Re: Detroit

OK guys. Here is the update on the Mix Game.

The game is going to be held at Trip Kings preferrably on a wednesday or thursday night. We will be able to have the "high limit" room for the game. The game will have a $3-4 rake max. These are the 6 games that will be played:

LHE
O8
RAZZ
STUD
STUD/8
2/7 TRIPLE DRAW

there will be free drinks (non alcoholic)
they also have $1 drafts available and really good inexpensive sandwiches.

If you are not happy with these parameters, i'm sorry, but 2B9 and I agreed this is our best option to play this game. There is also an opportunity to get free stuff (cannot discuss here) if we keep this game going. If anyone wants to play multiple nights, let me know and we can work on that.

I think the next thing we need to decide is how soon we'd like to start this game. I would like to start next week but understand peoples schedules. Post below to tell us that you're in and that you can play next week or not.

Re: Detroit

I am leaving tomorrow. I should be back either Wednesday or Thursday. If I am back in town i'll play 100%; however, no promises. Following week should not be a problem at all.

Re: Detroit

Also scotty forgot to mention this but the game will be a 5-10 game so less chips will have to be on the table. And I vote for Thursday nights at 6, starting next week.

Re: Detroit

Sorry about that guys, yeah a 5/10 game just for the sheer mat of chips that the room owns it's easier. $1 ante and I would say a $3 bring-in but that's negotiable.

The weekly $120 tournament tomorrow 8/28 at MotorCity casino.
Starts at 1pm Sharp 8,000 starting chips and decent blind levels. Usually 50 players, 1st paying $2,000
Looking toward to meeting some 2plus2ers. I will wear the blue Tigers shirt and glasses in my profile picture.

Re: Detroit

No offense, but that blind structure is terrible. The 45 man turbos have a better structure than that. And if it's 100+20 that is also bad.

The Sunday $120 MotorCity casino tournament has good starting stack and a good structure. 8,000 chips, Blinds go up every 30 minutes:
100/100
100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
They recently started these tournaments for the summer so I doubt you've even played it, and the 45 player you are speaking of is only 2,000 chips and horrible structure.
First week of the month they run a $340 tournament. I took the first one down 2 months ago for $3,040 with about 30 players.

Re: Detroit

That structure is not good Jose. I am sorry. For a $120, that is pretty bad. I know that they are not WSOP structures, but they want these done in under 4 hours. It is to appease people that want to play tournament poker. This way, they can get 3-5 tables down and not lose too much money, compared to cash games.

That's a fine structure for the first 2 hrs, but what about the next 5 levels? My guess is 1k/2k 2k/4k, etc. Basically they give all the play when there is no money involved. Welcome to Detroit tournaments

Re: Detroit

And Jose, 2B9 is just a bitter human being. But, yes, I have played it, and if they blew that tournament up and never ran it, then that would be great.

I travel to play tournaments in other states because i can appreciate a great tournament. I am not comparing this $120 tournament to any WSOP tournament structure. Obviously no comparison. But in the Detroit area they do not have much of a selection and this tournament rates at the top as far as starting stack and structure in THIS AREA.
I am merely posting a tournament in hopes of a good turnout and meeting the people that post here with me but it seems that you guys always have a reason to criticize and argue my post. My god, sometimes I feel like I'm in a forum with my girlfriend.
