Does anyone know if the Alea manages to get a game running for their rake free times at 7-10pm? Would obviously like to play when there's no rake but don't want to travel through to Glasgow and have to wait for hours if there's no game running.

Very rarely. The Tournaments run at this time so everyone is playing them, and it takes a while to get enough people to go up and play cash.

Hi all

I'm moving to Glasgow (from far away) for 5 months in feb and looking to play professionally to save for travelling round the world. Are there daily 200nl games running in the city? Also, are there ever 500nl games anywhere?

Thanks

Merchant City runs a £40 min, £400 max 1/2 game, and a £100 min, no cap 1/2 game now.

Started playing live again past few weeks. Played 5 times and won 3, Sunday afternoon bounty (chopped 3 way for 170 each), Tuesday league night last week (chopped 3 way as CL 380/290/250 iirc, made a monster ace high call for most of my stack, then got KK first hand of FT. Killed the FT tbh.) and the turbo last Thursday night also (220 as CL,110/110 although I admittedly ran like God on the final table when it mattered, bricked the thursday jackpot draw though )

Managed to finish just outside the top 100 in the Sunday Million online this week too for $1.1k, so running great. Regged for the $10m gtd on the 18th.

Champs chair freeroll tomorrow. I've played utter crap in the past 3 I've played so hopefully I've got my sensible cap on instead of playing like a ****in ******

I don't know of anywhere in Glasgow that runs a 2/5 game but the Circus (well Genting Club now) Casino in Edinburgh does. Its about an hours drive away though if you're willing to travel.

Took £80 in last nights tourny, took it to cash where i was in for £180 total, but walked with £550 after getting max value on a set, and a big cooler hand set vs my straight.

Todays Champs chair tourny was chopped at Merchant.

Top 2 took 550, 3rd took 400, and the rest of us took 300. I was down to 1/2 blind after AK < 77 with 16 left, but managed to win 2 all ins in a row, then sneaked into the final table with around 5bbs.

Also a very simple train ride iirc. (Haven't been in about 10 yrs though.)

Looking to play some cash games over the coming weeks. Trying to decide between Alea and Merchant City Gala. I'll probably end up doing both but anyone got any recommendations for what to go at first?

I know this is a Glasgow thread, but anybody familiar with the poker scene in Edinburgh? I've just moved here and so far can't seem to find anything apart from your standard casino donkfest MTT's, which I'm not even slightly interested in. I play 1/2 cash, and am looking at finding a game somewhere!

Best casino in Edinburgh imo is Genting Club Fountainpark (used to be the Circus).

Offers 50/50p cash games all the way up to £2/5 and I was told last time I was there they sometimes play £5/10 as well. There seems to a game running most nights with the exception of a Wednesday (only been on a Wed night once and there wasn't a game so don't quote me on this).

The structure of the tourneys aren't that much different from anywhere else but they are probably the best to play just because of the added value e.g. They add £500 to the Monday night prizepool - not bad for a £10 buyin/£20 rebuy. Take a look at them here:

http://www.gentingcasinos.co.uk/club...in-park/poker/

The rake for cash games is pretty good as well. Works out at about 5% capped at £3 per pot for the 50/50p and 50p/£1 games. Any games £1/£2 or higher is an hourly charge of £6 per person per hour if they have a dealer or £3 ppph if there's no dealer (though to be fair I've only ever seen it played with a dealer)

Definately the best place to play poker imo.

What times do the cash games run and how many tables are usually running?

Do they provide dealers for the tournaments and 50p/50p 50p/£1 cash games or are they only for the £1/£2 games?

Cash games run most days I think. I've only ever been through on a Monday, Wednesday and at the weekend. All cash games are dealer dealt however on the Wednesday I went through and it wasn't busy enough for a full cash game to run some players were playing their own self dealt game and I'm assuming they paid the £3 ppph.

When the dealer dealt cash games are running, the majority of the time I've been through they've had 2 50/50p tables running alongside at least 1 table of £1/£2 or £1/£3 and a £2/£5.

I went last night for 50p/50p and got there about midnight. There was one table already full and we started a 2nd and we played right upto half 5 this morning. I'm guessing the cash games get running about 10/11pm.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds good, apart from the time, as I would prefer games running through the day. Should be there in the next few weeks to give it a try.

pokerinedinburgh.com is a useful resource for keeping up to date with the Edinburgh scene. I live 40 miles away, so not exactly a regular, but play at the Genting a couple of times a month.

Any PLO/8 or limit O/8 out there?

Doubt it - only games I've ever seen being offered are NLHE. Alea offers PLO as well but I don't know how often the games run. The one time I saw it running they were playing NL 6 card omaha as well.

When I play I usually just play the tournys in Merchant and some cash after depending on what mood im in. I've played some in the Cin but I'm not really a fan of it.

PM with your skype if you want to chat or whatever

Anyone know what the buyins are for the Merchant now? There site seems to have updated the schedule and left out the buyin amounts.
