Some guys buy in for $200, others $500 and the regulars often buy in $1000+. Note that the 2/5 DC plays bigger than a 2/5 Holdem, and unless you're taking a one-bullet shot, you should be prepared to bring $3-4k to withstand the swings in that game.

You're welcome. I'm probably heading over there right away actually.

I don't think so.

Yellowhead has a regularly scheduled 1-2 PLO game (Thurs at 10 AM I think) each week. It was on hiatus during the summer but now that the golfers are snowbound, it should be running regularly again.

What's DC mean?

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe DC is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

DC = dealer's choice

from what I remember, whoever has the dealer button will have the choice of playing hold'em, pineapple, crazy pineapple, or omaha

if u're playing 3-6 Limit DC, then obv all those games will be in limit form.
1-2 NL, those games will be 1-2 NL, etc.

Quite a few. River Cree Resort and Casino on the west end, Palace Casino at West Edmonton Mall, Yellowhead Casino on the Yellowhead trail, Century Casino on Fort Road, Casino Edmonton on Argyl Road to name a few. My personal preference is River Cree, Yellowhead or Argyl. Others in this thread could give better advice on game selection.

My only advice is stay away from the "main" game. The most entertainment I get is Friday/Saturday nights between 8pm and 1am. That is when the non-nits are in greater abundance than the regs.

I think I may be moving to Edmonton. Whats the tournaments like? What do the average prize pools get for $50/$100/etc. I'm not into cash games that much but love playing mtts.

Best bet is ABS casinos. River Cree has daily $55 tournaments, but it's typically the same terrible regs day in and day out. Terrible to the point of making the tournaments so high variance, it's hardly profitable. ABS owns Edmonton tournaments (Yellowhead / Argyll)

Also, for those looking for 1/2 PLO, it's going daily at River Cree and has been for a few weeks. Starting around 9pm-10pm until close (2:45am). On Thursday / Friday / Saturday this game moves to Palace casino (WEM) when River Cree closes and runs until about 10am. Both games sometimes change to 2/5 along the way.

Played the Cree 1/2 plo once, and Sefik had a mandatory $5 bring in. Don't know if is still the case.

We have changed it to standard PLO. I was likely at the table when he did this. Talked with Tim, everything is well now. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Also all cree 1/2 games have button straddle now. Only the button has the option to straddle, and may straddle anywhere from $5 - Stack

I dont usually play at the Cree b/c it is a longer drive for me but I was curious as to how this rule change affects the tables. Does this really induce action?

Played for 6 hours last Saturday night at a newly opened table. Never saw it used once.
