It has been awhile since I played limit poker, but living in Colorado, seems like the only decent game now is 30/60. Was curious what people are normally buying in for up at the hill and what sort of swings there are. Been playing only nl for the past few years and the stakes just aren't high enough anywhere in Blackhawk to compensate for the rake and tips. I will be a nice new limit fish for your game. God I miss online poker. Thanks

Hi Guys,

Flying out to Denver this Saturday morning, going to be playing live either saturday or monday night. When/where does the 30/60 or higher games go? Thanks.

Also, any fun high-ish buy in tournaments this weekend anywhere?

I played in a couple of the $100 12pm "Deep-stack" tournaments and failed to cash. Also tried on of the $100+$100+$100 and also failed. Not a horrible structure they had, and I'm looking forward to the next time they have the CPC. I wanted to try and win a qualifier into The Main Event, but I was also playing the 12pm tourney and didn't bust by the 3pm start time for the qualifier.

Honestly though, I hate the Golden Gates. If it wasn't for the HPT/CPC I'd never set foot in it.

On another note, I am somewhat surprised and disappointed that the LHE games so from 4/8 to 30/60. 5/10 or 10/20 anybody??? I'd love that.

Some have suggested that maybe there are plenty of underground 8/16, 10/20 and/or 15/30 games in Denver and they just don't want to pay the ridiculous rake in BH, but what about the 30/60 and 50/100 players? Are they simply "rake insensitive"?

And come visit Rapini!
I can't explain it, but there's a thread that's taking a shot at it right now in the main forum that I'm about to move over to Poker Theory. I think it's called something like "Why aren't there enough limit games?"

I would really like to visit at some point, but unfortunately it won't be anytime soon. I'll certainly shoot you a PM if/when it happens. Please do the same if you're around DC/Philly/AC.

Nope, per the sticky at the top of this forum, you still have to abide by the site T&C and B&M Forum guidelines 6, 7, and 8.

EDIT to add: I locked the old Colorado poker thread and moved it to this subforum as a reference going forward.

Is Omaha hi/lo running anywhere? What levels?

Perhaps I should rephrase my question... What's the best, top 3 card rooms with 1/2, 2/5, 5/10 NLHE?

Golden Gates would be best bet usually on weekends. 5/10 full kill, 5-100 spread limit

I runs in Cripple Creek on the weekends at Double Eagle/Gold Creek pretty regularly and at Midnight Rose sporadically. Not sure of levels, but low ones.

Can poker room managers announce promotions in this thread? Or will they only be allowed to respond to questions, as in the "Colorado Poker Scene" thread?

He had over 7500 when he left the 30/60 game. I didn't check how he was doing in the 50/100 game but I heard he was winning. He apparently ran 1500 up to that over the course of the 40 hr. session.

I would rather they not post at all.. it made the other thread almost unreadable.

Hmmm... I generally found the information useful and didn't think they overwhelmed the thread at all.

We are only allowed to respond to questions. Announcing promotions, tournament schedules, etc. is prohibited. This is a discussion forum, not a free "classifieds" section of a newspaper, so I understand why the Mods enforce this.

What's the best $100 or less tournament on Sundays? I am coming up with some work friends that don't have a lot of poker experience and they would like to play a tourny instead of the cash games that I usually play.

Decent friend of mine. Pretty much been running a daily marathon on that 30 game for about 6 months. Runs hotter than the sun no doubt, often booking insane results.

There's a $40 at 10:00am, a $100 at noon & 7:00pm and a $60 at 3:00pm at the Lodge. No juice on the buy-ins and inexpensive rebuys (house keeps rebuy $).

He's really nice, and fun to play with, but his aggression is probably not profitable in the long run. I've also watched him spew almost uncontrollably in two sessions, dropping easily 5 or 6k in a four hour period.

He's definitely good, but he reminds me of me. Impatient and leaky.

Any chance that 2-5 -100 spread Omaha hi/lo will start at the Ameristar? I used to play at GG but I really don't like that place.

Not if the bad beat lottery players have anything to say about it. What don't you like about GG?

Anyone going up the hill tomorrow? I plan on playing the Isle $100 noon tourney, but called and they said it hasn't gone in the last few weeks. So i'll probably end up playing the $150 deepstack at Golden Gates. Anyone here play this tourney before? I've heard the structure isn't great, but I can't find any details online.

Also, how is the level of play? I'm assuming not great, but it is a higher buy-in compared to most dailies at Golden Gates, so are most players at least competent?

I'll probably be wearing a black hat with in3 on the front, love to meet some other 2+2 posters if you want to out yourself. I'm pretty tall so should be easy to find.
