Played $1/$3 PLO at the river last night. Profited $350 but overall was not happy with my play. Only second time playing live and I just never know when to trap/donk/or check-raise when flopping the nuts with no redraws. In general I'd flat the flop and jam any nonthreatening turns but my hands were getting pretty transparent when the turn would get checked through and I'd lead the river. Every big hand I was out of position.

Any recommendations on

Really enjoy playing there because it is not that smokey and you have a little lounge/bar area to hang out while waiting for a seat. The casino itself looks really nice since they redid it. How did you end up doing?

1. Dont play out of position

2. Dont trap unless you have the deck crushed. Make people pay... and they will pay.

3. Dont buy in short

4. Have multiple bullets if possible.

my two cents

Re: Detroit

Thanks gambit, not sure why my post cut off but I had a really tough time adjusting to playing PLO live. I've played probably 75,000 hands online, mostly HU and 6-max, but full ring live is a completely different beast. I know that all small stakes, live poker is pretty awful in general, but I started off raising from the CO and button when limped to with pretty much the top 30% of my range but found that I was still getting 5 callers and the pot got way too big to play postflop without connecting pretty decently. The alternative is limping and seeing hands 7 ways which becomes a guessing game. I played way tighter preflop and after a while told myself that it's not worthwhile to raise preflop. I know that's bad but after dusting off half a buy-in, it just was not profitable. I was getting donked on every single board.

On one button, I got 8875 double suited, someone opened to $15 and I flatted (not sure if it's a three-bet or not) and the flop fell 567 rainbow. First guy opened to $15, I raise to $45 (because of the blockers) and he 3-bets to $120. I folded because the dude was a 90 year old rock, not sure if this is an lol-easy fold.

Another hand that I'm not sure about. Small blind with AA75 one suit. 6 players in, I flat. Flop comes A4J rainbow I bet $15, BB raises to $40 and I call. Another one of those is that an easy 3-bet, ship any turn card? Turn was a 4. I check he bet $75 and I went to $175. He snap folds.

Last hand I'll bore you guys with. I had KKxx on the button, flop comes KJx, I bet $40, one call. Turn comes an A. I check, he bets $100, I call. River is a J and I jam first to act. I feel like I played this hand awful too even though he paid off my river bet. My only guess is that he had AQ10x and I got lucky but again I think I played my hand pretty face up.

Someone coach me, please!!!

Over the last 5 months I've played about as much live 1/2 1/3 PLO as I can find (Toledo, Hammond, E. Stick, Joliet, AC/Philli). PM me some thoughts, go from there? Whatever you want to do

If you are there I will play BBT Saturday. Give us a heads-up on Twitter and here.

Trying hard not to get kicked out of motor again but ignorant people really get on my nerves. I tell a guy that folding out of turn affects action in as nice of a manner as I'm capable of, and he gets offended and basically tells me to stfu then goes off for 10 mins. Awesome!!!
