Do you think as there's a tournament on at PokerStars there will be more cash games running over there?

CoD has cash games running only when there's a tournament.

Are you playing just to play poker? Or are you trying to earn money? If you're trying to earn money, play tournaments because they have the best value. Macau has the worst small stakes games in the world. 90%+ of the small stakes games aren't even beatable. Think about it, absolute crushers at 2/5 in Vegas can eek out $50 per hour with good table selection. Well, guess what happens to that winrate when you're paying up to $25 USD in rake per hand at the Wynn? And if you're not an absolute crusher, what happens to your winrate?

So imo, small stakes are a waste of time if you're coming for a visit. You're going to wait up to an hour or two to get a seat if you're late, and then you may sit in a game where you're losing money to rake.

Macau is for big tournaments and high stakes poker. The smaller things are just entertainment for tourists, not for serious grinders. This is why every month or two, all the small stakes grinders get wiped out and a new wave comes in. It's because the games are almost unbeatable, even crushers can hardly make minimum wage.

That's what happens when the corrupt money stops flowing. Good for China, bad for poker players and casinos lol

Then just have fun! You can always call individual casinos ahead of time to ask what tables they have and how long their waitlists are. Most casinos won't let you sign up on the waiting list unless you're there physically though.

The party itself is full of corrupt ****s moving money offshore.

I personally want to see China fall on its knees but I don't think the world is ready for a catastrophe like that.

I think they're improving rapidly and wish them the best. They actually have scientists and engineers running their country and might be able to do some good things for humanity like pushing green energy breakthroughs.

I don't want to see then collapse, just reform and get better.

Venetian has a big room, check it out. I rarely play now so I have no idea about rake etc but you should be able to find a bunch of 25/50 and larger tables there (after you get off the waitlist). And COD is just across the road...

Wynn and Venetian are the only rooms that have games 24/7. For the other rooms, call ahead of time because there's a good chance they're empty on a weekday.

Venetian usually only allows 1 or 2 tables of 25/50. I've seen waitlists get up over 50 on weekends, so plan accordingly.

If I were you I'd make the Wynn my cash game casino and spend my free time visiting other rooms to check them out. Wynn has the best service, mostly competent dealers, good floor, really nice room, and lower rake than the Venetian. But the Venetian is worth checking out just to visit the casino because it's still the world's largest casino and it's still pretty breathtaking if you've never been there.

Guys, I'll be in Macau and Hong Kong in June/July and was wondering what casino should I go to play live poker?

Plan is to mostly play some 2/5, don't know how it translates to in HKD.

Which ones do you recommend?

there is no 2/5$ in macao. Minimum is 3/6$ (25/50 HKD). you can play at Wynn, there is only 1 or 2 table and you'll tilt waiting for a free seat. I recommand getting there early like noon or 1PM!
you can also play at venetian, but rake will kill you, because 25/50 HKD rake is the same as 50/100 HKD and i think it can be as much as 250 or 300 HKD (rake is 5%).
Good luck

Thanks a lot for the info, much appreciated.

When you say to play at the Wynn, are you talking about the one on Cicade de Sinatra?

Because there are other Wynn hotels located in the South of Macau like the Wynn Palace and the New Wynn Palace.

My question may sound/be silly lol. I'm not sure hahah

there are only two Wynn in Macao: the Wynn located in Macao "mainland" across the street from the "old" Lisboa and the StarWorld which is ground zero for cash game poker in Macao, and Wynn Palace recently open on Cotai. During PSC I was too lazy to check if it had a poker room, but it's quite sure the action still is at the "old" Wynn.
As you've never been to Macao , those are details you'll find out when you arrive.

Good questions, i'm told Lisboa poker room closed shortly after APT was held there last december. can anyone confirm this?
if it did close for good, this room would have lived for only six months or so.

i'm unsure about galaxy, as it's a bit far from cotai strip but i never hear anyone talking about it
