Popetman are you still going to those 2/5, 5/10 private games you mentioned in this thread last year?

Palm Beach you get a guaranteed 5/10 game or two going from around 9 or 10PM. All I know is that the minimum buy-in for this is £500. Some buy in for £5k+.

The Vic is a bit hit or miss for anything above 5/10. I've struggled to even get into a 2/5 game at weekends.

Well yeah. It's a huge game. Obviously if there are bad players in the game pros will show up.

Build it and they shall come

Exactly. Decent pros off which London has the most in Europe are not gonna pass on a decent big game.

Hello there,

I've booked a hotel room this week to come down and grind in London. I only want to play PLO and probably only between £1/2-£5/10. Is there a reasonable chance I'll be able to get in a game everyday? Arriving tomorrow.

Thanks. BigA.

yh that's quite possible. even if both your commutes to and from work are during peak times. i'm guessing both of you guys only make 2 journey's a day for 5 days a week.

Just wondering, what are the live cash games like in London during late-June to mid-July? I'm talking about stakes like 5/5. Do a lot of regs go to Vegas during this time, are the games softer or more dead, or are there more tables due to summer?

Thanks

still lots of games in london, if you want 2/5+ your best bet is the vic or palm beach, plus most of the regs from those games are in vegas, so should be a good time to play

Plenty of business men won't be in Vegas yet still want to play!

I'm heading to London next week from the US and would like to play some poker on my vacation, I just have a few questions:

1. I am staying near Hyde Park, would the Vic be the most convenient place for me to play 1/1?

2. What is the min/ max buy in for 1/1?

3. How much/ how often should I be tipping the dealers to not look weird? I am used to tipping after winning every post-flop hand.

4. Are drinks comped in London casinos? If they are, can I take a chip off the table to tip like in the US? Also do they stop serving booze at a certain time?

5. Do casinos in London have smoking sections indoors or will I have to go outside to smoke?

Thank you guys for any help you can provide, I look forward to visiting your city.

A pound every post flop hand won or two if there is over a hundred in the pot.

Leicester Square casinos are near, but they're 1/2. I don't even remember if the Vic is 1/1 or 1/2.

You'll be fine if you do 1 every big pot. That'll still be more than half the regs.

Not comped, it's against the law. You can pay for them with money off the table. I think the Vic stops selling alcohol at 2am.

There's a covered balcony at the Vic (it's basically straight down from the toilets on the poker floor, unless they've changed the layout in the redesign)

The vic has 1/1 and doesn't serve alcohol between 2am and midday if I remember correctly.

I dunno, I seem to remember a session in which your tipping etiquette was severely called into question

Spoiler:
Happy birthday

hey guys,

I have been playing online for a long time with good results (so far this year 5.5ev bb at 50nl over 500K hands), and I decided to play live in london for the next couple of months. I have very little experience and I have a couple of questions to my fellow london grinders. How good are the games in casinos generally at the 1-3 ? What casino is the best for what reasons? The only time I played live in london was for 2 hours at the vic at 1-2 and thought that the table was pretty soft.. What hourly do you think is attainable for a player with good knowledge but litle to no live experience yet? And finally what bankroll would you suggest to play 1-3 and 2-5?

Looking forward to what you guys have to say; cheers !

All 1-1 and 1-2 is very soft, passive, stationy.

Hourly : it obviously just depends how u adjust to live from online. What stakes were u beating online? Live is very different. Much easier but takes some getting used to.

Bankroll : ppl may disagree but I personally think 3k is enough for 1-2. If u have no experience live then I would either get experience first, or double that + living expenses.

I was beating 50 nl fr zoom , and what casino do you think is the softest / best value ? I heard vic has a 5% rake capped at 10£ which aparantly is huge.
