You know that banks and post offices, and many other shops, offer this service, right?

Played 1/1 at the Vic today from 4pm until 11. The games were absolutely atrocious...couldn't quite believe that live could be so bad. 70% of players were nit shorty reg things, not quite sure why they bother going....

Managed to get unstuck somehow at 22:45 and shot out the door lol.

How often does 1/1 run at the Grosvenor Leicester Square? Wish i had the damn roll for 1/2 :[

For anyone that's interested - there's a little Bureau De Change inside a sort of tech/phone shop across road from The Vic/Rymans & I got <$2 off spot (or what XE advertises) with no commission for a few k $. The bank/Post Office and other BDCs were all much worse. $2 off spot I've never got before so thought I'd recommend to you guys if needing to change currency. Shame £ sucks so bad currently.

This is why I never go to the Vic. As I understand it, there is some big rake race that makes it desirable for retired nits to sit there on a short stack to rack up enough hours to qualify.

I think the Grosvenor Leicester Square has 1/1 every night after a certain time, but I guess it will also have the brutal 10% rake.

In theory (if you could get a table), Empire would run 1/1 with 5% rake, last I heard.

1/2 is better in general, but obviously it's very important you stick to good bankroll management, given how high variance live cash can be. Also, for the love of god, don't shortstack 1/2. Your edge is much lower than 100BB+ deep playing a TAG strategy in a smaller game and all the regs will hate you haha.

I normally use https://www.bestforeignexchange.com, they have a few locations in London. If you preorder online then their same day rates are pretty good. xe.com is 1.2121 today and they're doing 1.2055.

Arguing with some friends about this..
What are fair odds to lay someone to make >£2k profit from 1-1 at the vic inside one month. Date to date specified.. can have unlimited roll to start but must end up winner end of month. For this bet lets assume the person in question is better than any reg in low stakes poker.

Something like 1:1 up to 1.5:1 (in your favor).

Hey folks, looking to play more of the live pokers in London this year... is there a summary anywhere of current options and what mid-high stakes stuff is running regularly? Mainly interested in any plo/mix games or nl 2/5+ as it seems like there are a million 1/2 nl games everywhere? ;-)

Also interested on peoples feelings about live mtt rake here, seems the Pokerstars festival events will have 10% + rake in all events including main/hr?

5/10+ PLO runs daily at the vic. Can get feisty.

If he's in any way competent it shouldn't be hard at all, I'd definitely say under evens.

Might be losing my job this week, I'd take a crack at this.

What would be a real challenge? £4k?

Player has job 8am til 6/7.
would have to beat >10bb/hour after 10% rake in games that often play shallow / very passive and commit to 200 hours.
Agree more than doable, but i wouldn't say its easy

The job makes it harder in terms of needs to stay fresh and alert but at least he isn't losing out on the core hours. If I were going to give this a go I wouldn't be playing weekdays before 6pm anyway.

Spoiler:
What would be a real challenge? £4k?

Yeah sounds about right. Would like to give this a go tbh. Maybe in the summer when work is quieter.

Id say its very unlikely, and it'll depend 100% on variance (e.g if he would play 1 year id give him 10:1 that he couldnt make 24k at 1/1). Id probably give him 1.5:1 for 1 month though. If he is generally a luck box then 1:1

Ok, full time job changes everything then. The 10pm-4am shift would normally be where the bet is won and lost.

I'd just go every day at 2-3am, buyin for £200, drink many fruity cocktails (with umbrellas) and crush souls with Q3o. Easy game.

2p2 1/1 game soon imo.

In that vein, how about a prop bet where I have to play a certain number of hours at 1/1 in a month but have to have a minimum blood alcohol content. Will get a breathalyzer, drink before hand and maintain or improve my level throughout the session.

i think £2k in a month is too easy, i think i could easily achieve this as long as i could put in good hours on a friday and saturday night, especially if there's a local festival/comp on.

would need to be a sizable bet to make it worth while, plus the person your betting with needs to be 100% trustworthy, as there's too many easy ways this bet could be cheated and easily won (chip dumping, weeding on, false profit amounts etc)

One thing i can say, i remember plenty of £1k+ stacks and winning sessions at the 1/1 at the vic, i would love to take a £2k challenge on over a weekend at the right price :-)

Depending on the weekend in question I would take the other side, or do a 'most profit Friday evening - Sunday midnight' kind of thing....

There's regularly 1/1 games popping off that play bigger than decent 1/2 games, i.e. £1k+ stacks, opens to £15+ etc.
