If you go to MCC then be advised that the bad beat draws HUGE waits at times, peak times maybe into the hours, phone first.
1) Search Michigan 'Millionaire Party Locator' online and then enter the city or county that you are near. This will give you a list of the 'parties' in that area. Most rooms are open until 1:30 or so A.M.

2) Casino = Pain? Not sure you can sell that one. Just stay away from the pits and you'll be fine at most casinos!!

3) I would steer towards 2/5 at MCC since the BBJ draws in a lot of short stacks in the 1/2. If you like being a bully, then 1/2 may be a good choice though.

4) Most charity rooms are 'just fine' to play at. You may want to check one out if it saves you some driving.

@Detroit ... I'll give you a B- sell job on charity rooms ..

Money to be had at charities for sure,I usually play docs Saturday afternoon and it's great game about 80% of the time. Just last week I was in for 3 buy ins before running it up to a 200 dollar profit. 2 guys in the game for big stacks that were calling down everything and hitting (most of the time, but I made them pay when they missed)

Yea I was never good in school. Felt lazy and wanted a quick comment to catch OP before he read this again. I agree I should promote more and better.

Another place to look is pokeratlas.com I love them and they are pretty close to accurate on most of the rooms listed. However they will not post if a certain room does not have a charity for that day (which is rare around here anyways except near summer holidays) unless the room calls them and can get them to post it which is tough to do.

Pain in terms of parking, having to drive downtown, all the extra curricular, and the basic crowds.

Yes charity rooms are great to play! Lots of rooms have fantastic action at 1-2 NLH, some even run PLO, RxR and blackjack. Some have really good tourneys too, with slightly better structures than at casinos most times.

My problem with charity rooms is that I often play later in the day, and selling out of chips can be a problem for places running tournaments and trying to support multiple cash tables.

You can find places on Poker Atlas, but I'd advise calling ahead to double-check hours and what's running. I often ask how many chips they have left if its 9pm or later.

Who is still running PLO or RxR cash? I know there is a RxR tournament going on, but haven't seen any 4-card-fun outside of that.

The American Legion in Ypsi runs PLO or RxR ... often. Not every day, but more often than not. Don't think anything gets going until about 6 or so, and there are usually chips left at 10.

PLO is pretty popular in all the home games I've ever seen too.

Wintergarden Livonia runs PLO on Wednesday night...howevet it is so popular you have to get there about a half hour or so before it starts to get to play

Do any of the charity rooms with blackjack have good rules ... i.e. 3/2 or more on a blackjack, normal doubling and splitting options, dealer stays on 17, etc. ?? What are the best rules that can be found?

No, and some actually have worse rules then these.

With a max chips rule by the state none are going to offer great rules, especially since the owner has to the hit if they do lose. If a room can sell enough chips with poker having no risk just collecting rake on those games then they would prefer to just do that over offering blackjack at all.

I don't think any of them offer blackjack anymore. The rules were always terrible, although you used to be able to find a dealer here and there that would tell you their down card or otherwise increase your edge in exchange for tips.

Now with the seed money for the BJ table being counted against the $15k, and all the risk, I haven't seen or heard of a room offering it in years.

Ciccarelli's in Utica (21 and Hayes) runs PLO every Thursday, starting when they open. Game plays kind of big for 1-2 PLO (pretty much playing 1-2-5 with a straddle every hand)

All 5 AHP rooms run blackjack (Wintergarden Livonia and Chesterfield, Docs, Malarkeys, and Rosie Ogradys when it opens next month.

Limits $5-$25 on all bets, can DD on any 2 cards, normal split rules, no surrender, insurance is offered, 1-1 on BJ though, dealer hits soft 17 as most casinos, and perfect pair bet is available $1-$10 or $1-$5 depending on room

Vagas = Vegas? If so, then bring as much alcohol in as you'd like. Also weapons, especially those containing metal, are strongly encouraged.

I have run it out a time or two. I bought a second Harley. I'm REALLY REALLY broke now and can't afford gas.
