Nowhere else has any poker yet, and Century's website makes no mention of poker at all. Are they cutting out poker? Say it isn't so.
According to the Casino Edmonton PURE facebook page, the admin guessed around September 14th as the reopening date for the poker room. They stated the casino was still waiting for their plexi glass shipment, but everything else was ready to fire back up. A friend of mine from Red Deer also let me know that Cash Casino opened up their poker room this week while PURE Calgary opened up on September 5th. I play primarily at the Cree myself, so I am unsure about Century. I would bet that everything should be open by the end of the month for sure, especially since some rooms are already spreading games - AGLC seems to have given everyone the green light.

No problem, both Yellowhead and Casino Edmonton (PURE) are now open (as of September 12th) and have the ability to run three separate eight-handed tables before increasing up to six eight-handed tables next week.

Closed for the last 3 months.
Not much of a poker city anymore...

Many raked home games running though.

So sad to not be able to play live...

Any locals want to update the thread with the current situation? Are we all systems go as of 7/1?

I’m in town at the end of the month for a week and would like to shake the rust off of my game.

Can confirm all systems are go. Argyll (Pure Casino Edmonton) is absolutely hopping these days, especially from Thur-Sunday but Tuesdays have been packed recently as well. No masks, no plexiglass, games running 24/7. River Cree is also back to normal and has been decently busy too despite closing daily at 3 AM. Enjoy your visit!

PLO is at Yellowhead but the big PLO game runs at Argyll.

Holdem is best at Argyll, though I’m running like ass there lately.

River Cree is pretty dead the few times I’ve been there.

I was in Century Casino for a show last night. The poker room has been replaced by an electronic table games room. RIP

I think that was the last place you could find a regular limit game.

Ontario made poker segregated and edmonton is one of the citys im looking at to relocate. I know the games might still be closed because of covid but hows it looking? do you guys have the same insane 1/2 rake that Ontario has? do games run 24/7?

What do you mean by Ontario made poker segregated? You're talking online?

Jim Crow poker.

Live poker in Edmonton I think has $7 rake, and it's mostly 1-3nl and 1/3 PLO, with occasional larger PLO games. I was there for a few days in summer 2021.

I hate to piggy back off this guys question but the Calgary thread doesn't have much activity in it. I'm from out of province but always heard Alberta cash games were incredible and among the best in Canada. Is this still true post-Covid? I play NL and a good amount of PLO. Is the action generally better in Calgary or Edmonton? Do mid and higher stakes games run consistently?

Thanks

Im not local, but an out of towner who has visited both cities a few times in the last 8 years.

Mid stakes mostly doesn't exist. It's either small or 10/20plo from what I've experienced. But a good small stakes game plays like a mid stakes game I guess.

Calgary has lower rake, and from my experience visiting would think it's definitely a better city to live in, more things to do and closer to the national parks. Also not as cold in winter.

I have no confidence giving an opinion on which city has better action.

Albert was the most open province when it came to COVID. While the rest of the country had shut down poker rooms, we were playing without masks in Edmonton summer 2021.

Going to Edmonton this weekend, and have heard that both that Yellowhead and Pure Edmonton are the places to play. Thoughts?

Since no one ever updates this, I thought I'd chime in.

Only 3 casinos with poker left.

River Cree.

1-2NLHE mostly, the odd 4-8 DC game. Averages games, gets wild at times.

Casino Edmonton (Argyl)

1-3 with a 5 bring in NLHE mostly, the odd 1-3 PLO game. Soft hold em on Friday and Saturday nights.
Played 5-10 PLO during last poker series. Very rare to get big games.

Casino Yellowhead
(The place dreams are made of)

Mostly 5$ single being PLO
Very beatable all days but on weekends, it's a money printer.

They do have 1-3 NLHE on Friday and Saturdays and sometimes during the week.

It's been nice having the recs concentrate in less areas. Makes the games way better.

Have fun in Edmonton boys and girls!
