I was pretty surprised when I didn't see a thread for Jax here, I've been on deployment for the past 8 months but I've been checking and it seems there's a 3rd room opening up over by Regency, and we have another WPT event! I didn't get to play the summer one but I can imagine the side games were ridiculous. I've also heard from people that the rooms are going to up the limits to 200-1000 on 2/5 and 500-3000 on 5-10, can anyone confirm?

I am starting a campaign to change Florida law to raise the wagering cap for legal home poker games, and can use help from other Florida players. Please see this thread in the Legislation forum.

You can play at either one, but BestBetJax is about a half hour closer to you AND is the nicer poker room as it's only 7 months old. They don't, however, have 1/2, only 2/2 and 2/5. Honestly, if you're a decent player, do 2/5. The rake is the same and the play is soft. Good luck!

I think the address is 201 or 205 Monument Road.

Actually there are 3 Best Bet rooms, one is St. Johns to the east, one in Orange Park area, and the new one on Monument Rd. There is no comparison, the new Best Bet Jax on Monument Rd. is the nuts. It's a huge room, good action, many casual players, and very well run. The only draw back I can come up with is that they don't give comps.

It's not even close, hit the new facility you'll be happy you did and I think you will be super impressed. Here's a link to directions and the address:

Yeah, the new room on Monument Road for sure and a WPT series starts there this weekend (maybe what you're coming for). A lot of casual players will be playing the cash games waiting for the donkaments to start and such.

Hey thanks, this is where I ended up. I didn't get there till late evening (11ish I think). I gotta tell you this is about the softest game I can ever remember having the pleasure of being in. A few loud drunks lots of older stations and at least 2 dudes that looked like it was there very first time playing ! Oh and no nits !! Was awesome. On my way to the elbo room now as I'm making my way (slowly) across to n'awleans

I wonder how St. Johns manages to stay in business. That place is a dump.

Anyone want to meet up at Best Bet Jax and play some poker and talk strategy in the near future? Is there a better place to post these kind of questions?

Thread bump. Anyone here familiar with Best Bet Orange Park? Do they get consistent games and action? What are the common stakes and games played there (limit, NL, PLO, etc.)? Are there games going on even during the slow times (weekday afternoons, etc.)? How does Orange Park compare to Best Bet Jacksonville?

Thanks in advance.

Bump. May spend a night in Jacksonville in June and was wondering if there was any place to play poker?

Looks like Best Bet Jacksonville has a Sunday night $40 NLHE tourney. Probably not a huge field but could be fun.

What about non-poker (i.e. any casino)? I'm more interested in VP bars.

Florida statutes do not allow any sort of video poker, slots, or table games in any rooms except for in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Indian casinos are excepted, and you'll find VP, slots, black jack, and other related blackjack style games (3 card poker, Ultimate Hold'em, etc) at the Hard Rock in Tampa.

Some non-Indian casinos have put in "California Style" table games (designated banker vs the player) in their poker rooms, where you can find 3 card poker or Ultimate Hold'em. I think if you want to play VP you'll have to drive to a Seminole Property or down to South Fla.

Moving to Jacksonville, looking for nice 2Br rentals ($800+/m) south of Deerwood/Baymeadows to Mandarin/St. Johns. Any regs/locals with advice is appreciated.
