Played in the Greenwood Legion tourney tonight. Got there at 6:30 assuming I'd miss the start but catch the cash game. As it turns out, the game starts at 7...d'oh.
Bought into the tourney and it is as it has been described. Shallow and quick. It's very soft though. Quick example:
Heads up with the CO. Doesn't matter what I have. Two spades on the flop. I check, he bets, I call expecting to bluff a spade. Turn brick, check check. River spade. I lead out for 2500 (pot is 3000) and the guy moves in over top of me. I fold and he shows...a straight??? Yeah, it's a soft game.
Played in the cash game after busting and doubled through the table loudmouth. It was immensely satisfying. He was the type that talked about every hand, regardless of whether or not he was in it, and made a huge show of giving people money to straddle if they were unwilling.
I had $210, he had me covered. Raised 67hh to $8 in MP,, one caller, he makes it $28. BB calls. As I look over to my left, the caller is already counting out the $20 and is a huge station in general, so I come along and he does too.
Flop A
, K
, 5
. I lead for $30, assuming he's got AA, KK or AK and will jam. Station folds, Assbag makes it $70, BB folds, I move in, he calls. His AA doesn't improve, and he mumbles a bunch of stuff as he racks up his last $100. I told him I appreciated the passive-aggression almost as much as I appreciated the money, he did not seem pleased.
Still a great cash game, albeit one with a very low quality set up. Plan on going back Thurs with a buddy of mine.
