Did you play and if you did, what was the structure? The one I played was $250 buy-in, 20k in starting chips, and thirty minute levels with the blinds starting at 25/50. The one I should be playing Saturday is similar except it is $150 buy-in with twenty minute levels.

Played today, sixteen entrants, and finished fourth. Will probably play Monday at Ameristar.

I checked Bravo a couple of times and it looks like Hollywood is the only location that has 2/5 running at least semi-regularly?

True. Occasionally everyone gets fed up and moves the big games to another room but it never lasts

That is pretty pathetic. You will find Ameristar and Hollywood (Monday and Thursday @ noon) usually fill their tourney's. Harrahs is in last place when it comes to tournament poker in KC. They just have not been able to recover since Hollywood opened up. Used to be my go to place - packed out with cash tables on Wednesday nights. Now they are doing well to have 2 tables going.

They canceled the tourney because they couldn't even make a sit n go.

I enjoyed myself both times but was disappointed at the low turnout after there being ninety entrants the week before for a tournament that was a hundred dollars more to buy in.

I've decided to not play the cheaper (below hundred dollar) buy-in tourneys and will play the better structure tournaments once a month.

The wife (at the time my girlfriend) and I played a tournament years ago when it was managed by Harrahs. If the tournaments are held in the same room, it is quite small.

Back then, it was a $13 rebuy and I rebought twice without cashing while she didn't rebuy once, finished fourth , and grossed $134.

She really didn't like poker until then, but that changed her mind.

Played the sunday $45 NL tournament today. They maxed out with 40 entrants. It was a very passive game with nearly all open limpers. Had a 100% Cbet success as well. Payout structure was to 7. Would recommend it to people in the area.

Hollywood does not do $1-$2 - they do have 1-3

Harrahs just about always has 1-2, problem is it's usually only one or two tables

Ameristar usually has a table going but they are more about the 3-6

Yeah, if I had a choice I'd go east to St. Louis.

Was at Harrahs last Saturday night. They had 4 NL tables running. So did Hollywood really take all the cash game action in this town or is poker really this dry in this town?

Yup, go to Hollywood - first they took all of Harrah's best dealers (and some of Ameristar's) and then they took the players.

Side note - 4 tables on Saturday night is actually a bit of a recovery. For a while it was only two. Not kidding.

Not to be confused with going to East St. Louis.

Reminds me of the days when I put too much faith in internet based maps and directions. Wanted to go to the St. Louis Zoo and ended up at another zoo entirely.

I simply described what happened. I wanted to go to the zoo, relied on a map site for directions, and found myself in a bad part of St. Louis.

Neither. It is my way of pointing out JoCo (Johnson County Kansas) IS part of the Kansas City area.
