Sorry for the bad info, the game ended up playing bigger than the last time I went, we played 10-25 and midway through the night we switched to half NL half Mahjong. I won 12k, and I don't expect to be invited back. They will probably just change the secret password to enter.

Did anyone play the Ante Up event at Rancho? How was it?

Sorry I played the 2pair magazine main event instead. (In Petaluma

It was fun I had a solid run and played all day at the same table with espn wsop announcer Lon McEachern. (Great guy)

But I heard the ante up was sold out so that was good for them. Haven't heard any other reviews.

I initially wanted to attend ante up and it's much closer to home but after comparing the structures I decided the 2pair event was more my style.
We ended up almost tripling the prize pool guarantee. The attendance was more than expected and staff did a good job adjusting on the fly.

Flight 1C was Saturday 6pm and we ended up with over 100 players in that flight alone!

Bogut got double guttered in a 2.2k pot and told the guy to enjoy it cause he needs it more than he does. Made me chuckle a bit

Yeah A few friends of mine were invited to play with Gerald Wallace in his hotel room a while back when he was in town to play the kings. That's when I learned that these guys could live completely off their per diem (food money) that the nba provides on every road trip.

NBA per diem is currently at $124 per day. If they are going on a 5 day road trip then each player is given an envelope before they leave with $620 cash. I can imagine the poker bankroll gets pretty big after a couple of road trips. No reason any of these players should ever go broke.

Bogut probably wasn't event using his own money. It was probably the per diem money.

How did the home game play with GW?

So you think a couple of road trips at $620 a pop is a good bankroll for a pro ball player? Cute. Ray Allen was recently betting 10k a pop in Vegas at BJ and he's not known as a gambler. Do you expect to see many NBA players bothering playing 1/2 over a road trip with their super sweet $620 bankroll?

GW was bored with the poker and stakes after a while. The game converted to shuffle spread and pick a high card out of the scramble for $100 a pop. He seemed to enjoy that and I walked out with cash in my pocket so no complaints.

No I don't think that a couple road trips would make for a sweet bank roll for a baller. I only meant it makes it that much more sickening when you hear of another ball player going broke. Some of these dudes don't touch their paycheck and live off the per diem. Others blow 20 million in a year paying for 20 friends house and car payments.

Saw one player coming back to the hotel with a new play station he picked up at the k street mall. Guess he felt like playing video games in the hotel that night.

Got a mailer from Thunder today in the mail stating the satellites for the WPT begin March 1 but their website doesn't have any information on it at all (nor the WPT). Anyone have any info? It's an hour drive for me to stop by and pick up a flier.

Old man rant/hoping someone can explain:

What's with all the strategy talk here in Sacramento? Is it based on insecurity or is the thought that you can intimidate other players? I've played in 4 or 5 other states but ever since I started playing at Capitol I can't escape the non-stop discussion about ranges, odds, and various other concepts. I get it in when someone loses a big pot and lacks the self-control to bite his lip but generalized criticism directed at the fish seems highly ineffective.

They also seem to convince loose players to tighten up and actually consider what they're doing. But if this has some hidden power I'd love to start incorporating it into my game. I've always just operated on the concept that you don't want to tap the tank.
