4 player "time bomb" tournament with 2 getting paid, the 3rd and 4th place players can dump to 2nd, and he gets 1st place money. In a regular tournament, you can dump chips, but you still have to beat the other player HU.

How would it work realistically with say 120 players and 12 payouts? I'm sure I could come up with an unrealistic
scenario too for standard tournaments.

My take is that yeah people may cheat, but they still have to make it to the end, be at the same table and have enough chips to matter. then be ok with splitting that money. That's a lot of ifs IMO to just immediately dismiss my idea.

Maybe I'm missing something. Are there teams of colluders roaming around Sac? Or is the population extra scummy? I'm not saying this sarcastically. I'm really curious.

It's a terrible idea. Erle highlighted only one of the many reasons why.

Pokerstars runs tournaments of this style. Instead of chopping at a certain number of players they chop after a certain number of levels. This way 3 small stacks pay exact same as one big stack and gets rid of collusion opportunities.

Ok, I concede on the time bomb.

I do think a partners event would be fun.

And have an event called the nit's nightmare. The shortest stack at the end of each level is automatically eliminated and his stack goes to the winner of the next hand at the table he was at.

I run it through my tournament strategy analysis program, but it must be broken because it has yet to work for me.

I love the "nits nightmare" tournament. I think it would be a cool idea for a Halloween tournament! Do you think a lot of players would want to play something like that? What do people think?

NITS NIGHTMARE!

Could be cool!

Thank you for pointing this out, it should be on the website. I checked and saw that it's not. I will remedy that but probably not before tomorrow. My apologies for that.

Tomorrow's event is at 11am. It's a $225 buy in with 15,000 starting chips, 40 minute levels and a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool. Re-entry and late registration are until the end of the first break (4 levels). As long as you register in time, you are guaranteed to get into the tournament.

Find me tomorrow, I'll get you a brochure.

Justin should do some polling of his regulars to see what they want. I don't want to win another 2-table SNG.

Justin...have a $1000 buy-in event and run daily satellites to get into it ($115-$120 buy-in). Furthermore, whoever wins a tournament during the series gets an automatic entry into the $1000 Main Event. Just a thought.

Stones has a house rule to where if a seat opens the dealer will offer the open seat to the players at the table, if no one decides to take the seat within the allotted time the dealer will lock up the seat until a new player comes in, making it no longer available if a player sees a particular individual come in and wants to switch seats for one of many reasons, this obv hurts players with brains and should be addressed IMO

Silly pointless house rule

I would like to address your concern here Julian. The players at the table do have priority when a seat first opens up. The dealer will offer the seat to the existing players and then lock the seat as you described.

Once the seat is locked, the gaming attendant will then be alerted that the seat is open and call the next player to the game. The incoming player now can be notified that their seat is ready and go directly to their chosen game and play immediately.

This procedure was created because too often a player will wait until the last minute to claim an open seat as a new player is arriving at the table. In this case, the incoming player now has to stand there and wait for the moving player to deal off or play the rest of their hands before moving.

If you prefer to be on the other side of the incoming player, simply let the dealer know which seat you would like and when it opens they will promptly assist you in moving. This way all players can receive the same consideration and top notch service.

Stones put a lot of effort into their rules and procedures. I assure you that there is a "point" to all of them. If you are ever unsure, you already have my number and can always text or call me. I am happy to answer any questions. I first saw this rule implemented at the California Grand and I honestly believe that it makes seating players into games and keeping the games full, a much more efficient process.

My apologies for your bad experience.
