Parx or Harrah's for limit in the neighborhood of 8/16?

Staying in the KoP area Thursday night, might be able to make it out it. Which is my better bet to find a decent game?

Thanks

no limit at 8/16. You can play 4/8lhe, 6/12 o/e or 15/30lhe at parx 100%. Or 2/4 or the usual no limit games at harrahs. Parx imo is a tiny bit closer and an easier drive.

No poker at valley forge.

Made it out to Parx tonight

Impressions
Room has low lighting and long tables; hard to read hands from opposite end of tables, this seems to be newish as regulars were commenting.

Got seated right away at a 4/8 table, 4 were waiting for a fifth to start playing. Pretty dry game. Played with $2 chips, WHY WHY WHY? It really is true that a 4 chip 8 chip structure gives a better game. What advantage is there to the casino to stay with a 2 chip 4 chip? Better gateway drug to 6/12 or 8/16.

Eventually got a seat at the 6/12 OE, apparently juicy game and given my inexperience, count me in the fish (or I could just claim I always got counterfeited off hands). $4 per down time charge is a good deal.

Watched a few hands of 15/30, seemed like a pretty lively game.

Minuses offset by the servers. Wow.

I hate the 4/8 chip structure and the blue chips...but people love dragging them giant pots.

I plan on playing in a NLHE tournament this Saturday, and I'm debating between the $150 at Delaware Park and the $200+30 at Parx. Anyone have any info on the structure and the general turnout is for these tournaments? Their websites don't seem to have details on structure...

You should like it because it makes other players play crazy.

Is it true that Parx has adopted a monday tourney? Couldn't find info on it on their website, but somebody mentioned it at the table behind me, but I didn't want to verify I was eavesdropping by chiming in...

Edith,

You probably should keep your day job.

Edith Bunker, all in the family????

Am I showing my decrepit age?

Anyhow I think everyone here agrees we like 4/8 chips vs 2/4.

3/6 is ok too, but 4/8 is the best. And I feel like 2/4 is ok only at the 10/20 level. Would much rather play 8/16 or 15/30 though.

Hey guys, anyone have any input on the nl games at parx? Specifically
2/5? In comparison to any other casinos?

I just started playing at parx since i moved, and used to play at sands. I like the 2-5 game at parx, its a 1k max so plays deep. Theres been 5-6 tables to select feom on the weekend and plenty of weak players. There are also quite a few regs, but they seem obvious to spot and arent super awesome. Big room. Lots of space. Its away from the casino so nice and quiet, but no wandering table game fish, which the games at borgata and sands enjoy.

OT, but which of the fireworks places on the border of NJ are the best?

Sadly couldn't make it out. Saw a 5-10 LHE??? At Harrahs listed on bravo, going since dinner. Also 8-16 list has 8 names at Parx but no game seems to be started. Either of these typical?

Short TR

Made it out to Chester Harrah's with about two hours to kill before an airport pick-up.

I didnt see the big negatives I've read in other posts. Place was hopping (some type of tourney just started?).

Everything seemed standard. Worst was one older dealer that mis-read a hand and couldn't chit chat and follow the action, others were fine.

Board seemed to run smoothly. Nothing else remarkable other than the setting--sunlight coming into a poker room and so close to the racing is unusual in my experience.

Not enough time to observe much else.

Is there a general consensus for the best poker room, action, etc. in this area? Specifically, I am a recreational $1/2NL player, and my wife sticks to $2/4LHE

I live in NY and usually travel to AC because of comped rooms, etc., but I can probably drive to most of these in less than 2 hours and make day trips out of it. The exception seems to be Parx which is about 2:20.

I would appreciate any feedback from those who frequent the casinos in the area.

If you mean the 3 PA rooms that are closest to NY. I think sands has the most tables/players. IIRC they have 3/6 limit not 2/4. I'm not sure what mohegan has for their smallest limit hold'em, but also has a good amount of 1/2.

Maybe a trip to each? there is a modest amount of random stuff to do in Bethlehem/allentown and Wilkes-berre.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs has 2/4 limit everyday I think its the only 2/4 spread in PA I havent seen anyhtinf less than 3/6 at Sands and nothing less than 4/8 at Parx. Sands has more action but I think MSPD has more variety. Ive stayed at hotels near Mohegan during the week and its been arounf $80 a night. Eithe rplace should satisfy. Mohegan also runs daily $35 tournaments which I usually put the GF in if she is with me while I pl;ay 1/2 or 2/5. Usually gives me a solid 2 hrs of peaceful cash play while she donks it up in tournies

Thanks for the feedback. Seems like MS would be a good place if I went with my wife. She prefers to stick to lower limits and a $35 tourney seems like a good way to kill time. Any idea how many runners in those?

Sands seems like the place to go if I decided to head down on my own for the day. It would be about an hour less driving roundtrip than AC. I'd probably just use the casino amenities while I'm there, so even if the surrounding area doesn't have a lot going on, that's fine.

How are the comp/free room offers if I donked around and threw a few dollars in slots? Should I even consider Mount Airy?

It depends on what day you go. On mondYs they get about 70-80 for the 12pm and about 130+ for the 7pm. The other days it's around 50. You can consider mt airy if your goal is to never want to play poker again. Place is brutal, can't even exaggerate how bad it is.
