There's a big Irish forum which could help you out with your question.
I've traveled to Cork, but never played there.
I think Macau Sporting Club is a big name there, because they advertise regularly about various MTT events.

I'd probably contact the organizers and see if they have secured any "poker rates" for hotels nearby.
Hotels tend to be cheaper to book via 3rd parties like booking.com etc, rather than directly (no idea why that is).
Transport is cheap enough if you take the bus routes, and they run pretty regularly in that area. Most you would pay is €3.30 for "long" trip, but obviously much much less if traveling into city center itself from RDS.
EPT is held in RDS I think?
It's very close to city center (you can say it's in the center), if you are looking to go out for some nightlife.
There's most likely Mc Donlads or Burger king around somewhere, where you cold buy a meal for as little as €5.50
Fish and Chips takeaways and other pizza joints can be found all around as well. Prices wary, but I would never pay anything more than say €7-€8 for a meal from these places.

I'd expect great cash action during the event, as a lot of people are going to flock for an event this big.

I am considering going to EPT Dublin in february 2016, to play in Seniors Event and maybe go to the Fitzwilliam club afterwards.

1st time to Ireland and greatly looking forward to it.

Any hints to best place for booking B&B/Hotel near RDS would be helpful.

Hi guys

I heard that 2017 Irish Open at Dublin is happening this month, how is the NLHM/PLO cash game in Dublin?

Which casino/poker room has the best action during this period?

Where do you recommend a 1/2;2/5;5/5 grinder to stay around that area?

Thank you

Hi guys,

I will be traveling to London and Dublin next month from the United States. I have a question regarding currency. Will the casinos in London (and Dublin) exchange my USD for GBP/EUR at 1:1 price? I read that in Netherlands the Holland Casinos do. I am looking to buy 1000-1500 each of GBP and EUR to play in the 1/3 or 2/5 poker games when I come.

Does anyone know the cheapest way to acquire these currencies using USD? Would opening a line of credit be possible if they won't exchange USD? I'd appreciate any insight on this!

I was just there (Amsterdam) in October. Holland casino, did not exchange 1:1. they charged a fee plus a bad exchange rate. There is also a Casino admission fee.

London, I had gotten a great rate in Prague prior to going.

I played Hippodrome & Empire in Leicester Square. Most games are 1£/2£ for 60-£ 400£ max. Some have 2/5 (500-2500£).

The Vic(Grosvernor Victoria is supposed to be the best) & Aspers(way outside in Stratford area by Tube...last stop on District Line)...

Dublin (Fitzwilliam is the place or Sporting Emporium if desprate).

I would check with your bank here 1st. All places make money in exchange rates. You hardly ever will get a true 1:1.

As of Today (2/23/2018)

Euro=1.25417

So if you exchanged $1000 USD you'd get= €803.10 if it were a true 1:1

GBP=1.39968

So of you exchange $1000 USD you'd get= £714.45 in a true 1:1.

you will probably pay more and get less.

Just trying to help

Think you still have the 2 choices: The Fitzwilliam & Sporting Emporium both private clubs you can join.

Are there any grinders who make a living for grinding live poker in Dublin?

Rake seems quite big, almost 13~15bb/100 I guess?

Just wonder if the games are beatable in the long term.

Hi guys, hope its okay to post this here. I want to get to know more online cash game players based in Ireland or even live players who are may be interested in transiting to playing online etc. I want to make a group either on Skype/Discord. I play 50/100NL on Pokerstars and I am a consistent winner at them games.

Its a lonely road playing online all the time and wanted to reach out to other cash game player who may be in the same place right now. Surely there has to be more online cash game players from Ireland than what I see in the Pokerstars lobbies or anywhere else for that matter. So if your interested please get in touch by adding me on Skype at alanfinnjunior or by replying below.

Regards,

Alan aka VCardKiller on Pokerstars
