I think they're running two every Monday now. This one isSold out. 2 tables. They also had a $100 tourney earlier today. Out of the $60 the house took $10. They pay 3 places. You'll have to call them about blind levels. They start at 20 min round and eventually move to 30 min levels

That rake seems better than charity rooms but still lol tournaments.

Is it just me or is poker room attendance down everywhere except Snookers? Is MCC pretty much the same too? I'm pretty sure Cadas and Greektown are down. Haven't been to Cadas in a couple of weeks though.

What I've seen has been down too, seems like it's been headed downhill for the better part of a year too. Mostly MGM, a couple of charities. Went to MCC the other week on a Sunday and was not impressed with the turnout (but it's been a while between visits).

At first I thought that it might be from the new casino in Toledo ... but they're not awfully busy either. Also haven't seen many DET regs down there when I've gone.

My theory is that it's related to the continued high unemployment in the area. There just isn't enough disposable income around to feed the number of poker tables that we have in the city. I noticed a pretty large spike in attendance (and my winrate) right around the auto worker buyouts and layoffs in 2008, with people that just got handed $20-30k severances donking it up in the card rooms.

But I really hope that I'm wrong and it's just that we've had a really nice summer and everyone's been outside on a boat.

I think what you are seeing is that you cant beat the rake at a 1/2 game and donkaments. Obv individuals can, but overall, rake is killing all the action imo

Sure, the high rake ($6-7 cap) around here is certainly bad for the games. The rake anywhere, everywhere, sucks money off the table. "Overall" it's always impossible to beat the rake. So to maintain a game there needs to be fresh money added by new players, or by existing players re-buying. The problem is the mismatch between the rake removing money, and the players adding new money. Games ran pretty well for quite a while at the same rakes we currently have, so I'm inclined to think the current decline is due to the influx side ... but both sides are valid.

Mcc surprisingly busy I think. 5 1/2, 2 2/5, 1 bigger game.

Are there cash raking structures elsewhere that are more player friendly? I know we're a ton better than LA.

I was surprised that in Ohio "card clubs", not the casinos, you pay an annual $20 fee, and you pay $10 per session (your membership pays your session fee the first time), and the games are otherwise rake free. They can do it because dealers work on tips only.

Obviously the rake is noticeably lower in Vegas, 10% to $4 max at many $1/2.

Rakes are lower in Atlantic City, mostly $5 max, some don't do BBJ, some are $4+1. The rooms around (PARX, Mt. Airy, Foxwoods) the NYC area are also more like the AC rakes.

I don't think that a casino could maintain a game from their end at less than 10% to $4 max. They probably really need $5.

Not necessarily. They have a drop there. Even if you chop they take $1 from sb. Also they rake at commerce based on how many people are dealt into the hand. 9 people dealt $20 pot they take the maximum drop, ($5?)

Also added phone numbers to the list. They are the numbers that came up in a yellowpages.com search so it might not be the room itself but the hosting establishment. I'll start calling each and ensuring they are the correct numbers.

I added a CONF#? column for numbers that are confirmed ITT or ones I've called. (haven't called any yet) http://detpokerz.com/project.php

If anyone wants to let me know which ones they can confirm or correct, I would appreciate it.

If someone completes an actual list of room phone numbers, I will PM Rapini and ask him to add it to the OP of this thread. I know I would def use that list.

In regards to the player pools thinning out. I think its mainly due to all the charity rooms. Ive never been a fan of them for a number of reasons and tbh I hope a handful of them start shutting down. I know its not likely to happen but if it did I think you would see a spike in players at the casino's again. I will always consider mcc my home though and I dont see a huge dropoff whatsoever, its mainly just every other room other than them and Snookers where it is very noticeable.

I have a similar dislike for the charity rooms, for several reasons that I've probably mentioned ITT before. The biggest one is that it becomes very very hard to game select, many rooms'll only have 1-3 tables running, so if you're stuck on a table with 4-5 regs that all live within a mile, know each other, and play there every single day ... you're screwed unless you go drive somewhere else.

I don't feel like there's been an increase in the number of charity rooms around ... but because of their different game conditions, maybe they suck more $$ out of the player pool faster.
