These are the NL ones I know.
1-2: $50-100
2-3: $100-$300
3-5: $200-1000
5-10: $500-$1500 i think.

They also do 3-6 Big O & 5-5 PLO and maybe a couple others I don't pay attention to.

Obviously it's nothing life changing since it usually hits by the time it gets to $3-4k if not sooner, but it's all house funded. No drop for it. Also, not only no flop no drop, but no drop on any pot won under $19.
The rake is really that low and no jackpot drop? That would make Players Casino easily the most rake friendly card room in California.

How frequently do the bigger games run?

this cannot be true, or the state gaming board would come in and shut them down. by law, the MAX rake must be taken on ALL pots, no matter if $2 is all thats in the pot and the rake is $5

The 5-10 goes daily AFAIK. There always seems to be one table going when I'm there. Multiple 3-5 tables throughout the day and evenings.

Are there any 1/2 PLO games that run in SoCal that you guys know of? I was told it runs sometimes at Hawaiian Gardens but it hasn't been running any time I've called. Any suggestions?

I've heard that 1/2/5 goes at HG regular, but have never been.

Greetings. I've just moved to LA last month and have played now at Commerce and the Bike repeatedly, and at Players once.

At the risk of sounding like a heretic and/or a snob, Players is the best of the three in terms of being player friendly, so far.

I was thinking about how to compare them and an analogy came to me that seems to fit: Commerce is the Walmart of LA casinos. It is large, pretty clean, well lit, lots of parking, huge selection, but with an apathetic staff, customers that run the range from nice to Jerry Springer reject, and really offers no surprises.

To my surprise and dissappointment, the Bike is Kmart: not as nice, still big, a large selection, decent parking, a staff that 80% hates the customers, and customers that 80+% hate the staff. The players here range from very nice TV/film people to folks who walk around begging from your food tray. I've played at the Bike more than the others so far, and familiarity has very much started to breed contempt. I may need a break from here for a bit.

Players Casino is the small indie place trying to get you to shop there. Customer service is actually understood, and the customers are much nicer. The dealers are friendly without crossing the line, the floor staff really seems to know what they are doing, and the place has a much nicer feel overall than either Commerce or Bike, at the cost of being over a hour away in LA traffic. Seriously, open one of these in Burbank and they would make insane bank.

Next up on the list to try are Hawaiian Gardens and Hustler. I'll see if my analogy holds up.

It runs but it usually needs to get called down a few times or started short. Once it gets going it usually runs all night. I used to play in the game regularly and now I just drop in from time to time pretty sporadicly. The last two times I was there it took awhile but it got going. 2-3 years ago when they had a host for the game it would be in full swing by 3 or 4 pm every day. That's no longer the case but if you go in the evenings especially on the weekend it'll be going. Also it's 1/2 with a buy-in of 100-200 but chances are the players are gonna want to make it 5 to come in (can't limp into the pot for 2). Anyone can object so it's not officially a bring in of 5 but I'd say 9 times out 10 that's what it ends up being.

Can anyone recommend any cheap hotels/motels in the area of Commerce Casino. The Commerce Casino hotel is like $140 a night which is a bit expensive.

this has been discussed repeatedly in this thread--search this thread only--with the words motel. ive talked about staying at the destiny inn, the motel 6, the cloud nine, among others, all of whom offer weekly rates anywhere between $275 and $350. some even have a fridge or microwave. paying by the day is high but to search that u use orbitz

I finally ventured over to Hawaiian Gardens. I only played there about 1.5 hours, so it's a pretty small sample size. The floor I spoke with was very helpful, and I saved time just asking him questions to fill in the gaps instead of playing hours to observe how things are run there.

Hawaiian Gardens ($8/$16 w/ 1/2 kill):

Drop (full table):
$5 + $1 BBJ; if no flop seen, $1 + no BBJ drop; floor staff will not modify drop from posted amounts which decrease to $4+$1 at 6 players and $3+$1 at 5 or fewer (no BBJ drop with 4 or fewer)

Kill:
any amount, period; if you raise and just win the blinds, it's a kill

Game Selection:
While I was there (2am on a Saturday night) there were 5 tables going). But I have no idea what things are like at other times. Here's where I need more hours grinding to collect data.

Rewards:
Player Card system; 10/hrs. gets you a free entry into a $20 entry fee tourney on Sat. The qualifying period is from Thurs. morning to Weds. of the next week. In other words, even if you play 10 hours on Fri., you can't play in the tourney the next day. You have to wait until the Saturday of the following week. The floor I spoke with said this is the only form of player rewards currently.

Jackpot:
$10K seed; forgot to ask whether it increases daily; $100K every odd hour between 11am to 11:59pm; there's an extra hour from 1am to 1:59am on at least Sat. and Sun.; regular jackpot is Aces full of 10s or better beaten by quads or better; not sure if the hand requirements for the super jackpot is higher

Ambiance:
You're basically playing in a circus tent; brightly lit; plently of room between tables; deck changes allowed every hour; didn't see any dealer or player abuse (but only 1.5-hr. sample size); dealers announce when new players are in
