I'm surprised they decided not to just ditch the horse track completely, and seem to actually be gearing the place to be a premier horse track with a full resort gaming facility. An interesting approach, but it would be something that no other resort casino in the northeast has, to the best of my knowledge except maybe PA.

Wow that's cool! Looks like **** is bout to get real with them posting job opportunities and overhauling their website. I read about a WSOP Poker Room a few days back and someone in the MA Casino thread in the Legislation forum said something about 80 poker tables or some ****.

Don't wanna be a party pooper over here, but did anyone else read any of this the same way I did?
It's a non binding referendum.
IF Caesars wins the license they will have up and coming job openings.

It's all a big IF just as much as it was 2 years ago.. It's all up in the air.
Yes one step closer I guess, but haven't so many other places gone thru this before and everything just falls apart?

Again, not trying to be negative... Just seems we've all seen this crazy stuff before... Videos of new projects... Referendums...job listings.. ..

Moral: I'll believe it when I see it.

No, this isn't the same old stuff we'd seen before. This is the first time a town has gone to the polls and said, "YES, put it in our backyard." That's a hurdle that seems to have been growing more difficult to clear, the Taunton project is the first to break through.

Unsurprising Taunton voted yes. Education ranks low, depressed city.

I meant it as in general.
Lincoln,RI - wasn't the whole town against Twin River staying open 24hrs a day?

Back in the day with the Narragansett Indians? I meant it as a whole, meaning other States also.
Just wanna see it get done. MA needs to get on the ship asap

Wait till the people realize that more then half of the job opportunities will be low paying minimum wage type jobs. Yes the dealers, floors, waitresses will all do good but cage, security, cleaning dept, kitchen etc will all be just above min wage. Theres a reason why a majority of the min wage departments are Asian at the CT casinos. They work hard and will do it for little money, The Asian poplulation around FW and Mohegan has probably gone up 100x in the last 20 years. The local residents realize they would do better just staying on state help and not work. Sad indeed.

Ameristar just released plans for a $50m road project easing traffic from I-291 to their proposed Springfield facility. So far, of all potential projects, Ameristar is the most committed. They already purchased the property for $16m, and have had numerous meeting with city officials and the public since announcing their plans. While I believe they will have a tough time getting the WMA license, they have most likely already spent the most amount of money. Very interesting strategy, seeing as how if they fail to get a license, they will be sitting on $16m worth of land that will probably be worth half that.

Hey do you want your old account back? I see it hasn't logged on since the site came back, assume your email is invalid or something.

im one of the few hoping mass doesn't get casinos. Being i"m inbetween foxwoods and borgata, the two most action filled rooms on east coast, as the both get depleted (Borg from PA casinos, and then Fox from these eventual MA ones) things are going to be so spread out.

I felt that way initially as well, but I'm becoming more and more displeased with FW that I'll welcome something closer. Management is really running that place into the ground (not poker, but everything else).

My sister works at Suffolk on days when they need extra mutuels clerks (like Triple Crown and Breeders Cup days), and her husband is one of the assistant starters (the guys who load the horses into the starting gate), so they've come to know some people.

They tell me that Suffolk has stopped holding large events like concerts and the Hot Dog Safari, pretty much anything that might draw a crowd, because they don't want to risk any news-making incident that might jeopardize their casino bid. To give up all the revenue those events generate, they must really believe that this casino is there's to blow, and they're doing a LOT to make sure they don't blow it.

I watched an interview with Chip Tuttle the big guy over at Suffolk recently and he seemed to be very careful with his words.

Anybody play in any of the games listed on this link? Curious to hear of any experiences. Much rather drive to Boston area to play then to CT.

FWIW I know a few lawyers who work in the Mass legislature and actually helped write the gaming bill that said 100% there's no way the legislature would ever license one in Boston. They seem convinced that once the process starts it will be immediately shot down because there's a longstanding idea that casinos shouldn't be too accessible and that nobody wants it anywhere near the city. One of them said he was certain that nowhere with an actual T stop would be a site.
