I have heard of various charity games running in and around Fort Wayne and was curious if anyone had any experience playing in these games. Just 1/2 or any higher stakes? What's the turnout like? Level of play?

I have played in the one out on Hattifield Rd. (Off Washington Ctr.) The games are pretty loose, but the rake is ridiculous, I think 10% up to $9 plus the high hand BS of $1. I dont pretend to be a super star, but I dont play out there because that rake is dumb. I usually drive to Firekeepers or Blue Chip. But if you dont mind the rake, there is always a $1-2 game somewhere in town every night.

Waynedale Eagles
Hattifield Eagles
Theres also a place on Goshen Rd. and a place on Ardmore dont know the days of operation of those however.

As far as higher games, they are bit harder to find, just ask the guys running the floor at one of these places they will know.

Hope this helps.

Are you talking about the one at "the pub" off washington ctr? I have played a couple tournies there and they were well run and had a decent structure. Have never played in the cash games, $9 rake is pretty ridic.

Yeah I have been up to Firekeepers once and upto the Horseshoe lots of times, was just interested in knowing what all kind of games were happening in the area as don't always have the time to travel. That rake sounds pretty ridic, though.

What kind of turnout do they get for these?

Just wanted to say hey to the Fort Wayne, players.

Do you guys run home games? Or would you be interested in home games?

Also, I've seen the Elks have tournaments sometimes in Fort Wayne, are they scheduled regularly?

Here is a link to the one at 'the pub' off wash ctr road, you can see a tournament schedule about half way down the page. The last time I played there was 80 people (that's the max), but it was kind of a special tourney w/ some radio DJ's that had bounties on them. I don't imagine they get 80 runners for every tourney. YMMV

I just moved back to Fort Wayne.. I used to play in some home games back when I play in a lot of the bar tournies/side games around town, but that's been several years ago. Would be interested in finding regular games to play in, but more to meet local players than anything.

What stakes? I've got a group of younger guys that used to play weekly until everybody quit coming, but it's mostly micro over here. I wont play 200nl unless I'm at a casino.

I generally play 1/2 online(though mostly and MTT grinder) and 1/2 or 2/5 live but would happily play less in a home game.

Thinking about going over to the Eagles and checking the tourney out tonight. Been grinding online since the first of the year and could really use a break from it. Either that or see if I can get someone to drive up to Firekeepers with me. Been hearing good things about. Wish there would have been a casino that close when I used to live here.

Does anyone know what hours cash games at the Eagles run? Not seeing the info on the Web site.

This is more suited for the home poker forum but I might be interested if you need players to play some micro stakes, depending on the days of the week and time it is running.

I'm pleasantly suprised that there is a lot of games around Fort Wayne and hopefully we can keep this thread updated if something else comes up.

I agree with you harrypalmer, if I'm ever planning anything in the future, I'll just stick to the PMs. I'm kinda glad this thread popped up though, it's good to see other locals on 2+2.

Definitely. But nice to have some place I can pop in and play locally for a few hours after/before class.

I'm from Lima, OH - about a hr away. I'd also be interested in a home game or something, grinding online all the time gets boring.

Not just to bump my own thread, but so far it looks like there are games every day but Monday.. anyone know of anything going on Monday? Have the day off from both school and work today and want to play.. might have to try and get up to Firekeepers..

i actually remember hearing some of the local guys who frequent all the games around town talking about how monday was the only day that there wasnt a charity game going, but that could be wrong.

If some one is interested in starting up a reg home game around town i would be in. not looking to play anything over 50nl, maybe /.25-.50 or something. the charity tournaments are ok every now and again, but the rake for the cash games are ridiculous and like someone posted above i am not to excited about playing 200nl unless i am in a casino

ill keep checking back on this thread to see if a home game is going to start.

I'm currently out of town for school and stuff, but over a break or something I would probably be down with a 50nl game.

Wow. I live really close to that game on bluffton rd. but i have never been, bc of the bs rake. did they have a jackpot drop as well?

Glad to see you won though

Yeah, I think so, they had a high hand and a royal flush jackpot. It's definitely a beatable game, but the rake is still pretty gross. Unfortunately that seems to be the deal with local games unless you find a private one to play in.

maybe we can start one up? we could avoid the rake altogether.
