I think I've read multiple times via 2p2/internet that sac is shark-infested. Any thoughts? Relatively new to live poker so....

Ya, there are a lot of good players here. That's because the fishing is so good.

I play 1/3 NL and 2/5 NL and do fine. But if you're worried about it, play 1/2 at Stones, or Thunder. The play in those games reminds me a little of the 2/4 limit games on Party Poker.

Hi 2p2,

Going to be in Davis the day after tomorrow. I dont have a car, so looking for the closest game to here. Can someone help please? Home game/poker room/ casino.

Thanks

No poker in Davis that I know of. Your best bet is Capital Casino in Sacramento. 4/8 limit holdem, 4/8 omaha, 1/3 NL and 2/5 NL in the afternoon and evening.

I suppose Cache Creek might be an option too, better call them though.

No car might be tough. I'm sure there is some bus that could get you from Davis close to Capitol in Sac. Could also take Amtrak from downtown Davis to downtown sac and get a 5 min cab to Capitol.

Not sure how much an uber there and back would be but prolly not too cheap.

Public transit is awful in CA pretty much always recommended to rent a car for stuff like this

Check with Cache Creek on the bus schedule from Davis.

I live in Davis, we can play a heads up home game? Or you could just take an uber to Sac.

Guys, if you want to vote against abarber, watch StonesLivePoker on Twitch tonight, 7-10pm.

Remember, a vote FOR Michael R. is a vote AGAINST abarber.

I know that Justin from Stones gets feedback, etc from this site/thread from time-time. I wanted to express my dissatisfaction about the Stone Survivor WSOP ME seat Event recently. As many of you know, this ultimately turned out to be a popularity contest. Of course, they can do whatever they want. However, in my opinion, I would think they would want to best skilled player vs most popular player rep'n them in the biggest tournament of the year! The dude that won has 8,600 (14 bigs) going into day 2. (I know this sounds like sour grapes and it isn't. I hope they reconsider it next year and/or offer other events to win a seat).

i disagree
poker needs popularity, needs to promote fun, gaining more of an audience and attraction to the game

Anyone a big fan of Stones? I'm still learning the game, only have played 1/3 at thunder valley, and while im not the best player the games don't seem SUPER soft as I hear.

It is very typical to have 3-4 young guys (headphones, etc), 3-4 guys older guys/asian dudes who look like they have been playing for 10+ years and MAYBE one guy who is a gambler. I mean I recognize many faces from when I was first learning how to play years ago!

These guys obv aren't crushing the games, but I just haven't found any dream tables at TV I keep hearing about.

Are games at Stones the same way?

I always preferred the Stones 1/3 because it plays a little deeper. Thunder always seemed to have too many short stacks and the $300 cap made it less enjoyable. It seems like young nitty guys are always going to be at the table. You just have to table select aggressively.

many of us play only a few hours a week and just for fun. We don't care how deep it plays, how many short stacks there are or if there are several nits.We take the first seat available and hope there are no more than one a- holes at the table and we can enjoy a few hours of poker.

Of course, but other people such as scant do seem to care about that type of things. The good thing about Sac is there's an option for everyone.

Also interested in this, as well as the $130 buy-in tournaments on Saturdays at Stones. How bigs the player pool/payouts/structure/skill level? Seems like decent value/structure.

Ive never played them but Thunder should have the turnouts and payouts on its website. You can probably find Stone's info on the Twitter feed.

cant speak about the 40k but I've played the Saturday at Stones a few months back and had something like 100-150 runners for around 3.5k up top or something like that. As far as the field its soft with weekend types looking to have some fun.

Check hendon mob. Both stones and thunder valley post all results on the site. Thunder first Saturday is always good.
