Agree Sheraton better than Marriott. I am not sure if Four Seasons has reopened or if they plan to even have a poker room when they open. But either are incredibly soft at l ast a year ago.
Last time I went to PR (about 5 years ago) I stayed at the Intercontinental in Isla Verde. During the weeknights there were no games but on Th/Fri/Sat night there was at least one 2-5 game going there. The game was very +EV, and I would say that playing ABC poker is profitable, despite the rake.
A funny hand I witnessed and a perfect example: UTG straddles to $20. Multiple callers. UTG shoves for $200 when it gets back to him. Last to act calls with A-Q off. UTG shows A-8 off and naturally hits an 8. Loser of pot goes on tilt and dusts his whole stack off in the next few hands. Mr. A-8 then starts talking about how bad Mr. A-Q plays.
And if you aren't comfortable playing with a non-English speaking crowd, tough luck. Ellos hablas espanol a la mesa pero yo comprendo la lengua muy bien para un grigo. (they speak Spanish at the table but I understand the language very well for a white boy).
Does anyone know if they've started playing poker again? I'd like to go back in October and curious if games are running or I should expect them to be running by then.
Has anyone been recently and can give an update on any games running? I have seen some reports in January and as little as 4 months ago that the casinos hadn't even reopened but they seem to be now
Giving this a bump. Can't find any up to date info on Poker in San Juan, which doesn't bode well. Will be staying in Condado Beach. The Marriott is near by, and the Sheraton is not too far. Are these rooms any good (or even still operating)?
