The whale blew through 4 buyins then the game slowed down when he left.
I live very close to BB and should play there more often. I was suprised it was so busy last night.

I was lucky enough to sit to this guys direct left and in the hour or so I was playing my PF3bet% was ~40%. Ended up winning a buy-in and would have stayed all night if I hadn't already promised my friend that I'd go to MGM with him (which was incredibly nitty and anti-climatic, although I did get a nice 200bb gift from a guy with 10 high against my set).
The best part of the whale is that he would bet 3x+ the pot on every flop and either shove the turn with any pair or draw or shut down with nothing. He opened to 7, I three bet to 30 with kings, he called and we were heads up to a flop of A710 rainbow and he bets $150 and when I folded showed A7.
All in all, my first time playing cash there and I think I'll play again.
Also, are people laying down this hand in a charity tournament? Big Beaver, $30, 20,125 starting stack and this hand happens one orbit in. I have 22 in the BB, limps to CO who raises to 250, I call and so do 5 others. I have no real reads on anyone at this point because we haven't got to show down and this is the first pot that had 4+ players. Flop comes A62 rainbow, checks to initial raiser who bets 1,200. I raise to 3,500 and out of nowhere get a cold call from a younger guy in mid position who seems competent in the first 10 hands. Then the guy to his left cold calls too and the initial bettor folds. Turn comes a 6 which I think is the worst card in the deck because WTF can one let alone two call with that didn't fill up. I'm assuming they're raising all of their big aces pre flop and to C/C my C/R seems like their range has to consist of AQ, AK (which I still don't think they'd play those hands this way), A2, A6, 66. So I check the turn and they both check as well. River is a blank and I bet out 5k and the first flatter ships 17k more. Any hand that I beat would flat the river so is this a fold or is this a **** it it's a $30 tournament?
Thanks!
|
Flopped Set over Set I'm going broke on most of the time. However, as played, I might find the Fold Button on the River shove.

Gotcha, nice to have met you. That's funny about the player to your right, I don't think he played a hand at all. One of the more entertaining tables I played at. I think it was you, but were you the one that asked about the beer I was drinking? If so, did you try out the Blue Moon? If not, disregard

It was a very entertaining and profitable table. I will have to try the Blue next time.

Now that I think of it, why not Motor City?
Pros: centrally located, lots of walk-in traffic, decent dealers for Detroit, rxr or PLOH players might get curious and play, free food (but no comps)
Cons: not used to split-pot (but would soon catch up to G in competence), no split-pot players already there, same high rake (would they negotiate?)
MGM is really nice too, but terrible location for walk-ins. They did just get the big PLOH game to move there.

My vote would be for MGM. Sat mornings or early afternoons would be the best for me. Sundays also

I'd love to see a PLO game or PLO8 game spread at MGM. I have been playing exclusively there for about the past month (only 1/week average) but have been killing the games there. I've only been exclusively on weekends and mostly Saturdays. I really like MGM since I know a couple dealers and a floor there, my roommate's brother and his friends. I also like that the poker room is completely separate and in its own room. I haven't had a problem with any floor calls yet and have found them to be quite reasonable.
I'm sure I've played with people ITT before as I only live 2 miles from Snookers, a mile from Cada's (at home), live down the street from Heidelburg (at school) and play at MGM. A few of my best friends also are playing in the bigger PLO games (10/25/50) that run all around town.

Cada's seems to have sporadic start/stop.

When we get 5+ regulars that show up on time, the game insta-fills and becomes the biggest cash cow you've ever seen. When we get 3 regulars, or less, showing up an hour late or worse, then it doesn't run at all.
You can either get ground down by a ****ty rake and slow dealers, or you can get average profits approaching $1K each session. It's an hour drive for me, but it's well worth it if the game runs.

Is that a $1-2 PL game? 35 big blinds per hour (assuming 12 hour sessions, assuming $840 is "approach $1K") isn't sustainable. However, the game could still be worth an 80-minute drive. I'll have to check it out.

I don't think you could talk about it as an average, but more as what's possible. Depending on who's in the game of course.

Re: Detroit
In the year i've been a reg in the LO8 (coming up to 300 hours), i have five +$700 days with the max being +$913. I wouldn't call that "average profits approaching $1K each session" because my winrate is nowhere near $70/hour (more like $20/hr). I can't compare the PLO8 game based on the information ITT; what i really want to is evaluate expected winrate relative to travel cost, and secondarily evaluate variance.

LOL. Well, thanks for the compliment (i think?) and that actually points out the other reason i'm skeptical of a game maintained by multiple 2+2 regs. But they say it's juicy, so.... maybe i'll try it and see.
