtsd.

Btw I feel the day games are way softer than night-graveyard. This is only from a few sessions though. Saturday games are good as well I believe.
Playing the 8 tonight

I'm going to be in SD for ten days late June early July.
Can anyone suggest a good casino for tournaments?

I have been to Barona and played one of their weekday tournaments but it was rather savage on the structure and blind levels so won't be looking to go there again for a tournament.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There's no real tournaments in San Diego. You would have to drive up to Commerce in LA for anything decent.

Speaking of tournaments, i know it's kinda late, but Pala is trying a new (well, new to them) structure for a deepstack tournament tomorrow (Sunday), at 3pm.

$130 buyin, $10k guarantee, 10k starting stacks, and a nice slow structure. I kept whining to George about the crappy turbo-like structures that Pala (and every other casino around here) has that he finally got so fed up with me he gave in and said, "Fine! you design the structure!"

So I did. Well, actually, i just looked at the Venetian DSE structure and modified it slightly.

If it goes well he's looking at doing this once a month.

If you are looking for a SOFT field, low buyin event with a decent structure, come out tomorrow. Trust me, this would be +EV for any 2p2er, lol

It will be interesting to see how many people sign up. I always like playing there after one of these because a lot of soft cash game play happens as people try to "make up" their tournament buyin. Unfortunately my wife is playing a LIPS event at the Bike so I won't be able to make it today. Let us NoCo regulars know how it goes!

I am a regular at Viejas. Been really slow for the past few months. I might be seeking to take my action elsewhere, but they have the best rewards card and still some action.

Fun little story from a few nights ago. I was playing 1/3 NL, limped UTG with AA and there were 5 limpers behind me. The BB popped it to $21. He's a regular, a few weeks ago we were 1st and 2nd in a tournament, generally a solid player but can make extremely questionable plays. I sized his stack and made the obvious limp reraise to $71. He called all in. I flipped over AA, then he mucked preflop in frustration and left the table. I thought this was funny because he had KJ and wins 1 in 8 times.
