I had read 12 tables as well. I think 12 should be fine to start, I am hoping all of the bigger games from Harrah's move to Holywood. If it can support more, I am sure they will find a way to support it.
This thread weirded me out when I saw it on my subscriptions page. I had to come in here just to figure out "When did I post in a thread titled "Kansas City" and wtf forum was that in?"
I'm likely to be in KC during the week next week. What games might I find on Tue / Wed / Thu? Anything non-NLHE? Are the tournaments worthwhile?
Lots of information in this thread, but most of it seems to be old, and somewhat weekend-focused.
Thanks.
2-5 PLO is your best bet and will definitely run on Wednesday (At Harrahs). It will also probably run on Thursday and maybe Tuesday. For NLHE everything from 1-2 to 5-10 will run.
Sorry - don't mean to hijack the thread but I am looking for a face to face KC poker coach and Wilt is just not in my budget.
You can contact me at MEDIABLITZ AT YAHOO.COM
Currently play at Harrah's ($1-$2 cash and tourneys) and Ameristar (just started going to $85 tourney - final table 7 of 9 I've played). I play from 1 to 4 times a week.
I am profitable on the year (I record and chart everything) but would like to take it to the next level in prep to bust a move at the St. Louis WSOP Circuit Event in April.
Maybe even just a study buddy where we can get together, sweat each other, push each other, etc.
Hey guys, I havent played in a couple of months and was wondering what the atmosphere at the Ameristar was like on a Thursday night. Any 2-5? Is the Bad Beat still 350k+? How many tables usually? Is it just the regulars or is it a mixed crowd?
dont usually get a 2/5nl at amerister bc they offer 75% rule on 1/2, so the games play pretty deep. thu, fri, sat, they usually get 6-9 nl games and 2-4 during the week
So how do you guys think the new casino by the speedway will do? Any chance of the bigger games moving there? 2-5, 5-10? I'd personally love to get a 10-20 to 20-40 limit mixed game going but I'm sure that would be a long shot... Any thoughts???
I doubt we'll see any more variety of games and probably nothing bigger than 5/10 NLHE. But i'm thinking that room will do very well out there, we dont really have a room that is close to other major attractions right now. AmeriStar & Harrahs are basically all by themselves out on 210. Being out south by legends/racetrack and closer to the Johnson county crowd could certainly bode well for the quality of those games. Lets just hope its run well...
I'm really hoping so as it is about 5 min from my house. It will def be a lot closer than the other 2 for the JOCO players. Does anyone know what type of perks as far as hourly rate or anything else they do for poker players at the other Hollywood Casinos?
I think it will do very well as long as they don't try to use any crazy rules like Harrah's used to a while back. I would expect them to understand the accepted rules as they did run a decent room at Argosy not too long ago and hopefullly they can easily find someone with experience to run the room (anyone heard who might be the head of this new room??).
Also, count me in if there is ever any 5-10, 8-16, 10-20 limit game of any kind in this town or any mid-level game between 3-6 limit and 20-40 limit. This town is in dire need of this game as there is just a void for limit players who want to gradually make the move up from 3-6 and not jump into the insane 20-40 game at Harrah's.
I know there is not a huge community of players on 2p2 here in the KC area but would anyone be interested in getting some type of mid limit (6-12 to 20-40) HORSE/Mix game going once the Hollywood is open?

I a game for 6/12 or 8-16 Horse-8-or 10 game. I know aot of the staff that has been hired to run that room. Most of them traveled the circuit for the past few years and the gu that got the room knows how to run a room. So hopefully Kansas will let them play more than just horse as I love Badugi and triple draw as well as plo and nlh. I am game for Monday or Tuesday 4-8 or higher on Mix games or Limit games. Call or Text if you get a game at Hollywood put together 208-Mix-Game is my phone number.
