With the sheer number of players at MD Live I thought this thread would take off....probably good for the bottom line though if most of the players know not of 2+2....

Um, yeah, I'm gonna crosspost this in the MDL thread. One dealer this weekend was openly telling the table to ask questions/make comments to Mike on 2p2. wtf?

Are you afraid that more fish will start hanging out on 2+2? Or do you have some other concern? Just wondering. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that though. I remember reading a couple articles in newspapers that mentioned Mike has been interacting with the community on 2+2. That will also drive people over here.

I don't see that as a bad thing.

Agreed. Of course there will be an occasional player who comes here, learns something, and plays better, but chances are if he heard of it @ MDL he's going to want to find where to post about MDL and that'll lead him to B&M or M&B, not LLNLHE, Other Poker, or SSLHE.

How many tier points do you get if you are playing poker with a red card?

Lets say for 1/2 and 2/5. I saw the FAQ but couldn't find the specific's about tier points.

You get 600 points per hour, regardless of what color card you have

Any regulars at MD Live interested in starting a Maryland based poker discussion group? Vegas currently has 2, one that meets Monday nights and the other that meets Wednesday nights.

The purpose of the group would to meet weekly or every other week to discuss hands, bettering of our games, possibly invite professional players when in town to speak, and to overall meet other pro and semi-pro players serious about their game. The vegas ones serve as support groups for players in that area and are very well organized and provide a lot of meaningful information for players. I'm currently a member of both, although a Maryland resident.

Please PM me or just respond on this thread if interested and I'll try and get a list of e-mail addresses to try and start this locally. We could meet the first time at Maryland Live and then decide further the structure of the group.
My email direct is SBerkovits21@gmail.com.

So you want a low-content thread specific to only MD Live regs? You're not going to get that in B&M.

While RC is pretty much an "anything goes" subforum, I'll note that it's not anyone's blog either. If the thread starts to get bogged down by a particular player's bad beats or live-blogging posts, we'll likely ask that poster to stop posting here.

If you like to blog, 2+2 has a blog subforum for general blogs and a PG&C forum for poker-related blog-like posts.

Yes, by all means let's make sure this thread doesn't go above 1 post per day. Otherwise we might not be able to keep up.

No problem just thought it would wake it up a little....I was actually thinking of doing a blog or challenge thread since this one doesn't seem to get too much action....

The past few weeks, as I drive right past the location for the new Horseshoe Baltimore Casino, there have been 7 cranes reaching high into the sky. There is a structure that is 3 stories high, no walls yet, but progress is being made. Last I heard, it was due to open summer 2014, but I haven't heard an update in a while. Anyone heard anything new?

A year ago I was worried that we'd have too many casinos and the poker player pool would be split making it tough to find any games other than 1/2 and 2/5 NL games. I was worried there would be 6 players wanting to play one of the other games in one casino and 6 in the other, or something like that. But now that I see how busy Maryland Live is, I think Horseshoe opening is going to be good for both casinos. Horseshoe plans to have around 30 poker tables, and they will steal (at least) a bunch of the 1/2 NL players from ML, which will actually give ML some room to hold a table for mid limit games or mixed games or other things. Right now, on Fri/Sat nights, the lines for 1/2 at ML are crazy. Moving some of that overflow to Horseshoe will be good for everyone. It will be interesting to see what other games Horseshoe runs, and how much they compete for all the players, especially for the non-peak times. It will be nice to have a choice.

I've been looking at the number of tables in use at ML by watching Bravo (the poker app, not the TV station). I've been adding up the number of tables at other close rooms, to see how much business ML has. I don't have any conclusions from looking at that, other than ML is a big, busy room. But the stat I've noticed that is interesting is that ML seems to often have about the same number of tables in use as Parx plus Chester combined. I think Baltimore will mirror Philly, which can support 2 poker rooms. Parx is bigger (and nicer, IMO) than Chester, but both rooms do OK. I think Baltimore will have a similar situation. ML will be the #1 room in the area, but Horseshoe will also do a good business. It will be interesting to see how they compete for business.

I just found this news article:
http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore...-on-oct-7.html

It says that Rocky Gap will have 3 poker tables in a few weeks. Also, it says that Horseshoe is due to open 3rd quarter of 2014.
