Are they are plo8 tournaments in London? I know the vic had an omaha series a few weeks ago apart from that I can't find any plo8 (non cash) action

The Fox as a Saturday afternoon PLO8 tournament every month/month and a half. It's only small though, think the buy in is £40+5 and get's about 30 runners.

I got persuaded to play a holdem mtt at the int the other day. The place looks crazily in need of a refit, the place didn't have many people there, there was no fun element considering it was a small buy in and the worst was that since there was an overlay they let their staff have multiple re entries/rebuys presumably on a percentage deal with the house where they just shipped every hand. This seemed bad practice to me as these players could do insane things to build up a stack as they hadn't paid to play and neither had their backer the house and can reenter so long as there is still an overlay.

It also messes up the comp in that whoever picks up hands vs these players gets a big stack.

And that shocks you about the International, lol. Long history of house players, dealers getting hourly rates for playing cash, and so much more.

Shame as they've got some great staff, who don't deserve the club to constantly put down, but it's not their choice really, and if you had the offer of either go home, and get no pay because we're quiet, or play for 50/50 in the comp or cash game, what would you do?

wtf those minicabs are ripping you off. I've taken minicabs ~6 or 7 miles and paid £20

Payouts in the mtts will be massive. I imagine the cash games will be great too.

any cash game players here who play the vic? What levels do you play i find the 1/2 game to be much much tougher than 1/1 and even on 1/1 most of the regs at the vic are by no means fish its such a tight game like pulling teeth very hard to get paid.

id say im a reg, playing any PLO and most NL... but definitely not the 1/1 since its the worst game on this side of the universe. it really is just despicable, unbearable awful. if it comes down to pulling my own teeth barehanded completely sober or playing in the 1/1 id prolly have to weigh up the pros and cons. should be a fairly close.
other than that ... i wouldnt call the 1/2 particularly tough, it can be fairly tight sometimes though.

and without tapping the glass too much, there are ways and means to beat a tight game

I don't care about the glass much.

If people are too tight then you should play looser than them. You can often steal blinds. You can often three bet to steal. You can often play position. You can often raise cbets on drawy boards. You can often triple barrel bluff. In short, you can do all the things that internet players have been doing to live players ever since ~2006.

Sorry, not trying to be a dbag, but this is just wrong. The 1/1 at the Vic is not a game you should bother with because of the rake, but the regs who play 1/1 will be fish. The regs who only play 1/2 are fish also. The regs who play 2/5+ might not be, and it's not that hard to figure out who is and who isn't. If you really think the Vic 1/1 or 1/2 is a tight game filled with non-fishy players, you may have to look inwards a bit.

The Vic 1/2 is a tight game and I have a great deal for you if you would like to buy London Bridge (station or actual bridge, your choice, I don't mind)

I don't necessarily agree with you - I've essentially never run into a good player live in the UK, but I've played ~3m hands and played for a living for three years. One man's fish is another man's shark. I tend to think I'm good but I'm sure there're people who'd salivate at the idea of me sitting at their table.

Well that's precisely the point. There are diminishing returns the higher you go, but if the 1/2 regs are sharks to anyone then it would be in those people's interests to stop going and instead work on improving their game.

the genting series starts this wednesday (day 1a), followed by 1b and 1c thur and fri. (fri is nearly full) with day 2 on saturday, and the final on sunday.

its £400+30, and has £100,000 garrentee which im sure they will smash. (late reg and alternates available)

there is a £60 freeze out satalite tuesday evening, 7pm with 10 seats garenteed.

it looks like the place to be, as they will almost certainly max cappacity, as its not a huge venue. il be there, undecided which day to play, most want to play the friday, and i would expect a stronger field on the wednesday and thursday.

if i make day 2 il be sure to give some details, and hopefully run good enough to make a deep finish.
