How do the Palm Beach 5/T games compare to Vegas 5/T games? How easy is it to get a seat? Are there no other regular 5/Tnl+ games in London?

There aren't any other 5/T+ games that run regularly and the ones in Las Vegas are way softer than the ones at PB or London in general.

Looking at https://twitter.com/ThePokerRoomUK the Vic has had 5/10 running at some point nearly every night for the last week or two, difficult to tell how long they ran for though.

£5/10 at the vic usually runs 4-5 times a week these days. Alot of the times its filled with regs, some very good, others breakevnish, and maybe 1 or 2 thats not very good but still decent, and 1 or 2 spots in the games max. Not the greatest game in the world and from what I see on LATB those games look 100x softer

When did Aspers get rid of their big sports screen?

One or two tables of NL run nightly. Think it's tame too.

^^ Yeh I thought was still the same as it was a few years back.

I do remember a period where it was so busy they used the restaurant to cater for more games.

I went to Vic on fri night instead and it was appalling. The fact their bowl mtt runs then is also annoying.

There seems to be a new gang of self-righteous live pros, who I've never seen before in the years of going on/off and it is enough to put you off. Constantly switching tables making it obv who they took pos on, acting smug etc. Standard stuff which goes on everywhere but I guess not playing live on a regular basis anymore maybe I less patient with it. This is coming from someone who hardcore bumhunted msnl for a decade online so I'm hardly a poster boy for poker. But it was just a terrible atmosphere. There was one young girl who I wont describe further who was just the absolute pits in terms of demeanor and smugness. Action was terrible (1/3 & 2/5) and I actually had to drink my way through it and move to a 2/5 plo game which was fishy as ****. I can see now why plo is the way things are moving, playing NL with these people is pure torture.

Seat hopping is even more obvious and annoying at Hippo. Some of the pros have no qualms making sure they sit every single game running that night and that everyone knows it.

That description of villain is 100% enough to know who you're talking about 😂 I only gangster the PLO streets and play very little holdem but her and the crew associated with her do have that smugness - great word!

Hey yeh I mean I didnt wanna describe her exactly as it was tiny sample (albeit I know what kind of character I'm dealing with instantly) but its obvious who it is. I've subscribed to your pgc thread btw, its awesome - gl with the anxiety. Dont blame you plo wise, what I described is enough to put anyone off.

PStars Live @ Hippo tweet out about 20 Event Schedule for January

https://twitter.com/PSLive_Hippo/sta...76658904039424

What they really mean is 9 event schedule, only 6 of which are actually Poker.

Hi!

Im traveling to London next week, and I will have a lot of time to kill during daytime, from approx 12.00-20.00. I hope someone can answer some questions for a London newbie.

I read the previous pages here and I suppose the Vic, Aspers, hippodrome(?) and the Empire are my options?

What stakes are usually running during daytime? Is there anywhere to play PLO?

Thanks!

The only games you're likely to find at the hippodrome or empire during the day are 1/2 NLHE.

The Vic has more of a range of stakes and runs some PLO and Aspers has a lot of 1/1 and 1/2 but regularly runs PLO (not sure what time of day though, check out their respective Twitter pages).

Afternoon live poker in London during weekdays is quite bad with just a few full tables of regs passing chips around amongst each other and often with a waiting list. If you must go in the afternoon I'd recommend Hippo or Empire for half-decent table selection opportunities and to keep away from The Vic whose poker room has the atmosphere of a poker club rather than a casino. You'll still likely to be up against knowledgeable opponents in the afternoon (wherever you go) anyway. It will be 1/2 at all venues while The Vic have 1/1 thrown in.

Aspers is a bit out of the way and I've personally regretted taking the journey out there on far too many occasions. Car park prices at weekends are disgusting while the journey out there on the tube and back is a drag, especially after a losing session. I know you stated you can play only play up to 8PM, but if you can really stick around for the 9PM and onwards shift at Leicester Square (Hippo and Empire) you'll enjoy a much better atmosphere with the drink flowing and players being much more sociable. Stay from midnight and beyond and the action can get insane!
