I think MGM did a great job, but I could complain about lots of things. As a daytime player, I hate that the first open table every day is the one right on the edge of the room (Floor guy always tells me it's so people walking by can see there's a game going). They need more glass to build up the wall and keep out the smoke, especially if anyone is smoking at the slots closest to the room. I actually think the room is very noisy and they could have done a better job with some soft features on the walls or ceiling to smother some of the noise.
But, that's leading with the worst of it. In reality, the poker room at MGM now is what they should have built in the first place. Having it upstairs was a terrible idea from the get go. As much as I loved the privacy up there, it isolated the room and kept more people away than it attracted. Big room, lots of televisions, food and beverages in the room, etc, etc. My hope is that the floor and dealers start to use the on table computers better...too many times I still see a floor person walk over and ask if we have an open seat instead of trusting the dealer to use the computer properly.
But, until the floor people start to be more consistent with proper rulings (I've seen more just completely awful rulings at MGM than almost any other card room I've ever played in), it still keeps me from playing there regularly. Twice, the same daytime floor supervisor made awful rulings that cost me large pots (one was a $800 pot in a 1-2 game involving an early river card exposure that was allowed to stay and one should have been a $1500 pot in their 1-3 PLO game that involved a player betting, cutting out chips across their betting line, and then being allowed to take them back when I called after the dealer told me it was on me....both long stories I'll share if anyone really wants to hear them)
