MCC should be hiring more dealers because the BBJ could get hit tomorrow or it could take months with the minimum qualifying requirement.
So here's my thought as primarily a PLO player these days. The BBJ is so hard to hit. I know some will say that odds are it'll hit soon because it's been so long, but it's such a long shot. I find PLO to be a much more profitable game for me than NL Hold 'Em.
In general, my goal in playing poker is to make money. If I hit part of the BBJ (and I've been part of 8 in my 11 years of playing cards in Detroit, including the losing hand one time) while waiting for a PLO table to open, that's great, but I'm not going to avoid a good PLO game just to go be bored playing Hold 'Em. Charted out over the last two years, my hourly win rate playing PLO is about 1.8x my Hold 'em hourly rate.
That being said, most of the players I see playing Hold 'Em instead of PLO tend to be the nits at the PLO table anyways and the games are better with them off the table. It just sucks when we can't even get a PLO game going early in the day because people put themselves on the list with no intention of actually playing (or they start the game, win a big pot, and then go back to Hold 'Em which is worse in my opinion)
