The number of tables from DICJ has not increased. Due to the slowdown, empty gaming tables (mostly baccarat), are now being repurposed for different games (E.G. poker).

From what I understand there are two separate quotas, one for gaming machines including all of your slot machines and electronic games and one for table games. The quota for table games are not restricted to a certain type of game.

If given the choice, most casino owners would of course opt to have a baccarat table over a poker table as the revenue you generate is higher.

So I passed by MBP's new poker room at Babylon on a Monday early evening and here's what I saw:

- It's on the 2nd floor of the gaming area. Quite spacious area and/but secluded
- The waitlist offered 20/50 (they don't have 25 denominated chips), 50/100 and above NHLE
- Seemed to be at least 2 tables at the time, but assuming they could activate more if there wasn't already more
- The room manager is Sunny/Sonny from Wynn Macau as are the majority of the room staff. I don't know about the dealers if they are in house trained or from elsewhere
- There seems to be plans for a tournament late July (probably last week of July). 11 events, the Main event buy-in looks like HKD 10,000
- At the time of my visit, there was no game going on, and no one there although the waitlist had about 5 names on both the 20/50 and 50/100 games.
- Rake capped at HKD 200 at all limits, same 5%.

All in all, can't say that the room looks bad aside from the fact that there was no one there. I asked when they actually opened and the implied answer was official opening was start of May, although they had done a 'soft opening sometime in April. Sounds like they had a few issues that they had to work out before opening, but seems to be operational now. Since no games were running, wasn't able to really check out the equipment, dealer skill or player base.

On a side note, had a friend in town for the day and took him around to the various poker rooms in Macau. This was April 28th around 5pm and what we saw:

- Wynn Macau had about 6 tables running, only 1x 25/50 and 1x 50/100 NHLE, waitlist for both was 9+
- COD had no games, no waitlist, just dead
- Galaxy had 2 games going, 1x 25/50 and 1x 50/100
- PKC Venetian had 3 games going 1x 25/50 and 2x 50/100 and we decided to play here and started a 2nd 25/50 game.

My friend's feedback on PKC Venetian - the games limit were much bigger than what he's used to playing (US$1/2 vs US$4/8 in Macau)
- While he got owned on the tables, he felt the game was very beatable and that he just played too impatient given that we had a dinner appointment to head off to and he just wanted to get a taste of what the game was like here.

Games run in the evenings. Generally after 10 pm, this is what the staff told me. Went in the afternoon and also no game was running. Havent played here yet but hope this room gets some games running regularly; would help ease the traffic at other locations when the wait lists are so long.

Currently we have 5 tables but the most number of tables we have run is 3 at the same time, run 20/50 or 50/100 every night and have done 300/600 as well as 500/1000 games although these are not regular.

My review so far:
- dealers are a tad slower as compared to other rooms, had many misdeals and exposed cards, hands dealt per hour is less than other rooms
- smoking is in a grey area in this room as right outside is considered a VIP gaming floor for Babylon's customers..I had some players at the table smoke but they were considerate enough to stand up away from table
- drinks service is fine but food takes a LONG time. another issue was with the Babylon service staff bringing me the wrong food item i ordered (language issue) when I ordered 1 of the 5 choices of Spaghetti available. PS. My favourite item is the Baked Porkchop rice
- Promos are coming up..Aces Cracked..Lucky Draw Bonuses for 4 of a Kind, Straight Flush, Royal Flush as well as $100 max rake ($150 for 300/600+ tables)
- Tournament is set for end July with main buy-in adjusted to 8K(going through DICJ approval right now before we can announce)

If you have any questions please PM.

Hi guys,

Just arrived in Macau; will be here with friends for approx. 24 hours. Anything we should definitely do while we are here? Any tips are very welcome.

I've read that not all casinos serve drinks at the tables. We were planning to just play blackjack while having some beers/drinks. Where is the best place for this?

I have money on deposit at Wynn Macau. I never withdrew it as I was intending to return shortly.

I am now in the US and wish to access that money. The cashier at the Wynn Las Vegas tells me I can only withdraw it in Macau.

Any way for me to withdraw the money without flying to Macau?

you can e-mail the cashier and have them transfer your balance to a friends account at wynn macau. no other way to get it without going in person, they stopped letting people withdraw macau balances in Vegas due to money laundering concerns

After years of playing at Wynn Macau, I had no idea you can do this. What's the email?

I know you can personally deposit funds into a friend's account in person at the cage by presenting their Wynn account number.

However, I had no idea this email option was possible. How can they verify the Wynn account holder's identity by email? Sounds dangerous, quite implausible.

as of approx 1 year ago, the email was:

wmcm@wynnmacau.com

you need to provide a photo of their passport, (scan of) a signed letter requesting the transfer, and both account numbers

It seems that PokerStars Live Macau is no longer the only one to host Live tournaments in Macau.

Macau Billionaire Poker will host an event end of the month: http://www.mbp.com/en-us/macautour-match/

Good to see a new actors. Compared to Manila where you have plenty of operators organizing events it was weird to see that only PokerStars was able to host a poker festival in Macau. Last year APT was planning an event with PKC but it was cancelled few weeks before the beginning.

Depends when your going, during tournament series the action is decent.

Will be in town for the red dragon cup end of the month and start of September if anyone's around and wants to grab some beers.

Wynn Palace Cotai

Will the poker room move to the new Wynn casino, anyone who's there can update?

"Ahead of next week’s planned opening of its new $4.2 billion Wynn Palace Cotai development, American casino operator Wynn Resorts Limited has announced that it has received approval to transfer up to 250 under-performing Wynn Macau gaming tables to the new property."

Smans, I'm going out on a limb here but considering the low table number (150, asked for 250) and the cannibalization of the other Wynn properties tables to meet the number, I don't believe that it will have Poker.

Couple that with the revenue shrink/lack of revenue for the Pstars room across the road at City of dreams, it would take a miracle for any finance guy to give the green light to poker at the expense of Bac/HL tables.
