2/5 solace or usd?

I am contemplating going out for 1-6 months depending on what the action is.
Managed to get a room share a few blocks aways from the casino with a peruvian chica for $380 per month all bills included. Maybe that is a little high i'm unsure? Maybe it's because it's Miraflores and only a 2 bedroom apartment.

I'm currently playing £1/2 as my bread and butter game and up to £2/£5 when ever we get a game that high. As you can see 1/2GBP is like 4/8 solace or $1.5/$3USD. If this 2/5 is solace and only runs every so often maybe i would be better busking on the street I think with the sounds of it from past posters the games are 2/4 solace? with 1000 max 50 min(which is really bad (22.5BB SSers even if they dont understand optimal shove fold ranges is going to be yawnsville to say the least!)

I guess expecting £200/$325/800 solace a week is probably optimistic in these games

Anybody in Lima now feel free to PM me. If you have knowledge on nightlife, best cash action and eating/drinking spots that would be great to know.

I went to Atlantic casino in miraflores tonight (a Tuesday) one short handed 10/20 soles game, and a 10/20usd game with a ton of action and a waiting list.

Now I'm across the street at fiesta, there is a decent 5/5 soles game here and a dinkament going on, fyi future teachers

I meant, future *travelers*.

Locals said it was a quieter than normal Tuesday.. presumably because semanta santa just happened.. Game never stayed full, played 6-8 handed most of the night.

Decent action, one solid local, a couple other gringos who were decent, a couple standard live droolers and a relatively consistent stream of pure spew, much higher frequency than I would expect to see in the states.

Rake is f'ing criminal at 4% up to 78 soles, plus two for the jackpot.. (so max drop is like 27 USD).

Game was really easy though so it somewhat makes up for it. Plus free (good) food and free drinks.

Seemed safe. I recommend Uber to get around while you are here, especially if your spanish is weak.. It tended to be cheaper than what I could easily negotiate with the taxis.. And much, much nicer.

5/5 sole game was 200 min no cap.

I was in for 500 and out for 1300.

On my way out of Peru I'm again in lima for a couple days.

Went back to fiesta, another Tuesday. Game got started at about 715 and quickly filled up. By 930 or so it died in favor of the rebuy donkament.. Not sure if it started back up or not.

Sorry if anyone finds this offensive, but Peruvians are really bad at poker. Combined with "whales", it's like nearly everyone is a fun player passing big wins back and forth.

My spanish is rather bad still, a d I don't think my presence was particularly enjoyed. In 500 out 1185

Wednesday, showed up at seven to fiesta. No players. I waited till 8, still no players, though I was fed a nice criolla. I'm now at the majestic, about a kilometer down the road.. Two games of 5/5 going, and I'm fifth on the list.

Took only fifteen minutes or so to get a seat, both games went strong until I left at 11. I left because action had dried up and I was too shy to try and switch tables.

Again, just super soft. None of the crazy arrrrr mega spew from fiesta, but still pretty transparent, rather loose poker. In 500 out 1800.

Definitely recommend majestic at this point. More spew at fiesta but games don't run every night and have a tendency to break... Though it's only a 5 sol cab ride to majestic from fiesta/atlantic so it doesn't hurt to stop by.

I'll go back to majestic tonight for my last night.

Played a few hours at Majestic, per eof's recommendation, last night.

The game was pretty loose and face-up, but probably just barely beatable due to the rake. It was a good time, but I doubt I'll be back. The massive rake just forces such nitty-ness that it is incredibly boring to me.

In for 800, out for 830.

Only need a sample size of 1 to experience the rake

As it was, the play was really bad, I can't imagine it being much worse.

If I can scrap together enough local currency, I think I'll give the 25/25 game that I saw at the Atlantic City Casino running last night. Rake 3%, capped at 52. Will report if I do.

Hello, Anybody out their playing poker in Peru whos reading this?

I am going to be arriving in Lima Peru Dec 4th and staying through Dec 11th, visiting my wife’s family.

This will be my 4th time in Peru in the last 14 years.

2008 was my last time their. So will be 11 years since I been their , so Im sure the poker situation has changed some.

I remember playing poker up in MiraFlores. They were fairly small games, and small tournaments. Stake-wise for cash , I think it was something equivalent to a 1/2nl USD in the states, but I think even smaller. 2/5sol I think it was. The exchange rate was around 1USD for 3 Sols back then, so I guess that would be a .66cent/1.60 game USD.

I remember it being very soft.

In the last 11 years I have been playing bigger, so I am looking for biggest NL games out their.

Can anybody shed some light on whats going on over their in Lima /MiraFlores area for poker?

Thanks for any feedback.
