NO LIMIT POKER ROOM GAMES
$50-$200, $200-$500, $300-$2000 and $500 to No Max

What are the blinds for these table limits?

I will be coming to Detroit for the #Movement festival and looking forward to checking some poker games.

Staying near Hart Plaza. Is MGM my best choice? How late do games go? Expect to be busy this weekend?

Thanks in advance for your help.
50-200 buy in 1/2 blinds
200-500 buy in 2/5 blinds
300-200 buy in 5/10 blinds
500 - no max buy in - not sure if it is 5/10 or 10/20 blinds

MC has most tables going. I prefer MGM though. Games go on all night but start to slow around 2 am

What's a round by round limit game? Where they change the game every round?

+1 to mlborder's question. Do I understand (from piecing together this and past threads) that this is a $15/30 limit Omaha high only game? If so, wow. Didn't think I'd ever see LOH spread again in my lifetime. But sounds profitable.

LOl I used to play this at home game, what a great game. The only difference was that every time a round was played the next man in line chose the game. There was a 3rd option however that the old men called Greek where you had 3cards in you're hand instead of 2 or 4. Kinda like dealers choice, but it was a sick $15-30 game with real poker games for the most part at least.

Interesting on the round by round 15/30 limit game. How is it overall? How's the limit hold 'em play at MC?

Yes the 5/10 Omaha 8/better is a Full Kill at Motor City.
The game starts early on Saturday mornings from what i remember. Not a great game to play though IMO. Chase city, high rake = unprofitable game in long run.

Fun to play it now and again though. Takes a while to get your seat too, I've been there some days and been on the 4 person deep list for 5-6 hours before someone leaves.

I disagree if it really is chase city. No game played for limit punishes chasing more than O8.

I went to play the 15 30 round by round 2 sat ago at motorcity. There was a list that is pre made the week before with the players that started the game the prior week and a few that did not start it were still plAying using vacation days

I waited 9 hours for a seat only to be subjected to the worst dealers that never stopped playing with the chips in the tray. They made the mistake of raking $1 for bad beat from the Omaha pots a handful of times and never reimbursed the players.

Game starts at noon but if you get there at 6 am it does not matter. The insiders list is already in place.

If 10 players are there at 8am makes no difference as game starts at noon.

Limit poker is dead in Detroit except for the same10 players on the insiders
list week to week.

When asked why they don't make it first come get on list and spread the word
with that we deal limit motor city floor man told me that will not work. I guess they never went to the bellagio

This is exactly the problem with detroit poker, not just limit poker. Let's not open the game early when we have ten players, because we have some archaic idea of how it should work. Let's piss off ten people who are going to be so upset they won't come here anymore, for the ten people who were here last week, who may or may not show up this week.

You cannot find 10 players at 8 A.M. that want to play.

Detroit is not Las Vegas and MC is not Bellagio. It is too bad you had to wait, but if indeed you want to play limit, unfortunately you have to abide by their nuances.

Limit is dead. The poker world is evolving to $1/$2 NL.

The poker world has evolved already to NLHE. Sarnia was running $10/$20 LHE last weekend.

So I ended up only checking out Greektown's poker room since it was only 3 blocks walking distance from my room at the Marriott Renaissance Center during the Memorial Day weekend.

I was only able to play for a few hours on Saturday afternoon. The room and tables were nice and comfortable. It was quiet room that day, only 4 tables running and a daily tournament wrapping up. I was able to get a seat immediately and sat at a friendly 1-2 NLH game. It was mostly regulars who knew each other and the dealer. Good and friendly dealers. There was one other Movement DEMF attendee playing and we both recognized each other by our 'weekend pass' arm bands. Pretty easy table, i doubled up in under 2 hours and had to leave to go to the event.

I went again the next afternoon but there was a waitlist and i couldnt play.

All-in-all, i was really pleased and impressed with the poker options in downtown Detroit. Especially since i was in Detroit for a holiday weekend and didn't even know about the casino options until a few weeks before, it was a total bonus to my trip.

Next time i will come earlier and check out the MGM Grand and Motor City hopefully.

Detroit area poker players should be proud and grateful for all of these options.

Positive Vibrations is talking about the new GTC poker room which is smoke free and nowhere near the smoky casino floor. Still, you get the smoke treatment @ GTC just walking in and out.
