Great info from all. Because (377 friends and) I will be at the Sheraton, Seneca sounds like the place. Then again, when I cross the border, I may make a trip to Fallsview, but not solely for that purpose. Sounds like the third casino is out.

Thanks to all and see you this weekend!

Hey, I was wondering if regular niagara players actually live near the casinos or if they drive in every day. I currently live in sauga and was thinking about eventually moving to niagara. I don't drive so I was thinking the best place would be an apartment that's literally within walking distance of the casino. Any good places in the area?

I'm probably going to be up there Memorial Day weekend. I just wanted to know larger than usual crowds are to be expected because of the holiday. Also, has the 5-5 PLO been running at all lately? Any info would be great.

anywhere in the world if the casino treats you better, more regs will play there and the game isn't as soft as some place that treats you like ****, has terrible dealers and floormen, and so on. i've played in at least 10 countries and the softest rooms are always the worst-run rooms. nitty pros don't want to be treated like pieces of ****, which is how Fallsview staff treat their customers.

in Fallsview it's also not so much how many asians go and play there(NYC has more asians than toronto for eg. and yet in Atlantic City it's not the asians who make the game soft..)... look at the economy in Ontario vs NY state and tell me whether it's canadians or americans that would have more disposable income to throw away at the tables... PA and OH legalizing casinos also take away some of Seneca's customer base/money inflow..

I'm a semi-regular at Casino Niagara, but I live in Buffalo. Since I'm only 19, I can only play in Canada and Turning Stone (which I'm going to for the series).

I go up about 3 times a month. Usually come out with 200-300 profit, however in the beginning I lost a good amount in the first few months.

I don't really like Niagara. Sure they're a bunch of fish but the atmosphere of it is just... Idk off-putting. The dealers are usually friendly though. A lot of asians who you can't really understand. No phones allowed for the BBJ.

It's a good casino to make a quick 200 profit and leave. I've noticed that most people who get to 600+ start to lose it a lot with all of these players playing K 7o and hitting rivers.

Good for beginners. If you have questions, feel free to ask!

I live in Niagara Falls but not walking distance from the casinos....honestly most places within walking distance are pretty ghetto. There is a nice apartment building on McLeod Rd and a few on Thorlold Stone Road that are less then a 10 min drive but would be a longish walk.

I would expect larger then normal crowds but that doesn't mean the room will prepare for it so it could be really long waits. It's not a hoiday in Canada that weekend and for some reason they usually don't prepare for US long weekends.

Haven't seen the PLO game run much lately....but if you get the list started and it's busy should take much to get the game going. If you are staying until Tuesday Seneca runs a 2/5/10 (500-1000 bi) game every Tuesday starting at noon.

The PLO on Tuesday at Seneca has gotten as big as a straight 5/10 1k-3k game, fwiw

Hey guys so I went to casino Niagra and played 1/2. I didn't know how much rake they were charging and I thought it would be rude to ask. So if anyone here knows, which casino is better to be playing at? Casino niagra 1/2 or Fallsview casino 2/5? Thanks a lot for the help!

A. It should be posted on the plaque by the dealer. B. It's never ever ever ever ever rude to ask what they are charging you, in fact it's the 2nd most important thing after is there a game.

Last time I was there 1/2 was 10% to $5 and the 2/5 was $7/hh time.

Fv is way better. Very soft games on weekends. Its $7 per half hour which is high. But much better than $5 pot rake at 1-2 and they take $2 on any flop....even if only $6 in pot.

It is now 10% $6 max rake + $1 BBJ at Casino Niagara $1/$2

This makes me sick.
An easy 140 coming off the table per hour hurts games.

Yes they put it up April 1st the same time they changed the bbj....the rake is stupid high game is almost unbeatable. Plus the room is so full of dumb rules its not even enjoyable. I've been once in the last 6 months and it was terrible.

yeah basically this. The staff/decision makers there have no idea what they are doing. Games are soft but not worth it given the new rake. Most dealers don't give a ****. I saw a guy short a pot (was not in the hand), I said "ya he owes five", dealer went on and pulled the short call in. The floor staff accused me of "hiding" from them because I got up from the table to respect their no electronics device and was writing down a hand history in my ipod notepad app. Some floorperson who has nothing better to do tracks me down and "catches" me like 10 meters from the table but still inside the rail of the poker area, using my "phone," and treats me like a 13 year old. I told the guy that the casino had lost my business moving forward and all he could come up with "Im just doing my job." What a great customer service experience .

I have one more question, does fallsview casino have tournaments? If so what are the buy ins usually and how many players do they usually get? Thanks.

In the past they just have the FV Classic which is a large tournament run once a year (end of Jan-early Feb) and has 3 events a 1K, 2.5k and 5K.

However one of the few good pits they have (Matt) told me that starting June 6th they are will have weekly tournaments. The details haven't been announced yet but rumor is there will be 3 tournys a week with different buy ins and structures.

^^ That's good.

I'll be living in Niagara Falls (Canada) this summer so will probably be hitting up Fallsview a decent amount. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting the 5/5plo game running a bit more, the floor guy I talked to when I walked thru last week said it runs on Thursday nights? Anyone else know if it runs any other days?

I haven't seen the PLO run much lately....but they are always willing to get a list going. Seneca has a good PLO game on Tuesdays starting at noon. I was orignally a 2/5/10 game but I think it is now a full 5/10 game with a $500-$1000 BI.

They had a sign up that said weekly tournys coming soon but still no info on the details.

Yeah I'd definitely play there but I'm only 20. Plus my apartment is just a 15 minute walk to Niagara, 30 min walk to Fallsview. Hopefully I can help get the game running on weekends at least.

Anyway If you are American/or coming up from there then playing at Seneca is a no brainier. Trying to beat the rake and the conversion is a pretty tall order even for the great action. Plus the dealers/speed of the games is better so add in hands per hour with it you get a pretty good idea why Seneca is better.

Ive admittedly done AWFUL the last 3-4 months at Seneca which is just so disheartening considering I used to beat the 5/10 regularly there and now the 200max game I'd be lucky if I'm break even over the stretch.

I play at both Fallsview and Niagara on a regular basis.

For anyone coming up from the States. Get their early in the morning or you may be waiting a while to get on a table. Fallsview usually not so quick to open empty ones. 1/2 nl at Niagara. 2/5 and up at Fallsview. From what I have been hearing the OLG is planning on shuttering this. New plan to build on the waterfront either in Toronto or Mississauga. Probably 3-5yrs away.
Tournaments here are almost non existent unless you go to one of the Charity Casinos - Brantford - Point Edward - Great Blue Heron

Niagara and Fallsview only play 1 table sng's 10 players 10 minute blinds 65.00 to enter. 1500 starting stack Same as satties for Fallsview Poker Classic which is run once a year.
Can't comment on PLO but I remember seeing signs for it on Tues and Thurs.

Tournies run through the week like at Brantford you can google
Brantford Charity Casino. The structures are not that great but better than nothing.
