Long time 2p2 lurker, first time poster.

I had a couple questions about Motor City.

1. From what I see online the BBJ is quite high, does this increase the wait list significantly? Is the wait list long normally? I saw a post a few pages ago with a number to put your name down, is that recommended?

2. What are the "perks"? I assume they have player's cards, what does that translate to per hour at 1/2?

3. I assume the best games would be on Friday and Saturday nights? Is this correct?

4. What is the play like at the charity rooms compared to at the casino, at 1/2?

Thanks in advance! Glad I finally popped that cherry, don't make it hurt too much.

Typically yes the waits are longer nowadays, however there were a few days this past week that it has been slower than usual. Friday and Sat is extremely busy and a 3 hour wait is common. On the weekends they run 10/20nl and probably 4, 2/5 games as well as at least one 5/10nl game. Because of the 10/20nl game there is one less 1/2nl game, but they will likely have 6, 1/2 games.

Call ahead. You get an hour to get there. You get no comps for playing. The do, however have a soda machine and free sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, bananas, trail mix and sometimes subs.

This Sunday March 20, Snookers has their $100 tourney. Last one they had 185 runners. Since you live practically next door, that would be hard to pass.

Do you know the structure of that tourney? That does sound hard to pass up.. is it at 4pm?

Unfortunately, I don't. Just give them a call. I believe it starts at 3 PM, but you should register super early. They always seem to sell out really early.

I play a lot at Snookers. The blind levels are 20 minutes and go in increments below.

25/50
50/100
100/200
150/300
200/400
300/600
500/1000
700/1400
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
3000/6000
4000/8000
5000/10,000
7,000/14,000
10,000/20,000
15,000/30,000
20,000/40,000

and so on. it's a great tourney considering you get 185 players with the vast majority are very poor players.

it starts at 4pm but sometimes they have a 150 person max because of 15,000$ is the most a charity can sell. in that case you wanna get there early.

Did anyone make it out there Sunday? How many runners did they have this time? Last one they had 185, and I thought that was crazy huge for a charity room.

they always sold out when they had a 150 max, but when they don't have a max i'd say the average is 180. it's the best charity room in the state by far and better than a lot of casino rooms. i didn't play there last sunday.

Talked to Don last night and he said they did sell it out so the prize pool was $15,000. There should be more $100 buy-ins. Seems to attract the crowds.

Anyone, checking out Johnny G's in Mt. Clemens tonight? I just blew through $200 at Greektown and now I'm gonna play at Johnny G's and check out the play there.

snookers has the 100$ every other Sunday. on the Sundays they don't have it, there is a poker room at 22 and van dyke (5 minutes from snookers) called The River that has an 100$ tournament with a better structure. i'm going to the river today at 4pm for the tournament.

Short TR: they have 2 tables and blackjack table. The room is roped off the back of the bar/restaurant area. I liked the feel of playing in some private game with gawkers stopping by to check out the action, and some actually deciding to jump in to try their luck.

Once the music from the club started upstairs it was a different feel to the place. Scenery was nice and the wait staff and dealers were friendly. Enjoyed playing there even there were only 6 players while I was there. Room manager said that they have 6-7 regulars that show up each night but Friday night was more of a club night.

Two hands of note: doubled up player to my left when my two pair (AJs) on the flop lost all-in when his AQo goes runner runner for the straight. Was about even the rest of the night until I lost with trips against a river flush. Then got back to even when I got paid off hitting a boat on the river.

Felt bad for one of the drop-in players who bought in for $20, waited to get it in with aces pre-flop, hit an ace on the flop for a set only to lose to a straight. But really, $20 buy-in?

This room might be too small to make it in the long run, but I suspect the easy money will attract a few regulars until the game dries up or gets moved to a bigger location. Their blackjack action was steady the whole night.

I play here from time to time, I was there Saturday. I agree with your review...it's a cool place and it's easy money usually unless you get unlucky. Most of the poker players are what I call "bar people". They buyin for $40, $50, sometimes $100...and play pretty loose. It isn't always exciting there, but I've walked out with $200+ profit a few times. The players dump their $50 to you, might buyin again, and then go back to hanging out with their friends or head upstairs to the G Spot club area.

I hope this place starts getting busier because the $1 rake is awesome for the early players. Music gets a little loud for me around 10-11pm so that's when I usually take off...but if there's a steady flow of drunk "bar people" poker players...I'll stick around for the easy money : )

Saw your post about starting a 08 game up a a local charity room. Im pretty sure Johnny G's would accommodate. They rarely get a second table going, and I've seen 3 hold em tables out at once, so I know they have more than the 2 that are typically out. Using one of their tables shouldn't be an issue.

Reason I say they'd accommodate is the managers there are pretty cool...when it isn't busy they'll even sit down and play for a while in a "free game", no cash involved, just using tournament chips to give the players waiting for a real game to start some free entertainment.

They have the $1 rake till 9pm, so I'm sure you could take advantage of that too.

Did the PLO8 run this last weekend at Snookers? I couldn't make it, but would like to participate if it's going to run again.

Tankdaddy, wouldn't mind playing it at Johnny G's at a $1 rake. Wherever people want to go is good with me.

I usually start out by hitting up Johnny's (closest to my house, and $1 rake is nice)...and if there's no action I go elsewhere. I'm all about more players coming to Johnny G's. I'd always play here if there was action at all times. It's slowly getting busier but not a ton yet.
