Ive been playing at yellowhead the last little while and its gotten a lot busier since river cree made the switch.

There was 6 tables running Friday at like 2pm so no complaints here.

Any chance of getting the Yellowhead to run a DC game regularly? I am a huge fish, so it would be +ev for someone to get me at a table.

Let's try and get some 1-2 PL DC going on weekends at Yellowhead, if we start a list, I'm sure we can get a game going. I really hate NL DC and it seems to be inexplicably more popular in this city.

how about 5/5 PL dc? more fun

dealers will probably suck at dealing pot limit so the table will need a captain.

If I just shipped you about $600, could you find some other friends to share it with? Hate to think that only one person would benefit from my nut quads hand (WTF you mean I lose??? I was dealt quads pre flop!! WFT you mean I don't have low??? It adds up to 4!!!)

We actually got a 5/5 PL DC going at Palace last Saturday.

I don't think there was more than one player on the table that could beat 100 PLO online. The majority was chasing naked non-not flush draws or open-enders for pot-sized bets.

If anyone is interested in helping me to get that game going more regularly, I'd be very happy. I wouldn't mind sharing the whales with a couple of you if that means I get to play for bigger stakes with them more often.

I would be up for this.

Unfortunately, I don't have a car and getting to (or worse, leaving) Yellowhead by public transit is a pain in the ass. Do this at Palace or Argyll and I'm up for it anytime.

I've never been to Palace Casino before and I live on the North Side of Edmonton but I'll make the drive at least once. I'll send you my number.

Played the Cree for the first time since the move. Found it to be loud, smokey, and oddly, full of donks. As I commented to the floorman, it was worse than having to sit at a table with Gary.

Played the yellowhead deepstack last weekend. Room seemed full from 6pm on. Will go back to the Cree, but only because it is close and I seem to make a little money there.

One advantage might be that now that the pit is out in the main floor, more people are walking by, and there seemed to be alot of people buying in short ( <$100). I bought into a new table with my ususal $300 and was the big stack for the whole night.

But I also am kicking myself for not requesting a move. But I need more practice with table selection.

And there's a reason it wasn't doubly bad, dirtlad ... Gary went to play at Yellowhead last night. (He ended up sitting beside me just before 3 am and watched me donk off most of my stack with a weak full house versus quads.)

I really want to give the River Cree the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not sure I can do the Friday/Saturday night sessions there without serious noise-cancelling headphones.

Yellowhead has agreed to schedule a 1-2 PL half Holdem, half Omaha game on Tuesdays at 10 AM, and a 1-2 PLO game on Thursdays at 10 AM. I know the start time is a bit awkward for most, but that is when the current group of players agreed on. If you're interested, call in and put your name on the interest list and hopefully there will be a seat for you.

Yellowhead is basically 1-2 NL, all the time. They'll occasionally get a 2-5 NL or DC game going on weekends. Argyll has 2-5 PLO and 5-5 PLO regularly, as well as 1-2 NL. Baccarat downtown runs 5-10 limit DC, I believe. Biggest action these days is Argyll.
hi, planning a vacation to canadian rockies, appreciate any info on the poker scene in edmonton /calgary. trying to decide which city to fly into that can give me some poker fix on the weekends.

specifically, i am interested in PLO mostly. is there any PLO in edmonton other than the 5/5 in argyll? and how often does that go? thanks.

I don't hit all the rooms regularly, but the Century over on Fort Road runs a 3/6 DC regularly. However, I have found it to be a donkfest full of regs that soft play each other. Just saying.

I'm a 25NL online player making ~5BB/100, but I'd like to start with some local cash games as well. I have no idea what the play is like locally...is it about on par with 25NL? Is argylle a decent place for 1/2NL? It's the closest casino to me.

AFAIK gold dust games run infrequently. Probably best to play elsewhere if you can.

There are lots of forum posts covering the differences between live and online play. Generally, you will see more people at the flop, a lot more limping, and a lot more people therefore catching with hands that you wouldn't even consider playing online. Be prepared to widen your range, and perhaps chase fewer/more draws than you would online.

Good luck.

Given that the Gold Dust is just 5 minutes away down cambell road/156 from the yellowhead, I would suggest the Yellowhead just because it has more games running.
