Managed to double up quickly in Monday's game hitting top set vs aces 2nd hand. Had history so I didn't bother slow playing on the 8x6x2-3 , overshoving the turn board and getting sigh called.

Then lost a ton of my chips overshoving a K J5 6 6 river after flop went c/c, turn I bet, he called (pot around 4.5k). So I shoved 7k thinking he's weak given board/line (and it should work a ton of the time as it's super hard for him to be strong here), and hadn't played many hands. He eventually called with KJ (LOL way of playing KJ on this board with no history).

Went out 66 vs QQ vs table donkey not really much I could do with 10 blinds

Finally back at work so looking to get back playing in February/March time and get back into the cash game.

Any interest in a grindhouse in Glasgow? I play 100nl online, and just about to graduate this year. Fancy prolonging being a student bum for another year.

Think all the major casino's cater for £1/2 - Alea, Mint and Merchant City certainly do. I am sure the Riverboat is limit only.

As for the MC - the regs are just bingo players that play cash on the most part.

Sickest one the other week for me - 4-bet preflop with KK, flat called in two spots - shoved for a total of £200-£250 on a Queen High flop, only to discover him making two pair Qs + 4s on the river. Sums up the standard on the most part - him declaring "I thought you were weak" - the 4-bet and the shove, certainly doesnt show weakness from what is one of the tighter players at the Cash Table.

If you are of any standard, you should regularly clear up at the MC cash table.

POW's to the extreme.

Is there any decent cash games in the afternoons?
I'm stuck on public transport cause I'm too weak to take a motorbike into the city.

To be honest, I've never played live before ever but I have a decent tight aggressive game for 25nl online so that should be competent enough to play some live 200nl.

What's the id structure and dress code like at the gala?
Only have provisional license, no passport and some places are freaky with provisionals.

By grindhouse you mean a flatshare?

I might be up for it but I'm not a sole poker player and still a lower level almost-reg at 25nl.

MC is fine with provisional, that is what I had to use when signing up originally due to being under 21 at the time.

Played on Saturday night, bluff shoved a J107 J 2 3 club board after it checked down in a raised pot. Got called by 44. Was 5 pints deep so wasn't paying attention to how FOS it looked and got owned

Was up around £150 on roulette so it's all good.

Finished 2 from the money last night at MC

Grinded out a big stack with some hero calls then 2 from FT couldn't get away from TPTK on a 10x 9 7 after the SB just called my raise pre with JJ then led out on flop. I shoved (wtf was I thinking?) when we both had deep stacks relative to the rest of the others.

Had mega short stack going into FT so couldn't get anything going.

Managed my first FT of 2011 on Sunday, which is strange for taking so long after my best run ever in December (cashing on about 10 occasions in the month). But, glad to actually run deep for a change, and went in as 3rd chip leader, BB first hand which was easily passed whilst I sat back and watched the chip leader and 2nd place - exchange a shed-load of chips. Unfortunately for me, the guy who won that pot (and as such was overwhelming chip leader) decided to raise to 7.5k from UTG into my SB. I look down at QQ, and flat - knowing full well he will C-Bet pretty much any flop - I flat and as such the board comes down 6-high (rainbow), I check, he leads out for 12k... i up it to 30k and an insta-all-in from him. With only 40k behind and 40k already invested, I make the call - AA was shown and was on my way in 10th place.

Just good to be back in at the deep end again.

Thinking about checking out the Cincinati next week at some point, as have been meaning to for a while. Couple of Qs

1) is there a dealer or is it self dealt?
2) whats the standard like compared to say the gala?
3) should I bother?

cheers,

Won the thursday tournament at the alea but didn't get the jackpot.
Bubbled on saturday night in the £20 game, donky called me allin on final table with 10 2 on a 236 board obviously hitting two pair on the river, then continued to call me a c***
Freaking joke the standard sometimes.

Id probably be looking to play a tourney if there was a decent one (I.e. no rebuys - cant stand that ####) then cash on busting/shipping it (likely the former)

I'm heading down to Glasgow on the 4th March. Just for two days, any suggestions on where the best place to play some £1/£2 cash then? I'm from Scotland but have actually only every played cash games abroad, the majority in Vegas. Any major differences? Am I correct in thinking there is no tipping in Scottish/UK casinos? I've played a couple of tourneys at the Mint casino a few years back so that my only experience in a Glasgow casino. Also if there are going to be any good tourneys on that weekend I'd be up for that.Thanks.

Not sure on the best cash games question, but tipping is allowed.

I've played the cash game at the Alea before.

Yum......

But I don't think there will be much difference between the cash games at the different casinos tbh.

Played the £20 turbo freezout a couple of times at the Alea on a sat but not had any success as I acted like a scared little kid due to lack of live casino experience but my aggressive m8 finished 3rd pretty easily by taking advantage of the old guys. its a bit of a travel for me but going to start doing it more hopefully.

As for the cash games, I think i could do well by the sounds of the quality as I grind $25NL online pretty succesfully but like I said I'm a scared little kid when it comes to casinos lol how do you actually join the cash game ? just ask the dealer or something ? and do you need to declare you are going to leave a set amount of time before you do ? any other things I should know having only played online cash before ?

Anyone go to strathclyde uni ? I emailed the guy about the poker society but never got a reply, think it doesnt run anymore or something ? any1 from the glasgow area that wants to arrange to meet up for a tourney and talk some strategy or that because I think thats what my game needs but most of my friends are donks lol

At the Alea the dealers at the cash games will have a waiting list on a whiteboard or one of the regulars will have a waiting list so you just say to them and they'll put your name down for you. I'm sure it's the same at Merchant City.

If you want to leave and you are in profit you need to give the table 15 minutes notice before you are allowed to leave but if you've made a loss then you can leave whenever you want.

As for general things for playing live cash is watch you don't string bet so just declare whatever you're doing before you do it just to be safe (e.g. to ensure your raise isn't counted as call). And it's good etiquette to tip the dealer a little if you're winning.

Shipped the deep stack tonight at MC and chopped 4 way 500/210/210/210 20 to dealer. Nice to pick up the win after running pretty bad past few months.
