I know. A lot of people outside of Detroit don't even know Detroit has a legit poker scene. out of all the poker vloggers only one came to Detroit when they went to travel to the mid west, and that is because their mom lives in Detroit.

Andrew neeme really showed Detroit in a good light, but it's his only vlog he's done that he had to make a response video, because he said to come visit Detroit and viewers weren't liking his suggestion/ cosign of Detroit. Sad.

BP: You’ve done some traveling in the vlog. Where’s an underrated place to play poker at in America?

AN: One spot that I really enjoy is my hometown of Detroit. There’s good action there to be found. Things are happening in Detroit these days. On the other side of the country, I really like Portland, Oregon. The legislative [position] on poker is still being sorted out, but they have a pretty thriving poker scene up there.

Sounds like DaveC95818 and Andrew Neeme are on opposite ends of the spectrum. FYI stopped by Wayne Bowl ( QoH II ) yesterday and all the tables and chairs are tucked away somewhere. Room was empty except for construction equipment. Looks like their putting in windows to separate the room from the bowling alley noise. Guess I'll have to hit up the Vision turbo donkament tonight.

Most poker players play in the closest room to their house, because they're lazy pieces of **** that suck at gambling.

flip opened up a proctology office up in Ottawa last I heard.

Remember the guy that came in here and posted that someone stole a grand from him? Turns out he had lost it himself I think? He was a good guy, just a weird story.

What's up y'all. Most of you probably don't even remember me, but a few of the very long time contributors will.

Anyway, thinking of coming out of retirement for a few sessions in the summer. A few questions, how is new room at MGM? Haven had a chance to play it yet, is it better than MCC? Also, is MCC bad beat still going on?

Has anyone ever played the firekeepers 5th Sunday $400 tournament? Anyone have thoughts on about how many entries they normally get for that?

Whoa, black nines.

The new MGM room is great. I think it's better than MCC, but that's probably not the only opinion you'll hear.

1) MCC BBJ is still going on and quite high right now .. over $550K for the Q<Q hand.

2) FK $400 has been a huge success and is coming off the largest field yet. You will want to get there early (11:00 AM) or risk going on the wait list. I'm pretty sure the wait list was over 100 entries and those folks were sitting down with less than 15bb when they 'finally' got in around Level 9/10.

They start with 26 tables and very few wait list folks get in before Level 5 or so. Cash games didn't restart until around 5 PM or so and that rankled a few as well.

They have tweaked things after almost every tournament .. The biggest thing the last time was wanting them to start earlier in the day. You will need to plan on playing past 100 AM to win it ... $27K or so in the last one .. Not bad for a $400 start. One re-entry is allowed but I think very few take advantage of it due to the lengthy list, which is another 'jab' at them I guess.

The room is what it is and they have done controlled growth from the start. When they decide to move into the Bingo Hall or concert space (if they can, I've never seen it) then they will make sure they are ready to take on the challenge. GL

I think MGM did a great job, but I could complain about lots of things. As a daytime player, I hate that the first open table every day is the one right on the edge of the room (Floor guy always tells me it's so people walking by can see there's a game going). They need more glass to build up the wall and keep out the smoke, especially if anyone is smoking at the slots closest to the room. I actually think the room is very noisy and they could have done a better job with some soft features on the walls or ceiling to smother some of the noise.

But, that's leading with the worst of it. In reality, the poker room at MGM now is what they should have built in the first place. Having it upstairs was a terrible idea from the get go. As much as I loved the privacy up there, it isolated the room and kept more people away than it attracted. Big room, lots of televisions, food and beverages in the room, etc, etc. My hope is that the floor and dealers start to use the on table computers better...too many times I still see a floor person walk over and ask if we have an open seat instead of trusting the dealer to use the computer properly.

But, until the floor people start to be more consistent with proper rulings (I've seen more just completely awful rulings at MGM than almost any other card room I've ever played in), it still keeps me from playing there regularly. Twice, the same daytime floor supervisor made awful rulings that cost me large pots (one was a $800 pot in a 1-2 game involving an early river card exposure that was allowed to stay and one should have been a $1500 pot in their 1-3 PLO game that involved a player betting, cutting out chips across their betting line, and then being allowed to take them back when I called after the dealer told me it was on me....both long stories I'll share if anyone really wants to hear them)

Are the 240s getting huge fields? Was going to play the one on July 9th and registering around 10:30....

I only play on weekends (Friday and Saturday nights). MGM has been great. I play 2/5 and only 1/2 while waiting... 1/2 is great at MGM, the 300 buy in helps and overall the game is more action then MCC. The 2/5 has been good, only 2 tables average which doesn't help for game selection if the game is bad, only been a couple days where I've actually gone to MCC since both 2/5 games at MGM were bad.

Overall I like the room better, don't smell as much like smoke and the casino atmosphere is less depressing then the atmosphere at MCC.
