I am kinda amazed there is no DFW thread here (I searched but came up empty).

Let's get a DFW group together and organize a mix-game evening at Choctaw (Winstar wont spread non-flop games). Lots of badugi and razz and stud and beer.

(*blutarski*) Whose with me? Lets GOOOOO.

Choctaw will spread those games?

Winstar and Choctaw both have their own threads in Poker Venues. DFW can be a mixed bag because while the players are coming from the metroplex, you have Winstar and Choctaw at 1-1.5 hours and Shreveport at closer to 3 hours away. However, none of the three are near each other.

Areas like St. Louis, Tunica, AC, Vegas, etc, where there are several different venues within 30 mins (or less) of each other seems to make them a "Community" vs separate "Venues".

As an example, for all practical purposes, Horseshoe is the only full-time poker room in Tunica now, but it's still covered under a Community, rather than a Venue.

Since you have have said Winstar won't spread the games you're interested in, and suggested that it be done at Choctaw, perhaps trying the existing thread in Venues might work better.

It does boggle my mind that a poker room refuses to spread a game that players want to play. During the WSOP circuit event, Harrah's in Tunica (now closed) spread Open Face Chinese and Big O. If the dealers didn't know the game, the players would "assist" the dealers.

Wow... if only that would be a reason to not use the individual casino threads...

Also then we could talk about local games, and get-togethers and... you know... COMMUNITY things.

If only there were a place for that.

Being that the pokerz is illegal in Texas, perhaps the "Home Games" forum? My point was that the "communities" seem to be centered around casino "communities", communities that travel to casinos. Everything I've seen in here points to the communities being where the casinos are, not the "player communities". Clearly, DFW provides a high percentage of the players at both Choctaw and Winstar, so while the players are clustered, the casinos are not.

There isn't a Louisville community, as that population is serviced primarily by Horseshoe Southern Indiana. There isn't a Memphis community, as that population is served by both Tunica and the dog park in Arkansas.

I hope you understand my point.

You can start threads for those other ones if you want.

I'm just getting back to this forum after a few days, but you seem to keep making my point for me. This is a thread for the players and community, not the casinos. We keep saying the same things. I don't understand what your objection is, especially since you keep making my point.

Let's just leave this thread in case anyone picks it up, and until then I will try to organize get-togethers and decent casino games in the individual tournament threads, I guess.

I am for DFW thread. I usually grind the Star but I like choctaw's room better. Going to check out North Dallas this week I think. Don't like their take but wondering if their promos/action can make up for it.

I like the idea of a DFW thread as well.

I'd be interested in getting a fun mix game going but can only play fri-sun.

I'll look in poker venues too if I can find it, but here goes: I'm gonna drive from Plano to OK to play 2/5NL on a Friday or Saturday. Do y'all know if Winstar or Choctaw would be better?

Thanks!

Choctaw doesn't run much 2/5, winstar has multiple tables daily
