I dont think there is much of an increase in the actual number of charity rooms but more likely people are becoming increasingly comfortable going to these rooms. Personally, I still feel more comfortable at mcc than anywhere but I think more and more people are enjoying the convenience of the charity rooms and slowly gravitating away from the casinos and increasing there play at said rooms.

Mmmm that's a distinct possibility. The charity rooms that I see (hiedelberg, roundtree, occasionally northville) don't seem to be very busy, but maybe there's just more attendance at places like cadas and snookers. I've been meaning to take the obscenely long drive to check them out for myself.

I will always consider mcc my home though and I dont see a huge dropoff whatsoever, its mainly just every other room other than them and Snookers where it is very noticeable.
I don't believe there is a spike in charity room attendance. What is happening is the number of charity rooms have decreased so people are just changing what rooms they play in.

I read an article, which I believe was posted here a while back, that at the time said the charity rooms had dropped from 190+ rooms a few years ago to 91 after the moratorium was put in place. Now, looking at the list I put together of active charity license, the number is down to 49.

So the rooms have dropped 75% in the last 2 to 3 years and attendance has not increased at the casinos. The problem with the charity rooms closing is that you lose the casual players that have no desire to travel that far. Additionally, the casinos couldn't support the number of players that do play. Snookers has more tables that any of the casinos but mostly for tournaments but they still run 6-8 cash tables per day.

Updated! Also adding other casinos in MI. And Toledo is close enough to Detroit to get consideration in the project.

They ran multiple 1/2 PLO tables and a 2/5 & 5/10 PLO during the chicago poker classic when I was there for a weekend.

Ive always argued that without online poker your going to have trouble growing the game. People have no place to try the game out, TV networks dont have poker shows on promoting the game.

There is no doubt in my mind that the charity casinos are making things more difficult around here. I can think of a dozen players that used to play bigger games but they've found it's more convenient to drive down the block to play and on top of that now they might only lose $400, $500 instead of a grand or two. Now people are all spread out and it's harder to find a good game. I wish there was a petition to shut the charities down. I'd help with that

Its the old pampa game, the quality can be pretty poor (any four cards will do and any low counts) to very rocky. Im assuming that new people are in the game since its a new room, but people get fleeced fast in O8 and the player pool dries quickly. This is 4th room in almost a year and half theyve been to.

What's the phone number? How many players do they have for the game?

More of you need to go to the Cada's 40$ RxR tourney on Wed night. It's more deepstacked then normal tournies. Problem is that it gets 20 people and it takes 6 hours. MORE PEOPLE PLEASE.

65 miles from Ann Arbor to Cadas ... not feasible
Sounds like an interesting tournament though.

They were full from 7:30 to 9PM. When I left at 10:30 they were 5 handed.

There was 90 in the pot and the board paired, so I was able to stack 1 guy with about 100 dollars behind.

Whew.... for a second last night, I thought you might actually end up having a losing session this year.

Tragedy adverted.

Congrats on the royal

Thanks, bro. Liked the Fuel place btw. Would like to go back for steak some time.

Yeah the royal hand was hard to believe. Straddled pf, two limpers, I raise to $20 with KJss, limpers call. Flop is AsQcTs. Checks to me and I check since I have all the cards that play or draw. Turn is Qs, first to act bets $14, guy to my right calls $14. I was going to smooth call, but this is a sticky table (as you saw) so I just bumped it up $30 expecting two calls. Seat 2 folds and seat 3 (guy who took your seat) tank jams $100. I call and say, sorry, man, since I know the guy. River is T and he makes a boat with his queen.

I won high hand of the night! Just $5 from the kitchen lol.

Good job raising the turn. People don't like to fold!

I played with a sneaky mofo last night that kept checking nutty hands. He never got paid off, and a few of us sucked out on him by not paying to see our draws.

Yeah, slow playing doesn't payoff that often at these stakes. Where did you play, Docs?
